I have a Dell xps laptop with Win7 home premium. I have a wireless network connection through my netgear, as it shows when open the "network & sharing center." As the screenshot shows, there is an annoying "dial up connection" window that randomly appears while I'm using the pc. I can't access the inter net while this is there so I have to close it
View 4 RepliesI do a lot of tech support for my family, however I'm a bit stumped a family member presented me with a problem on her hp netbook. She has verizon internet which is dial up and has a belkin router broadcasting the signal. Today however she was unable to connect. Usualy a box would pop up when she would connect to the network or a notification window would come up saying it is connecting to the dial connection. The window did have a box to check or un check asking to do it automaticaly, My question is how would i go about checking the box again and connecting the dial up connection?

At home I use an older computer, a HP a1000n Pavillion with a 56k internal modem and MSN dialup. Is it possible to set up a WiFi station so I can my notebook can access the Internet? I am posting this here because the notebook using Windows 7, though my Pavilion uses XP. Suddenly, my direct connected (Cat 5 to the broadband modem) computer is asking me to dial a connection. It no longer seems to know that it is simply connected. When I look at the devices tab, it shows Enabled for my network card and I have tried to reinstall the drivers.I dual boot with Ubuntu and Ubuntu is able to access the internet (and network) fine.

Today it appeared and contained the words "0 files copied" which changed to "1 files copied" and then "2 files copied" before disappearing. This was the first time I could actually see what was written. About 5 minutes later it appeared very briefly again and I noticed the word "taskkill" before it disappeared.

A while ago (nearly a year now) I installed a USB fingerprint reader and this worked fine for a while when all of a sudden it appeared to stop working on the login page. It turns out that if I scan my fingerprint within the first 2 seconds of the login page appearing then Windows recognizes the device and allows me to log in using biometrics, if I try after the 2 seconds then it doesn't work and I have to use a password. I really don't understand, the device is recognized, working properly and even if it doesn't work for logging in then I can still access biometric settings and everything as if it was completely fine. I'm presuming that this is a driver conflict somewhere that during the loading process something happens after 2 seconds that prevents the fingerprint reader from operating correctly but how do I find out what?

The network shows as connected and I can ping and tracert websites and IP's succesfully, but Firefox, IE, Windows Live Messenger and any other application cannot get connectivity. I have tried starting in Safe mode with networking and still have the same problem.
I have reset and bypassed my router and tried a direct connection to modem after a reset and still the same issue. I can connect no problems with another computer on this network and right now I am able to access the internet using Windows XP Mode in Windows Virtual PC. Any suggestions?

It logs in fine on my 2 other PCs and my Kindlefire.I have checked for viruses with Avast and A-Malware Bytes in safe mode - nothing. These 2 pick up 98% of stuff. Personally I dont think its a virusn IE9 - Deleted browsing history, cookies, temp internet files, everything under the Geneeral/Browsing History section. Did a disk cleanup, put the site inthe trusted zone, turned off popup blocker just in case, Cleared SSL state, Reset IE9. Zippo
View 1 Replies View RelatedA week ago i turned my Win 7 HP Laptop into wireless router which is on EVDO 3G dial up using the windows (ICS) to connect my second Win 7 Dell laptop which was successful.Unfortunately, i ran out of data and now that i have recharged my Evdo 3G dial up modem hoping to continue browsing on both laptops, the Dell laptop which in this case is the client is showing connection signal but each time i tried to connect, this error will come up- Access type : No Internet access along with the dreaded yellow triangle alert on the system tray. Although when i plug the modem directly to the Dell laptop, it does browse smoothly. I have Google and read almost everything concerning this online including this forum but i have not come across a solution that is peculiar to mine.

I'm assuming the "network" detected is my dial-up connection and that I should choose "Public Network". Am I assuming correctly, or is my network type selection irrelevant to my dial-up settings.
i have an intel i5 2400 cpu, combined with 4gb ddr3 memory. mobo is dh67bl - revision 3. no gpu installed.power supply is via corsair vx450.problem i been facing:
1) bsod saying that a clock interrupt wasnt recd. [url]
2) bsod saying: page fault in non paging area. couldnt grab a screenshot for this.
3) display randomly goes off for a split second and reappears.. but the color of the panes go blue (i havent chosen blue. my setting is for clear pane.)[url] this error solves itself after random number of hours/mins
4) display vanishes for a split second and reappears, and a small balloon at the bottom right corner prompts that the display driver had stopped working.
5) system plain hangs/stops responding. randomly happens.. but more so while on Internet, or after hrs of it idling, i come back to the comp and try to scroll the content onscreen.sometime it revives from the stuck state as if nothing happened, sometimes i have to give it a cold boot.
6) while reading forums with blue bands.. the blue bands kinda form blurry bars which stretch till the end of the screen. i tried to grab a screenshot but the screenshots were clean. the bands moved as i dragged the image about.
7) also, my comp's display went off one day and within a second came back with a blue-ish hue. it restored itself but again has gone back to blue-ish.

no other os resides/installed on system
full retail version
os was installed in july.
i got problem with my mobile dial up modem, the modem was detected on device manager, and queryable on the modem properties itself, but i dont know why my modem cant be found when i try to create new dial up connection. i try to research over google and found, it could be the telephony problem, and yes when i try to open phone & modem control panel, then the error showed Code: phone and modem control panel can not be opened. you may have a problem starting telephony service , then i try to restaring the telephony service on windows services, i dont know why this problem occured, cause yesterday everything is just fine...

I don't use custom pics, although I do use a custom skin.Every now and then when opening Opera, it 'freezes' at the Speed Dial tab for 3-7 secs before displaying all tabs/windows. When it 'freezes', all tiles are the + symbol and are blank.Once it 'unfreezes', all is normal.It seems to happen sporadically upon a new start. Once the browser is open, the issue does not reoccur.It's been going on for the last 3 weeks to a month - same version, same skin.Basically, one day it just started happening without any changes to the browser. Prior to this, it loaded instantly 100% of the time.I've cleared cookies/cache the normal way and it's still happening. I've culled a few sites from speed dial without a positive result.

I am running into an issue where I can open a window/program with my mouse however once the window is open I cannot click inside of it. The window becomes inactive. I also have noticed I cannot right click on my desktop to bring up the properties. I can right click on the window in the task bar to close it but not in the window. Since this is happening I am limited to command prompt. I ran sfc /scannow with no errors. I tried with 3 different mice. I booted the computer into safe mode with command prompt and brought up the device manager to show devices not in use, and when the device manager window opened I could click inside it! since I could use the window I uninstalled all mouse drivers, and reinstalled my microsoft wireless usb mouse driver.. while in this safe mode I changed my mouse properties to system default as I read somewhere that can reset things. Next I booted the computer in safe mode (without command prompt) and still the same thing. I was trying to do a restore point as well however my Kaspersky antivirus 2012 is preventing that as i cannot find a way to kill the program through command prompt.
