Suddenly, my direct connected (Cat 5 to the broadband modem) computer is asking me to dial a connection. It no longer seems to know that it is simply connected. When I look at the devices tab, it shows Enabled for my network card and I have tried to reinstall the drivers.I dual boot with Ubuntu and Ubuntu is able to access the internet (and network) fine.

She has verizon internet which is dial up and has a belkin router broadcasting the signal. Today however she was unable to connect. Usualy a box would pop up when she would connect to the network or a notification window would come up saying it is connecting to the dial connection. The window did have a box to check or un check asking to do it automaticaly, My question is how would i go about checking the box again and connecting the dial up connection?

At home I use an older computer, a HP a1000n Pavillion with a 56k internal modem and MSN dialup. Is it possible to set up a WiFi station so I can my notebook can access the Internet? View 1 Replies View RelatedI have Asus eee PC since 2010 with Win 7 and never had any problem. I was working on my laptop without any problem. But for last couple of hours I am not able to connect to my wireless network. It doesn't show any network. It only shows the message "Not connected. No connections available". I have internet service through out the house. Wireless is also working on my IPod, IPad and IPhone. I have desktop connected with network wire and internet is working just fine. When I connect my EEE with network cable, everything is working as expected. Only wireless is not working.
I already tried the following:
1. Restarted my eee pc
2. Restarted wireless router (doing this before, would remove any problem but not this time)
3. Tried clicking Fn + F2 buttons
Also, few minutes back my machine was updated with automatic update of Win 7 SP1. Nothing is working.. I don't know what happened. It is so frustrating to see things stop working without any valid reason.
I have an Acer 5532 laptop Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. Out of the blue about two weeks ago wireless connectivity started dropping. My wireless bar shows connectivity and full bars. I right click troubleshoot, run it and it resets my wireless connectivity and I'm good to go until the next episode. Sometimes I will be on for an hour with no wireless problem and sometimes I am running troubleshoot every 5-10 minutes. I have searched for solutions but cannot find anything that works. View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using a nokia E66 to connect to the internet at home. My pc at home is running windows 7 home premium 64 bit. I am currently using nokia pc suite 7.1.40.1. All the software installed without any problems. The problem that I am having is that after I connect to the internet, I can only roughly download / upload about 5MB of data and the connection will time out. I do not get any error messages that is did timeout. The only way I know this is that I stop seeing data being transferred in Network properties.
I then open my e-mail client to see If I can connect with a POP account and then I get an error saying it could not connect to the e-mail account. I then have to disconnect and reconnect and try again. This does not seem to affect web browsing though, only when I am downloading files. Like Steam will start update and stop, windows updates will start download and stop and so on.
I initially thought it was a problem with the network operator, but when I boot back in xp (my pc is set up to dual boot between xp and 7) every thing works fine. No download time outs. Is it the nokia software that is not supporting 7 100% yet or am I missing something else?
I've had windows 7 for months now on my new computer, but one day programs just seemed to stop working on the internet. First it was chrome, then it was a few games. Occasionally when I restart my computer everything can connect again. But it's starting to be more frequent that I can't. However, skype has managed to connect 100% of the time. I also noticed that it takes quite awhile for the computer to connect to the internet.
So far I've tried making new user accounts, renewing my ip, and uninstalling some new programs, but no luck at all. My antivirus picked up an infection but cleaned it, it's nod32 AV5.
edit: Ran windows 7 help and it found that it can't connect to the DNS server.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was on my laptop, connected to the Internet, going about as normal. My Wifi Internet went out completely and then would not reconnect. When I tried plugging directly in to our modem, it came up with error 633. It seems like one of my programs is interfering with it being able to connect. I haven't added or changed any programs recently, I've only uninstalled a few games/programs that weren't in any way related to the modem.
What programs could be the cause of error 633? Is there a list? Or is there another way to fix it? I can add more detail if needed. Well, I went out today and left my computer on while I was gone. When I came back, it was connected to the Wifi again. I've been using it for a bit, but now it's going on and off again. It's on for the moment though...
I have a new Macbook running dual OS - mac and windows 7 home premium. I also have an ASUS running windows 7. When i tried to connect to the internet with my broadband ADSL 2 (using netgear router / modem) it was seamless on the Mac OS but windows running on the mac will not recognize a connection. If I connect my ASUS to the ethernet cord, internet works just fine (running same software as the windows OS on my mac).

The other computers in the household do not loose their connections, just the Win 7 one. I can reestablish the connection by doing a reboot or working through the network connection wizard. But, it's a pain in the butt to stop and reboot or spend 15 minutes working through the wizard. My computer is home built(me)with an athlon CPU and 4 megs of RAM. The Windows 7 machine connects to the internet through a network adapter and gets its IP adress automatically and works perfectly both in xp and in 7. The Windows 7 machine is connected to the XP Machine via a second adapter (pci) and a crosslinked cable.
Before Windows 7 IN WINDOWS XP the 7 machine used an ip like 192.168.0.1 and ICS to give internet to the second machine (which got its ip automatically)
I tried a lot of things (ex. static fixed ips enable the computers to share files but not the internet connection) but i still keeps saying its an Unidentified Network / Public Network for the second connection (between the computers)
Note: - ICS is enabled for the internet connection.
- Back when both computers had XP the second XP computer obtained its IP Adress automatically and the internet was shared .. with 7 on the second (xp) computer doesnt aquire the right adress ever.
This is a problem that has happened to me a couple of times. Everyone else has connections in my house, even Wifi. I was cleaning my computer and when I was finished, it wasn't working. The thing is I wasn't touching anything besides my front computer fans. What could be the problem? When I go to device manager, it doesn't even show my router. All it shows is some NVidia nForce which doesn't have to do anything with my connection. One thing I do notice is that there is an "unknown device", which I think is my router. I can't update or do anything else because I have no connection. I even reinstalled my computer which usually fixed it.
