Creating New Folder Ends Up Creating 2 Or 3 New Folders?
Jan 7, 2013Under computer I go to my drive of folders. When I click new folder either by right clicking or by hitting new folder the system then creates 2 or 3 new folders at one time. I then have to go back and delete the extra folders. At first I did not mind because it only happened once or twice and now it is every time.

When this user creates a new file or folder on a network share it's also creating a shortcut in the root of the share. This is only affecting this user and the only thing I can think of is to blow away the local profile on the laptop.

I didn't have this problem before. Also, I recently [few hours ago] reformatted my HD and installed a fresh Windows 7 to rid all the bloatware software that came with my Acer laptop.
From Google I found this thread DEAR WANDY / windows media player 12 The person had the same problem and fixed it. Problem is I have no idea how to "edit the registry" and all that.
Edit: I think I've found the solution. The music MUST be in the "Media Library" in order to have it in the playlist, albums, etc. Very lame.

Aug 8, 2009I have a problem in explorer that whenever I move a folder into another folder, explorer prompts:
Could not find this item
[Try Again] [Cancel]
If I click cancel, nothing will happen, the operation is cancelled.
If I click Try Again, the operation will proceed, the folder will move.
This isn't really a problem, but a HUGE nuisance.

Moving folders into the recycle bin is fine, no errors.
Moving files is fine, no errors.

Mar 19, 2009Has anyone noticed a problem with ripped dvd files (ie VIDEO_TS) that are mounted from a networked folder? I get a video error message about missing files and if I press "d" for more info I get the cryptic error:

Files needed to display video are not installed or are not
working correctly.
This doesn't happen with dvd files on local disks, only networked folders. I'd like to know if someone has seen this or can reproduce this error. This is on build 7057, but I think it happens on the others as well.

Slave Drive Access / Taking Ownership Of Folders - File Not Found Error

My thing is that I've managed to take ownership of my slave drive; formerly in a tower - now trying to access it thru my windows 7 laptop. Ive taken ownership of " my documents," but it doesn't seem like it took; I still have to take ownership of every folder in it individually when I go into it. Furthermore, when I going into my music or video folders - I get a "file not found" error when I try to open the files.

Jul 9, 2012I have just done a clean install of Win 7 Pro 64. I have set up four accounts and for each one I have moved the user folders to a separate hard drive by using the Right Click Properties > Location > Move. I have done this for the following folders:
- Desktop
- Downloads
- My Documents
- Favorites
- Links
- My Music
- My Pictures
- Videos
I have done it exactly the same way on each account (and more than once! I've been imaging the disk and have restored backwards a few times.)
The problem is, on three of the accounts, when I move the My Music, My Pictures, and Videos then they do move correctly but three rogue folders appear named Music, Pictures and Videos. And I can't delete then since they are system folders.
But the weird thing is that this does not happen on one of the accounts!
how to get rid of the extra folders as they're cluttering up the users home folder and causing confusion.

Sep 19, 2009In Windows 7 how can I change "Folders View" for individual folders without changing them system wide. For example if I select "always show icons" all my folders are set this way, and that's fine. But there are a few folders I have containing jpeg images, and I want to view those as "thumbnails" without effecting the others which are set to always show icons.
This was very easy to do in Windows XP but I can't figure out how to do it in Windows 7.

May 8, 2011When i got my 500 gig internal HD, I messed up and the C: partition is too small. I can't move anything else outta the C partition into the much larger D partition. SO now I want to create a system image on my external HD, so I can re-install Win7 Pro, and not use any partitions. WELL, when i try to create a system image on this external, which sez only needs 396 gig,Windows tell me the external doesn't have enuff space for the shadow volume? There is nothing ON this external. Has 434 of 465 gig free. SO why is that NOT enuff space?

System could not find file specified ( 0x80070002 ) close. Nothing else...how is one suppose to make sense of this? Does this mean i can never make an image file of my system? However, I find it runs fairly slowly so I intend to install XP on it from an old installation disc.However, when I first started my netbook I set up a partition with 40Gb allocated to the C drive and the remaining 240 to a D drive. Not being that computer savvy I got confused and despite having a portable hard drive for back up and the computer having a separate hidden restore partition, I went ahead with this.My question is that if I start again with XP can I reset the partition to a single C drive with separate restore area?
