WMC Freezes At End Of Netflix Episodes
Nov 22, 2011Almost every time a Netflix show I'm watching in Media Center reaches the end (final frames of video), the show freezes in full screen and WMC stops responding. The video remains full screen, frozen on the last frame played, and WMC's menus/buttons do not appear. WMC does not back out of the video to the Netflix browser.I say almost because because a show has properly ended and backed out to the Neflix/WMC browser maybe once in all the episodes/movies I've watched (~10, mostly tv episodes, one movie).Typically the freeze happens before the very end of the video (during credits, sometimes chopping the show short/mid-sentence if they're talking over credits).The only way I can get out of the video and back to WMC is to alt-ctrl-del and end the Media Center process (it shows Running in task manager but eventually it comes up "Not Responding" then restarts).I've rebooted several times with the same result.I can properly back out of a running video to the Neflix browser any time prior to the lock up, but once it's frozen the only way to get out is to end the task in windows task manager.Otherwise WMC is running fine, this is just a super deal breaker since I have to go through so many steps just to watch the next episode of the series.Running Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit), latest updates installed including those for WMC and Silverlight. It's on a computer I just started using as an HTPC so the WMC Netflix plugin is freshly installed as well. Almost no applications running in background. Dell Inspiron 1764 core i3 2.13GHz, 4GB ram, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330. Connected to HD TV at 720p (computer doesn't quite keep up at 1080p).Internet/Netflix connection is tried and true- have been streaming Netflix via Nintendo Wii and web browsers for years- only experiencing playback issues in WMC.

Mar 18, 2012while I was on wireless, which I think the problem might originate from, I had 3 BSODs within a span of 30 minutes. Two of the BSODs were linked to opening Netflix on Firefox and the other was caused by opening a Flash app on Chrome. If I recall correctly, the last BSOD error was something akin to Driver not less or equal? Regarding the dump files, when I went to double check that a dump file was created upon BSOD, I noticed that the option to have it overwrite was checked, so I'm not sure if the previous two BSOD dump files were recorded. Some of my previous older BSODs (which the issue was solved) were included in the folder, I believe, since the program just captured everything in the minidump folder.

The Device ID is different when I check on all my registered devices (the only device that uses my account is my one computer). I have not changed any settings, reinstalled Windows, or made any drastic changes in the system. I do not use a router and am using Cox Communications as my ISP.

Nov 7, 2011I am new to WMC and I linked my netflix account to it. While I like the fact that WMC integrates my media experience, I am very disappointed that the Netflix streaming does not have a good exit. Everytime I choose a movie to watch, it's OK, but at the end of the movie, I get a black screen. No Exit, No way to get back to the Browsing Window. Nothing. I have to Ctrl-Alt-Delete, restart WMC, and get back to Netflix.

Mar 2, 2012For the last week or so, I have been unable to watch Netflix videos without constant freezing and the sound popping and buzzing (after a minute or two it continues playing). I'm not sure whether or not this started before or after I uninstalled/reinstalled my internet drivers, (midterms stopped my video viewing cold) but they shouldn't be related, should they? Sometimes after this error, I get a popup message that says my NVIDA graphics card stopped working. (I havent been able to capture the exact wording.) I was going to try un/reinstalling the graphics card, but when I went to, I found I wasn't sure what to do. Do I do it to "NVIDIA GeForce G210M" under display adapters, or "NVIDIA High Definition Audio" under Sound, video and game controllers. In addition, "NVIDIA High Definition Audio" is actually listed 4 times in my device manager. Which one do I uninstall? Each one says that the best driver is already installed.

Jul 2, 2012I need to upgrade my old G54 Airstation router which has been an excellent router but time is taking its toll. I know nothing about routers so surfing simply confused me to no end. I need some suggestions to help get me on track. Not as concerned with price as I am with quality and performance. Currently have 2 computers, network printer and the wifes tv hard wired to the the 4 out ports. Running Verizon High Speed Internet Enhanced which avgs 1.3 Mbps /.35 Mbps. Really need a couple more ports. With 8 Grandkids and all their new gadgets, quality and fast wireless is a must. At times, there are 6 to 8 units tied to the internet all at one time. Currently having an issue with the wifes Netflix movies bringing the internet on the computers to a crawl but that just may be the Verizon internet which is the fastest (not fast enought for me) available in my area.

No good. I then proceeded to chat with a Netflix associate and after a lot of back and forth they said that Microsoft is no longer supporting Netflix in WMC. I have seen nor heard of anything recently to support this. Why then does Netflix still show up in WMC? I could find nothing on Microsoft's site that was even remotely close to what I was looking for.

Aug 7, 2011I'm running Windows 7 64-bit and have recently encountered a few problems. First (and I'm not sure if this is related), the computer would easily overheat and then cpu usage would skyrocket to 100%, and I wouldn't be able to do anything. After running a virus scan (TrendMicro) and Malwarebytes, I got nothing, and I figured it was just my computer(a DELL Latitude E6400, which usually has overheating problems). This might still be the case. The new problem is that when using Netflix, Microsoft Silverlight plugin crashes. I've uninstalled and reinstalled all of my browsers, cleared the caches and done everything suggested to me.

Sep 26, 2010I bought Windows XP Ultimate and setup my computer with Bitlocker, using a USB key for the encryption key.After setting everything up and confirming it all works, I thought I would make a copy of this USB key. When I look at the USB stick using Windows Explorer or via a Dir command through a DOS prompt, I don't see any files on the USB stick.Is this normal? Is there no way to make a copy of the stick, I would have thought I would have seen files on it.

I need something SIMPLE - I would like to open Firefox, type in my message, click on ENCRYPT then have the program encrypt it so the receiving person can enter a key (which I have already provided) and then the msg would automatically decrypt. I have downloaded a few and they either needed keys/certificates (which I never received/downloaded); would not find the window in 'focus' so got "no text seen" msgs; needed true mail programs like Outlook or Thunderbird; could NOT make a self decrypting msg (once provided key was entered by the recipient <as they may not have the encryption program installed on THEIR computer>) and on....I really don't want to create the text in a Word window - encrypt it and then cut and paste into the Firefox msg window. Does anyone know of or IF such a program does exist?? Thought I had it in a program called Flexcrypt but cannot get it to encrypt as it is supposed to.

Oct 31, 2009I have been having some issues when trying to turn Bitlocker on in C:
I have followed the instructions as per this forum to enable a Startup key in gpedit.msc as I don't have TPM which worked.
After following the instructions, Windows Bitlocker asked me to insert a USB to save the startup key to. This appeared to save and then moved onto the next step where I took down the recovery key etc. and finally restarted to make sure my system was compatible before encryption started.
Upon restart, Windows said that it couldnt find a key on the USB drive. After further investigation I found that windows did not save the key to the USB after all even checked as a hidden file. It will save the text file (recovery key) to usb but not the bek file for the startup key.
I have tried this several times but each time it wont save although the system doesn't say there has been a problem and moves on to the next stage.
The USB is a 2gb cruzer with the smart drive software removed and re-formatted to NTFS. I have also tried this on other USB drives with no luck and the USB drives work as Iam able to write other things to it?

Nov 4, 2011I have win 7 ultimate 64bit and a while ago i tampered with file encryption and was dumb enough not to back up my encryption key. However, i remember my password that i used to encrypt those files. I formatted C: and re-installed Win7, just to notice i can't access some of my important files on another drive.So, i thought several possibilities of recovery, and i appreciate if you guys could express if any of the options below are viable.
1) Since i didn't back up my encryption key, where is the original one located? (if i use some recovery program to restore it)
2) Can i use recovery programs to restore pre-format a) user account, or b) encryption key, or c) windows (which actually then works)?
3) I remember the password i used to encrypt the files, so can i just make a new encryption key and kind of import it to my present windows to decrypt those files?
4) Does "Advanced EFS Data Recovery" or some other encryption key recovery tool work for my problem?
Drive Encryption For HP Protect Tools?
Aug 28, 2011My flat mate set up a security thing called Drive Encryption for HP ProtectTools. What this does is, upon start up, before it lets you load windows, you need to enter a password and pin. Clearly, it is anoying, so he handed it to me to get rid of it. It will not uninstall, as it says it is still active, and must be deactivated. I went into services - found it - disabled it. I went into some .msc thing i saw on the HP forums, disabled it. I went into the BIOS - Disabled it. I have disabled every aspect of it, however, it will still not uninstall, and continues to ask for a password and pin prior to windows starting.

Sep 15, 2012New drive 1gb external, running bitlocker for the first time. Left it overnight cos it was taking forever, (which is the norm)
Woke up this morning and it was stuck on something like 47.1% requesting the bitlocker password, put that in and it starts encrypting again.... But every few random mins it falls over with an error message:
An Error Occurred The System cannot find the file specified. And prompts me to put my bitlocker password back in, for which I do, and the encrpytion starts again.
Its like at 50% now, after it falling over 3 times in the last 30mins.. I'm not exactly what to do.. I cant sit here for the next 10hrs waiting for it to fall over every few mins asking for the password.
I'd be up for scrapping the whole encrpytion and starting all over again.. But not exactly sure on how to permantely un-crypt the drive and reformat it ? Perhaps running a scandisk before doing so... It was a brand new drive.
I can actually still access the data, because autoplay opens after every error allowing me to see and open the files.

So what I am looking to do, is find a program that will let me encrypt a users home directory but not something where it has to be manually encrypted/decrypted, looking for something similar to what EFS does where it will encrypt/decrypt on the fly.

Aug 31, 2009Can you recommend a Windows 7 compatible encryption program that will encrypt the whole hard drive? I checked the true-crypt website, but Windows 7 is not listed as supported yet. I'm currently using RC1 and when I get my RTM copies they will be Home Premium (so not Bitlocker).

Oct 2, 2009basically i just want something where I can right click a folder in windows 7 and choose "encrypt" or something similar, and then be able to enter a password. then from that point forward, when i try to click on that folder it will prompt me for that password before it will let me view it.i don't need to encrypt entire volumes, just a few folders here and there?
