View 1 Replies View RelatedWith Office 2010: I have a Word document with an embedded Excel chart. If I change the focus to some other program, then click back in the Word document, I see a box where the mouse is currently located (not the cursor - have to click again to get that to move) which shows information pertaining to one of the data points in one of the Excel charts. If I move the mouse over the op-up box, is disappears until the mouse is moved out of the box. If I click anyplace in the document, the box goes away.I have been experiencing this behavior ever since Office 2010 was installed - I do not remember if this was an issue with Office 2003. The behavior is clearly wrong and is quite annoying. Does anyone know what is causing this problem, and more importantly, how to get rid of it

View 2 Replies View RelatedBasically, the title sums it all up. Everytime I load the windows 7 professional, the 3 programs loads itself up too. Both Word and Excel starts with an empty page. IE9 will try to connect to the internet. And I can't seem to disable them from autostart. I have looked in the Startup folder. It's empty. I've tried msconfig. I don't see anything related to IE9, or MSOffice in there.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI haven't been able to find out what's interfering with these programs; anything I cut, copy, or want to paste goes through a lengthy delay before the function completes. I did do a restore to a prior restore point. There is a program I don't remember installing; it is called B Updater Service, dated 4/5/12 384KB.
View 25 Replies View RelatedI have recently reinstalled (via recovery) my 64-bit Win 7 Home premium . Every thing else is fine, except for office 2007. The program was installed successfully but office files didn't show their respective icons. For the first time for every office file (e.g Word or Excel document) I have to chose the program to run the file. Now though on clicking any office file they opened in the respective office program but still their icons are like office is not installed.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHad to re-format HD, and seems to be working now.But for how much longer, who knows. On the old setup, I had MS WORD and Excel. Many existing files of both.I only have, if I remember right, 2 or 3 downloads allowable/available from the Student Edition of them that I purchased a while ago.So, I don't want to use up what is left on my present PC, as I have real doubts about it lasting much longer.I heard about Open Office, and that it is free, and "completely" compatible with the MS equivalents. True? Are there "better" free ones that would work very well with my existing WORD and Excel stuff?

View 7 Replies View RelatedFor unknown reason, I suddenly encountered problem with highlighting text on Internet Explorer (8) and words document (office 2003). I also have problem with dragging a cell (for copying a formula) to other cells in excel. I tried to play around with my keyboard (pause/break and scroll lock key), sometimes it worked for once, but I it won't work the next time I tried.
FYI, I am using windows 7 Ultimate 32bit and a razer keyboard (using windows default driver). I probably can try to install the driver from razor, however, i thought there is probably a simple fix for the issue i.e. a certain key from the keyboard got activated by accident (my little daughter sometimes punched the keyboard for fun).

View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought a pc with Windows 7 that has worked fine with Word (office 2007). However, when I save a file with Excel 2007 and then call it up, the ribbon no longer works (I click on the various commands and ribbons don't pop up). Likewise, I cannot make cell entries or try operations like sorting. However, the program has not frozen since I can click on the various worksheets on the bottom. Is this an Excel or Windows problem and what is the solution.
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust started using a new workstation with Office 2010 installed by OEM. Everything worked fine for a few days, and then every time i attempt to open a Word file or Excel file i get the MS Office dialog box that states "please wait while windows configures Microsoft Office 2010". The dialog box stays visible for 30-45 seconds and then the program opens and works fine.
Ran a repair, four times, didn't fix it.
All of my research leads me to a solution of uninstalling and re-installing. I'm not buying that if everything worked fine for several days, that a bad install will make the program stop functioning properly.
I also noticed, while visiting help within outlook, that the product was still a trial version and not currently activated. I have entered the activation code numerous times with no luck.
I've created a workbook with about 15 worksheets and prior to sending to the customer I want to lock the cells so that they can't be changed without a password. So, I first select the cells I don't want to be altered and lock them. Then I go to "protect worksheet" and after checking the box that allows people to select cells in the locked section (selection of sells in unlocked section checks automatically) I enter a password twice and the worksheet is theoretically locked.
I can still change cells in the locked area. It didn't work on any of my worksheets. So I went back and unprotected the sheets and then selected and locked the cells TWICE, after which I protected the worksheets again. This time some, but not all, of the worksheets had locked the cells protecting them from editing. I then tried to go thru the same rigmarole but locking the cells three or four times before protecting the sheets for the sheets that were still unlocked, but that only worked sporadically as well. Sometimes I had to dis-allow selection, lock the cells in the sheet, unprotect it, lock the cells again twice, and then check the select box and protect the sheet AGAIN. That FINALLY worked.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded from 32-bit Windows Vista to 64-bit Windows 7 (did a clean OEM install). Now, my Microsoft Excel 2007 runs at a snails pace. Actually, I would be happy if it ran at a snails pace since it currently is running slower than that! It's almost to the point of being unusable. Opening an Excel document that took mere seconds with my 32-bit Vista now takes minutes with 64-bit Windows 7. Saving an Excel document in Vista took seconds and now easily takes 2-3 minutes with the new OS. Inserting a pivot table when my OS was 32-bit Vista was a snap, but now trying to do it working under 64-bit Windows 7 I can walk away and go eat dinner and come back and it still won't be done inserting the table.
Is there some known compatibility problem between MS Office/Excel 2007 and 64-bit Windows 7 OS? Ive searched Google but can't find anything related to the problem I am having.
I've tried restarting the PC. I reinstalled Office. I've tried launching Excel in compatibility mode for XP and Vista. All to no avail.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I was using Word 2007 under XP I never had a problem with it not opening, or closing while in use. Now that I am using WIndow7 64-bit, I regularly have the problem that:
A. If I try to open Word directly, I often get a message that "There is a problem with Word. Windows is searching for a solution." (Paraphrased.) Invariably the result is that Word shuts down. The only recourse I have found is to restart the computer. Happens several times a day.
B. Sometimes even while working with a document, I get the same message and result. The error occurs more often if I have a document open and then try to open another one.
I don't recall the same problem with Excel 2007, and have only used Power Point 2007 once (no problem at that time). Is there a way to "repair" word 2007? Must I reinstall it? HP Pavilion p6247, Athlon CPU, 2.3 GHz, Windows 7 64-bit; Microsoft Office 2007 Pro.
