View 1 RepliesI tried to reload the original factory format using f8/alt (due to virus). When it rebooted it went to "emachines recovery maintenance" window and inside the window said "please wait a moment". I went back several hours later and it still had the same message. I then purchased the reformat software from emachines website. I put the system disk software in the dvd drive and rebooted the system, hit f12 on the splash screen and it still gives me the same window and message. Is my hard drive fried or is there something else I can do to correct?

View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I am about to finish putting together my first gaming PC. (Specs: i5-3570, GB Z77x-UD3H, 8GB Corsair Vengeance, Galaxy 1GB GTX 560 Ti DDR5, CM Storm Enforcer, Win 7 HP 64bit, WD Black Caviar 2TB HDD, Adata SX900 64GB SSD).I am going to ONLY install Win 7 on the SSD and nothing else. So 64GB should be enough. My questions (They are sort of related):I have been confused about what to do while installing Win 7 on the SSD. I have done a lot of search but what I am gathering seems just redundant to me:- Do I or do I not have to create a system recovery/repair disc for Win 7 right after installing it? I mean if Win 7 is going to fail me (and if I have created the disc on the day I installed Win 7 on my SSD), then I can simply do a fresh reinstall from my own original Win 7 DVD that I have right now, right?
- So, exactly at what point is it a good time to create this disc (if creating it makes sense)? Right after the first install?- I have heard of Norton ghost??? or Acronis True Image HD??? Why should I pay for their services IF I can simply buy 3-4 DVD's and create my Win backup on them? It makes sense -financially- to just buy DVD's, right?- As for backing up all my other data, I can just purchase external HD's and Thumb Drives, which I am doing for my current PC anyways, correct?
I have an error that system32/hall.DLL is missing so I put in my windows 7 DVD ( I Have 4 DVDs for my windows, gateway, I always put the first one) so I could start start-up repair but when the windows files is loaded it keeps starting recovery mangment which gives me options to recover my hard drive to factory defaults (ie delete files on c and reinstall windows) ,why I don't get options to choose startup repair, how can I get it to start start-up repair?
View 3 Replies View RelatedA client of mine (I'm an IT summer temp in a production facility) recently contracted the Windows 7 Recovery virus and contacted me to fix it. Having encountered the XP version recently and resolved the issue, I was able to easily remove the virus and associated rootkit. The difference this time was that unhide.exe failed to restore the start>all programs menu shortcuts, although it did manage to restore the folder structure. I read through and followed the instructions of another thread here: [URL]. Which did not resolve the issue. The output given by SystemLook is as follows:

View 4 Replies View Relatedhow to perform a safe manual restore from the Dell Factory Image Partition. The problem is that i dont have the inbuilt option in the RECOERY MENU OPTIONS PAGE because i performed a fresh install of Windows 7 using the Resource DVD that shipped with the system The recovery partition is intact as the Fresh Install worked only upon the OS partition C:. The contents of the Recovery partition are visible in Command Prompt. In the Explorer it contains the following:
1. Recovery(Folder)
2. Info(Application)
Clicking on the "Info" opens a screen pop up which says: "Warning, This is dell recovery partition. Its contents must not be altered." The contents of the Recovery folder are hidden in the command prompt, but using dir /ah I can see the contents and it contains some of these folders and files as i am seeing it right now:
1. Autorun.inf
2. Desktop.ini
3. info.exe
4. A long list of "Protected.arabic" and like files
5. system 32 (dir)
6. windowsre (dir)
How can i restore the Factory image? After reading a lot of pages in different forums, i feel that it is possible to do a manual restore from this Recovery Partition.
I can't get into pc recovery drive (D) to restore pc to original condition in two pcs. I think it is because I reinstalled Windows 7 into drive (C), which prevents pc recovery from drive (D) [because it's not the original software.I can see the recovery drive (D).Also, I used SpotMau to get the windows 7 Ultimate product key, but the lable on the pc shows that Windows7 Pro is installed. The product keys are different.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have an HP dx7 laptop, which was experiencing repeated blue screens with many different error codes as well as periodically restarting seemingly at random. Occasionally it would also have the screen go black (looked like it entered sleep mode), which was unrecoverable.I tried to track down the various drivers and problems suggested by the error codes in the BSOD, but didn't have any success in preventing the blue screens/restarts. Eventually I decided to take the system recovery DVD's from HP, and reformat and reset to factory defaults. I figured at factory default settings if the system was still unstable, it'd point towards a hardware problem as opposed to drivers or other software. While performing the system recovery, it proceeds all the way to where it says "Setup is preparing your computer for first use" and gets to the step of installing drivers, at which point the system restarts. After booting up it then tells me that the installation has failed, and to reinstall. I've done this 3 times now, and get the same issue each time. I cant provide logs or dump files of the blue screens or other errors, since the HDD has been formatted as part of the system recovery.

To install Windows on this computer , restart the installation". The only thing that is different is the hard drive size, but I kept the C drive partition to the factory default size.

I want to keep some of my files, but I will not be using the windows reformat, I plan to use the "restore to factory settings" option. How would I do this? I have a "recovery" drive and I was wondering if I could store the files I want to keep onto that and when I reformat I could just transfer them over. How should I go about reformatting? I know there is a windows option for "restoring to factory settings." And I know that the last time I reformatted I used an hp tool to restore to factory settings.
View 7 Replies View Relatedi have this older emachines PC i just picked up,, It has windows vista on it (yuk) along with a recovery partition to reset it back to factory specs. I shrank the C: drive and split the drive so i now have:
C: W7U
D: Vista
E: Emachines Recovery
Or well thats how im trying to get it set up BUT everytime i install Windows 7 the machine thinks it needs to be recovered and boots into system recovery options.
I currently use an emachines el1360g desktop. Full specs here:

250 GB SATA hard drive
DVDRW SuperMulti drive
Integrated AMD Radeon HD6310 graphics
Integrated audio
Integrated 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet LAN
Multi-in-one digital media card reader
I bought this off someone who had purchased a week prior, but sold it cheap to pay rent-I live in a college type area and this happens now and again. Everything was in great condition and all I added was a new litescribe dvd burner. Since the first time I started it up, it has run incredibly slow. While I am aware its processor is nothing fantastic, it had specs loads better than my old desktop yet runs much slower. My main use is simple web browsing and word processing, using mainly chrome and ms office. Any more than 4 tabs open on chrome with no other programs up and it starts to crawl. If I have multiple programs open, say chrome with office, it goes even slower, I've run the diagnostics windows includes and everything looks fine but yet it still goes incredibly slow. I ran the repair disk to no effect, and my next step was to reinstall 7, or drop down to either vista or xp.
EDIT: Also ran several malware/virus scans using malwarebytes, avst, norton, etc. All scans came back clean

I started to do a full system recovery on my son's Acer Aspire 5750z, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit using the (4) Recovery DVD's we made when we bought it. Everything was working fine through the first three discs. I was called away while the third disc was in use (maybe 10 minutes) and when I got back to the machine, the window was up asking me to remove disc 3 and insert disc 4. I did, and in the 4 hours and 15 minutes since then, nothing has happened. The Acer eRecovery Management (v8.3.2) Window is up. Step 5 "Restore Progres" is highlighted. The elapsed time counter is continuing to run (currently at 5 hours 8 minutes and counting), the "Restoring System" bar is full and shows 100%, and the "Updating System" bar is stuck at 2%, which is where it was when I put in the 4th disc. I am tempted to shut down the laptop and start all over again, but I am afraid that it will mess something up if I do..

I want to have a Factory Reset of my computer. In order to launch a System Recovery, I need to create Restore Discs. When I launch the Recovery Disc Creation, it says:"This computer does not have a burning drive, which is required to make DVDs. How can I reset my computer to Factory Condition?
