Oct 5, 2012I have a lil problem. I set up my instance so that I can spawn 10-20 of them and they all connect to my VPN. The problem is that the VPN dont kick in until I log on to instance so that windows load up.
How can I make VPN an automatic process so I do not have to log in?
Deleting The Names In The File Name Drop Down List?
Jun 21, 2012When I go to open a file in Windows Media Player (and indeed many other programs), there is a box to put in (or click on) the file name. On the right end of this box is a little down arrow which, when clicked, provides a drop-down list of previously opened files. A picture of what I am talking about is below:is there a way to delete this list? I cannot really find a way to do it in the Options settings for the program. Alternatively, is there a setting somewhere that can be adjusted to not store these settings?

Oct 31, 2012so we have this database app that someone has open full screen. you can click on a link and drag a file right to the desktop. problem is, she has the app open on the primary windows ( the one with the star menu) and the file does not "land" where it is dropped on 2nd screen, but where the next icon would go on primary display. have tried with align to grid, and auto arrange on and off. is there a setting somewhere else to set this?

Aug 19, 2011I am an Access Developer. I have been using LogMeIn to connect to clients remotely and also, on occasion, to send or receive files. I have discovered that Remote Assistance seems to do the same thing, however, what does seem to be missing is the ability to transfer files conveniently from one machine to another. Is there something I'm missing or is this not a part of Remote Access?
If it is not, is there something else that Windows 7 offers that is basically the same thing as file transfer in LogMeIn? If not, is there some other way of looking at the problem that others use when they need to send or receive files from another computer. The files I am talking about are not extraordinarily large. It is very convenient in LogmeIn to see my drives in one pane and the clients in another and to just be able to drag and drop.
Perl File (.pl) File With Arguments As Windows 7 Service?
Jan 1, 2013I am running Windows 7 32-bit. I have a perl script which i want to start everytime computer starts. Setting it as service will be a good option as i can start and restart the service from command line.In windows XP I was using srvany.exe but that is not a good solution. Is there any way I can make this Perl Script which takes in some command line arguments as windows service. Dec 9, 2012When I try to run Windows back up (not system restore) I get error 0x80070422. The error message reads something like "This service can not be started because it is either disabled or it has no enabled devices associated with it." I looked around and found a list of services associated with Backup & Restore and their startup settings (manual/Automatic Etc.) I went through the list and everything is correct EXCEPT "Windows Backup" - "Manual" (manual is the setting not part of the name). There is no service with that name. All the other 5 are there and set correctly.

The Windows backup service is not even listed in my service list.
I've tried the one fix circulating around here involving deleting the wbengine registry key and restoring it, to no avail.
My backup drive ran out of space a few weeks ago and I'd been ignoring it until now, before that it had been chugging along happily, not even missing a beat when I re imaged my boot drive over to a newer, faster one.

Jan 16, 2012Is it feasible to use more than one cloud system? I was using Sugarsynch but I found it very slow but I used it as it gave me 5GB. I'm now using Dropbox, to backup my mail (eM Client) but I only get 2GB. At this stage I''m still evaluating which one to go for but the question is, will they clash if they are both trying to upload at the same time. or will one take precedence?

Jun 29, 2012Recently I worked with the tech support at McAfee when I couldn't install my updates or virus scan my Aspire one netbook.I was told that McAfee was fixed but will not run until I pay them $179.00 to fix my Windows 7 Service pack which is apparantly missing a file. They called it an error in attribute record and said the error is inthe operating system of my computer.

Winows 7 Wireless Internet Icon Grey With Yellow Cloud?
Sep 6, 2011I have a Compaq Presario C700 laptop running windows 7 and one day when turning on my pc I have encountered my wireless icon on my taskbar began showing grey with an orange looking cloud over it. I have dove into the system checking everything that I could think of to change it back to displaying properly. i am connected to the interent through a Netgear router and I can access the internet through either 2 ghz or 5ghz band but the icon will not display properly. No matter where I connect to the internet the icon still displays the same way. I thought it may have been my norton internet security that caused the issue I removed Norton and rebooted the icon remained the same I then Installed my Mcafee virus shield.When the problem began I had changed nothing nor had I installed anything to cause the issue. It just began one day.

DNS Client Ignores Hosts File Unless Network Service Permission Added
Oct 3, 2011I've recently restored my Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OS on to a new SSD using Macrium Reflect. My hosts file has always contained entries for local websites and has always worked until now. After much hair pulling and reading of forums, the only way that I could get the DNS Client to read and process the hosts file was by adding the "NETWORK SERVICE" user permission to it. It already had "SYSTEM", "Administrators" and "Users" (my user account). This was never required before, so I'm confused as to what has happened to require it now?

When I tried it to move or copy to the external I've got message: Error 0x8007045D: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error. I was looking online for some help and I found some advice that I have to make chkdsk in cmd mode but when I tried I've got message: "Chkdsk" is not recognized as a internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
