View 5 RepliesI recently bought an infrared webcam [generic] from China. Cheap and easy. Turns out that it "encountered an error" when I installed the driver. Before I bought it, I didn't know that it was for 32-bit Windows (they failed to inform me). Is there a way to emulate a 32-bit application on a 64-bit system??? Or a way I can fool the driver to make it work? Or even tamper with it to do so? And, if that won't work; does that mean that the device only works on 32-bit system and would never operate on a 64-bit one? I tried the webcam and driver on a 32-bit laptop and it worked fine. So they device isn't faulty.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMost times when I start my machine or just turn on my monitors (the Windows Display setting is set to turn off at 20 minutes, sleep is set to Never), I find that Windows is installing software. Sometimes it's successful, sometimes it fails.I see others have had this issue, but the offered remedies (reinstall drivers) did not work (I consider I may not have done it properly).? How can I get Windows to install the software correctly and then stop attempting to re-install the software?(Below is the text of the message I get.)

When I rebooted everything re-installed except for USB Mass Storage Device.
View 4 Replies View RelatedEvery now and then my WiFi stops working, and if I go to dev mgr, the General tab tells me that "No drivers are installed for this device" for device status. On the other tabs, however, I have all the details on the installed driver, and if I ask Windows to update the driver, it tells me that the best driver is already installed. The problem is solved by rebooting, but I find that annoying. I'd like to figure out WHY it does that. I've saved earlier versions of that particular driver from over the last three years, and the problem occurs with all of the drivers. This is a Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit system. The driver is an Intel driver; the one installed at this moment (it just happened again, and I have not rebooted, since I had a powerline enet outlet handy), and the version of the Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN is 14.3.1. I have other versions of that driver saved, from 13.2.1.5 to 15.1.1_Ds64. I had reverted to the 14.3.1 because the more recent versions seemed to be worse about the driver disabling itself or whatever it is doing.Coincidentally with this, the event viewer shows that mmc.exe was terminated because it was hanging. I had just run sfc yesterday, and there are no corrupt files that Windows cannot fix, and there weren't even any corrupt files that it DID fix.

It would not install because of a Java error. This is also the problem preventing with her logging onto her bank account. So I updated her Java to version 7 and confirmed it on Java's site.Still no joy. Mcafee will not install for the same reason and by the way, she is updated to SP1 on Win 7.I'll put a log from TSG SysInfo up a bit later.

I installed the drive, turned it on, inserted the first disc, restarted it and follow the prompts. I selected to reset factory default and continue to follow the on screen prompts. After installing all four discs, it restarted by itself and gave me an HP logo. It ask me to restart to complete installation. When it restarted again, it gave me a bootmgr is missing press ctrl+alt+delete to restart. I pressed it and it gave me the same error again. I did all the reinstallation 3x but no luck. I was getting the same error. So, I went to the bio boot utility by restarting the pc and preesing F10 while booting. I rearrange the booting sequence, dvd/cd rom drive, internal computer hard drive restarted it, inserted the first disc, turned off pc and reinstalled it and all 3 other discs. But at the end, I'm still getting the same error.

The machine has two HDD, 250GB (with dual boot of Vista 64 Home and XP 32 Home),

When I start the W7 64bit install to the 500GB drive I get the message
" Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu."

As the disk was previously working and the BIOS does not seem to have a controller option I'm note sure where to go next.
I purchased a license and installed Microsoft Office through my work's Home Use Program in February. It has worked without issue until recently. The other week, I started getting a Microsoft Office Activation Wizard any time I open an Office document. At the bottom of the Wizard window, it lists Error 0xC004F074 and has a countdown timer that now says I have "2 days left to activate. This has happened on several of our computers - but not all. Don't yet know why some and not others (we're all running Windows 7 Pro, SP1).Installing the update reports that it installed correctly -The Setup log contains an error message:Windows update could not be installed because of error 2359302 "" (Command line: ""C:Windowssystem32wusa.exe" "C:UsersxxxxxxxxDownloadsWindows6.1-KB2667402-v2-x64.msu" ")The TerminalServices-LocalSessionManager/Operational log contains Error 17:Remote Desktop Service start failed.
