Jan 28, 2013Most times when I start my machine or just turn on my monitors (the Windows Display setting is set to turn off at 20 minutes, sleep is set to Never), I find that Windows is installing software. Sometimes it's successful, sometimes it fails.I see others have had this issue, but the offered remedies (reinstall drivers) did not work (I consider I may not have done it properly).? How can I get Windows to install the software correctly and then stop attempting to re-install the software?(Below is the text of the message I get.)

Oct 27, 2011I have an Acer R3610 (so everything is via USB). When I plug in an I/O Magic disk drive, I get an error "Device driver software was not successfully installed".I had earlier tried to fix this situation by going to Device Manager and deleting all drivers under USB controllers. When I rebooted everything re-installed except for USB Mass Storage Device.

Jul 21, 2012When trying to install my USB cable modem (Scientific Atlanta DPC2100R2), I'm always getting a popup message that says "Device Driver Software was not Successfully Installed." I don't even get a "Found New Hardware" message beforehand. I just switched over to Windows 7 Professional 64-bit from Windows XP today, and the modem was working fine earlier (when I was using XP).
When I put the Setup disk that came with my modem, AutoPlay will play it, but I can't set up anything that way. If I go through Device Manager to try and update the driver, I get a message along the lines of "Windows could not find updates." I even get this message when I manually direct it to my D: drive where the disk is.
I've even tried uninstalling the driver from Device Manager, unplugging the USB from my PC, restarting it, and then plugging the USB back in, but I still get the same error.
It really shouldn't be the modem, as it was working fine earlier and I am even using it right now as I type this on my other PC (that runs Windows XP) and it's working fine. Would anyone happen to know how to remedy this?

I updated drivers and unintalled them and still no luck. I am getting this error with two seperate ipods, i restored one back to the factory settings and still nothing. All other devices (camera, thumb drive, etc.) work in these USBs.I have a 32 bit windows seven.

Dec 2, 2009I was wondering if anyone could help me out with a problem, namely that Windows Backup doesn't seem to be working atm. When I try to backup, no matter what the files or destination drive, I get the error "the backup did not complete successfully" during the "creating volume shadow copy" phase. When "troubleshooting options" pops up, it says "The requested system device cannot be found" and gives error code 0x80073BC3.
It worked until recently, I have no idea what caused the problem I haven't updated my hardware or anything.

Jul 11, 2011I recently bought an infrared webcam [generic] from China. Cheap and easy. Turns out that it "encountered an error" when I installed the driver. Before I bought it, I didn't know that it was for 32-bit Windows (they failed to inform me). Is there a way to emulate a 32-bit application on a 64-bit system??? Or a way I can fool the driver to make it work? Or even tamper with it to do so? And, if that won't work; does that mean that the device only works on 32-bit system and would never operate on a 64-bit one? I tried the webcam and driver on a 32-bit laptop and it worked fine. So they device isn't faulty.

May 28, 2011I have come across the message (from a video card failure) that says "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered." The solution is to do all of the following steps:
1. Uninstall all video drivers
2. Update your drivers to the latest version
3. Update your bios
4. Try different PCIe/PCI/AGP slots on your motherboard
5. Try different power rails coming from your power supply - make sure your power supply can support your graphics card.
6. Update your version of Direct X
7. Update your chipset drivers
8. Go to your video card settings>advanced settings> and set everything to application controlled
9. Go to your video card settings>advanced manage 3D settings> and turn off vertical sync
10. make sure your card is not overheating
11. Memory can sometimes cause video problems, run a memtest

Set 9 is what fixed my problem. If none of this works reinstall your OS and try all these steps again.

Fix Broken Registry Startup Error
Feb 16, 2010Recently my custom-built pc has come across an error where it at boot-up it says "windows has detected an error and canceled startup to prevent system damage".
I am pretty sure that this is a registry error because of what happened before, heres the full story.
I first had to delete a couple game files from the registry of my computer because they had been corrupt to the point where the uninstaller was missng but some files were still there and the game was still installed, so i had to manually uninstall the game. I followed steps from a online source and made sure that i only deleted the files specific to the game and not to touch anythign else. After doing this i rebooted and my pc was still workign fine. Then, i opened up my registry defragger (glary utilities) and ran a registry defrag. It told me that it would clear up 77% of the space(i hadn't run it before and i built my pc about 5 months ago) but i ran it anyways. After the auto reboot after defragging it came up with the error message and no longer starts windows.
I had backed up my files with Norton backup but was unable to do a system restore because it said "you need to have system protection enabled on drive c", i only have one hard drive with both windows and my data on it. It also cant find any system images to mirror and revert to. Windows tried repairng the errors but couldnt. It also scanned for any memory errors and found none. I have tried every option on the windows bootup system repair menu with no success.
I was thinking that i could take out my hard drive and plug it into a one of those devices that turns an internal drive into a external usb drive. If i were to do this and plug it into another computer, is there a way i can repair the registry? Does anybody know of anyway to do this or of any better solutions to this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
