I have a old creative Live value sound card which only worked in XP the vista drivers were never released, so can I connect that card & install the XP drivers in XP mode & make the card usable under windows 7 XP mode? That Card does not have windows 7 drivers either.
I have Asus M/B P5KPL-VM which supports 3gb ram, but only allows 2gb while I have 4gb installed. Would I have to update my Bios, since it is original from 2008?
I am trying to install drivers for an Adaptec AHA-2940 SCSI card.
The adaptec website there is no 64 bit version available, but i have been reading around for solutions with no success.
I need the "Adaptec AIC-7870 PCI SCSI Controller" ... but there is no 64 bit version for that. When i try to install the drivers (there is no installer program, i just need to use the update drivers feature of windows) it says that it is not a 64 bit version so i can't use it.
To make long story short, I need to buy this old ATI Radeon 7000 but I want to make sure that this card is supported by windows 7.
I search for official driver from AMD but seems they no longer support it but I found the driver for windows 7 on the net. ATI Radeon 7000 drivers. Can someone please confirm it works with Windows 7?
I have recently bought a HDTV from Philips 32" and it is announced as 1080p.
Now, when i tried connecting it to my computer, it says that 1366x768 is the native resolution, and not 1920x1080. I have even tried creating a custom resolution as 1080p to see if it works , but no luck.
So, how do i get this TV to work on 1080p?
Or better, how do i check to see if it really is 1080p?
chipsets supported by the motherboard. My CPU is Celeron 450.Here it shows the CPU is supported by the motherboard: ASRock > Products > P5B-DE.(If you click on "overview and specifications" it shows how the chipset supported is P965)

So a while back i fished a working dell laser printer out of a dumpster at school. i had it working with xp just fine, but i cant seem to find win7 drivers for it anywhere but dell's shitty website where their download manager wont even recognize that i have the drivers in my list. with the virtual xp mode in win7, can i use the xp drivers with the printer?
I just install Win 7 64-bit (Home Premium). I want to use several audio software applications that work through a "professional" sound card, the M-Audio Delta. This card has problems in the 64-bit drivers, and I wondered if I could use XP Mode (32 bit). But the software that drives the card needs as much RAM as possible, up to the full 8 GB I have in my machine. If I understand virtualization right, XP mode will be 32 -bit (well *I* need 32 bit in order to use the right drivers) which means it will not have access to all my memory. I could run my audio software in Win 7, but then it's a different "virtual" machine and it would have no access to my sound card. if I install Win 7 *32 bit* now, just to get things working, can I do an easy upgrade to 64 bit without losing my data?
Do I need to install hardware drivers in XP mode also. I have only took a quick peek at it as of yet so haven't checked the device manager to see what is says.
Update: It shows alot of Intel devices for my LAN and vid card when they are not Intel they are both Nvidia stuffs. And why is it auto hiding the IE8 update? I clicked to restore but did not install it but when I went back after the reboot from the other updates it hid it again...is there a reason for the hiding of this update? I most likely will rarely ever use XP mode since everything I use worked with Vista and when I get everything installed again on 7 I don't think I will have too many problems.
i've installed Windows 7 RC1 and its working beautifully!
i'm working from home with a software called Avaya 6
this software work good in vista but no in Windows 7 rc1
i've installed win xp mode and the software work but a message from the software showed up and told it it doesn't have any sound devices...i looked up in device manager and it was correct..
One of the things you may discover is that not all of your older programs/games/drivers will work under 7, and their 7 compliant versions may not be availabe. In this case, you can try install and run them in Vista (or XP) compatible mode. To run a file in compatibility mode:
1. Right click on the executable file and click the "Properties" option
2. Select the "Compatibility tab"
3. From the drop-down menu, choose the operating system to run your file compatible with
4. Click OK
5. Run it "Compatibility" tab explained by Microsoft
If compatibility mode does not help, you can try force windows to use the standard device drivers:
1. In Device Manager, right-click your device (e.g. video adapter), and then click "Uninstall" to remove the device.
2. Restart your computer. After you log on, you receive a "New Hardware Found" dialog box with the device listed as the description and the "Found New Hardware Wizard" starts
3. Click "Next" to start the wizard
4. Click "search for suitable driver", and then click "Next"
5. Click to clear all of the search option check boxes, and then click "Next"
This way windows can install a standard driver for hardware like VGA, fax modem, printer, etc.How to force Windows to use a standard VGA compatible driver
I have been adjusting my DRAM timings in the BIOS and lose the ability to reboot onto Windows 7 64-bit. So, I power down and reboot and I get a black/blank screen and 2 beeps from the MB. So, I turn off my computer and I have to remove my Graphics card to access the OS again. Can anyone suggest an option or two that will help me restore to SLI mode?
My laptop just shut itself down saying something about it being damaged if it didn't. I didn't see the error myself someone else was on it at the time. It will not boot in any mode, safemode it gets stuck at random drivers it won't even boot from my OS disc to repair. It will load all the files from the disc then it shows the initial Windows start screen then is just black with the mouse pointer.

I used clonezilla to copy the data on my laptop drive to an external 640gb drive I had. The cloning process went fine but when I went to boot on the 640gb drive I (expectantly) got a blue screen error. Now, the way to fix this would be to boot into safe mode and delete the drivers but for some reason every time I boot and press the f8 button it brings me into the Windows Error Recovery mode menu which has no options for safe mode and doesn't help at all.
I have this windows 7 for year and not have problems until now. Now the windows doesn't respond when it works and only the mouse fan move, but with cursor in position of loading. ctrl+alt+delete doesn't work and only shut down the computer can work. I tried use "safe mode" and the sound driver didn't work. I succeeded to do recovery two times but the problem repeat on itself. I tried to scan for virus but there wasn't. How can I handle it?
What do I need to do? I can't get on the internet, use my mouse, or do anything. I used the bcdedit.exe command and the watermark went away, but its still acting like its in test mode.
I have what most of you would class as a legacy machine. I self build this pc just before AGP got phased out, then had a kid and now cant afford to continue rig building. What I have is what I have, upgrading components isn't an option, unfortunately. So I have had a GeForce 7600gt card running in my rig for some time as that was, as far as I knew, the best AGP card I could get (didn't really want Radeon as nVidia have always been great)Recently I upgraded my Little Bro's pc for him and stumbled across the ASUS AH4650 AGP, which I gather is just the Radeon re-labeled. With a little bit of frigging about I got it installed and working fine on his machine and thought it would be great in my rig.
Off I went and purchased myself one, deleted all the nVidia drivers and stuff in safe mode using driver sweeper. Ran ccleaner to make sure all residual stuff was gone. Installed the card and rebooted. This is where the fun started.I have tried installing the current Catalyst Control centre for AGP, device manager see's AH4650 but I get "no ati drivers installed or installed incorrectly" or something like thatremoved everything and installed the AGP 11-1 Hotfix, device manager see's AH4600 series but I get "no ati drivers installed or installed incorrectly" or something like thatremoved everything and installed just the drivers manually, device manager see's AH4650 but I get "no ati drivers installed or installed incorrectly" or something like thatI have tried many of the suggestions here but always seem to be coming to a loss and I'm not a noob when it comes to PC's.
It's bound to be something to do with the nforce3 drivers conflicting but obviously that was unsupported pretty much as soon as vista came out.this is driving me mad. I don't really want to have to return the card. I dont play games on my rig it's more for HTPC but the 7600gt is struggling with High Def and Bluray stuff
blue screen hard drive 0x0000007b 0xf9e4d528,0xc0000034,0x00000000,ox00000000 can not load safe mode what am i to do wont re store just the blue screen
my computer, a Lenovo Idea pad P580 running on Windows 7, is 5 weeks old and yesterday I was using Microsoft Word to edit a document and Word suddenly crashed. So I closed it, but then the cursor started spinning and I could not access anything on my computer so I rebooted and it started up but then just trying to open Microsoft Word caused the cursor to keep spinning again and I could not access anything. So I again rebooted and this time it was spinning from the beginning. So I again rebooted and turned it on in safe mode and everything was fine. Then turned it off and left it off overnight. In the morning I tried to boot in normal mode and it did boot but it was again spinning and I could not access anything. So I again rebooted in safe mode and I can use my computer fine. And also, this is unrelated, but I was wondering if anyone could tell me what I need to do to make the scroll bar stop moving on its own? Every time I scroll down a page it seems to lock the scroll bar and so when I move the cursor away from the scroll bar, the scroll bar still moves and I cannot click any links or anything on that webpage.
