Does anyone know of anything that will fully disable mouse acceleration in W7? Turning the "precision" off in CPanel, and setting up Mouse keys to change the accelerate rates does not fully disable acceleration in all games. I have a g5 mouse and have tried using set-point to override the O/S, but that still does not fully disable it in all games.

I'm not sure if this is a hardware or Windows 7 issue. Is it possible to disable the touchpad and click bar on a Gateway LT4004u by adding a USB mouse? An elderly user keeps resting her hand on the click bar and is having trouble using the touchpad to move the cursor.
have researched this problem and found the remedy to make the browser and mail programs the defaults in the Control Panel>Default Programs.I have Windows 7 Professional and Windows Live Mail. I also went to the Options windows of Windows Live Mail to insure that it was set as the default. I then went to the Internet Explorer Internet Options window and found that "Internet Explorer (64-bit) cannot be the default browser."I know about using IE 32-bit - I have had to use it for some websitesWhat is the point of have 64-bit if it isn't usable in all situations?? I haven't noticed any difference between the 64-bit version and the 32-bit version. What is it??I guess I need to figure out how to have my internet connection icon open the 32-bit version instead of the 64-bit version.

I'm trying to partition my 500 GB hard drive into 3 drives total. Right now, there is only a C Drive, but I want to divide that.
When I go into the Windows 7 installation, this is what I see:
Extend and new are grayed out, and even in disk management, there is no unallocated space.
Can somebody please guide me into partitioning this hard drive. I've searched and the only answers I find are for dual boot setups. Partition Magic is not supported by Vista (.: 7 as well).

I'm on my work VPN and trying to remote into my computer at work using Windows Remote desktop. I enter my computer name and user name in the Remote Desktop Connection window. I am then prompted to enter my password. I enter my password and that dialog goes away, but then nothing happens. All that is left is the first Remote Desktop Connection dialog with some fields grayed out. Even if I enter in the wrong password, I don't get an error message.
I've run into problems installing OpenVPN in the past on Windows 7, but my normal fixes don't seem to work on this box. I have other Windows 7 nodes up and running OpenVPN, but none specifically on a Pro x64 box (if that even matters,) so I hope it's possible. My problem is once OpenVPN is installed, it's GUI doesn't give me an option to 'Connect' when I right-click the tray icon. Normally, there are options to Connect, Disconnect (grayed), Edit Password, View Log, etc.
Normally, I can take ownership of the OpenVPN program folder and that takes care of this precise problem, but not this time. In other versions, the GUI can be run in Vista compatability, or just run as administrator. But, this one still doesn't work. There's at least one event that manifests when the GUI launches.
Event ID: 1001 Fault bucket , type 0 Event Name: PCA2 Response: Not available Cab ID: 0
OpenVPN does install a TAP Win32 Adapter whose drivers sometimes produce the 'are you sure you want to install this driver?' dialog.
I am new to Windows 7, have it on Asus EEEPC. On Windows shutdown option I have Hibernation but no standby. Sleep is grayed. On Power options I can set Hibernation options but I even on lid down options I do not see standby option.
Pretty much all my music files (even ones in separate folders) with images associated with it (like files to show album covers which are hidden), folders inside that weren't viewable before, volume information, temporary files, etc. Which are normally hidden have suddenly become viewable and are also regarded as system files (they are all slightly greyed out along with the hidden box in properties).

So I was working with moving my My Documents folder from syncing with Dropbox to Box and I messed up a bit. Well, at least I've found it and have access to it. Now I'm working on restoring a previous version.
Problem A: It's hidden and I can't figure out how to undo that because: Problem B: It's a shortcut and I don't know how to switch that back to something that works Problem C: It won't let me access the previous versions. It says: "Windows cannot access \localhostC$GMT-2012.09.07-20.26.55Users My Documents.
You do not have permission to access "Contact your network administrator to request access". I am the administrator and I have full access to the folder except for the "special permissions" check box which is grayed out empty.
