I don't know why or how this happened, but, for some reason my computer started having issues with the Internet and along with this is no longer showing the 'power' icon on the task bar. When I try to turn this feature back on its greyed out and won't let me.

I use the 'desktop' feature on the taskbar and have multiple rows of icons and I would like to be able to organise icons into the second etc row before having filled up the first row, or place them on the right hand side without having filled all the space in between. Basically I want to place an icon where I want it and have it stay right there not slide over.

When I right click on the taskbar and choose properties, the power icon is turned off and the button that allows you to turn it on is greyed out. I've checked it with the netbook plugged in and on battery power and have the same issue

On my xp laptop I can left click on the battery in the taskbar and choose always on, presentation, ect. My desktop has Windows 7 x64, and I can't enable the power icon on the taskbar (Its grayed out in the "turn system icons on or off" ). Is there any way to enable it or a shortcut to the power plan selections in Windows 7 on a desktop?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI vaguely recall that when I first got on Windows 7 I was able to do the new feature taskbar rearrangement with all items on the bar, but currently when I try to move one explorer item it wants to move them all, which means I can put a program to the left or right of all explorer windows, but I can't move an explorer window opened later left of any earlier one. Is that a standard limitation? is my memory failing me, or have I maybe changed some feature that does allow explorer items on the taskbar to be shuffled amongst each other, rather than being effectively attached to each other in their present order?

Some websites have very annoying music or 'announcements' so I like to switch the sound off - now I can't without going via Control Panel.I have looked in Control panel and found System Icons - and the Sound label is shown as OFF. But the little arrow next to it to change the state is greyed out so I can't turn it back on.I tried the 'show all icons' under Notification Area Icons but the audio still doesn't show.

Then today I unpinned Firefox from there because I wanted to change the icon I was using. After deciding I didn't like it I tried to go back to the one I was using but when I pinned it back to the task bar this problem occurred:As you can see when I click on the silver Firefox icon, it opens up a new firefox icon (default icon) in a separate place, taking up unnecessary space. I can't figure out how to make it go back to the way it was where everything stayed within the silver icon.
