I use the 'desktop' feature on the taskbar and have multiple rows of icons and I would like to be able to organise icons into the second etc row before having filled up the first row, or place them on the right hand side without having filled all the space in between. Basically I want to place an icon where I want it and have it stay right there not slide over.

Some websites have very annoying music or 'announcements' so I like to switch the sound off - now I can't without going via Control Panel.I have looked in Control panel and found System Icons - and the Sound label is shown as OFF. But the little arrow next to it to change the state is greyed out so I can't turn it back on.I tried the 'show all icons' under Notification Area Icons but the audio still doesn't show.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I just upgraded from Windows 7 Home Premium to Ultimate and after reboot, I see that a lot of icon images are gone, most notably the Office 2010 ones. The associations are all default so it's not that, and I've tried rebuilding the icon cache but it didn't work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI reinstalled a Windows 7 OS, and now the volume icon has disappeared from the taskbar. The only way I can adjust the volume is to go into Control Panel. I found the "turn system icons on or off" window, and although the volume icon says "show icon and notifications," it's not on the taskbar, so I don't know what more to do.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have installed Windows 7 Manager from Yamicsoft, I made some changes and its removed the network and icon from my tray?? I didnt choose those option in the program, I have checked and the options to show tray icons is enabled - it is in Windows 7 too, I've also tried enabling the network icon through GPEDIT to no avail - also tried following some advice from microsoft website which involved deleting two reg entrys and reloading explorer.exe - still no joy. The network (wifi) still works. I did make a restore point before I ran W7M but would like to try and fix without restoring.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe "My Computer" icon is missing from my desktop. It's also missing from the Administrator account and I can't get it show either on any new account that I create. I use here at home Windows Professional. All other icons from the Desktop Icon Settings windows work fine. (e.g.: Control panel, Network etc...). I know people will try to give the basic solutions so I will just say that I have done all the basic things like check "show on desktop", checking "My Computer" in Desktop icon setting window, viewshow desktop icons, refreshing the icon cache, using 3rd party software like Ultimate Windows Tweaker, using Godmode, and yes.... I restarted my computer. I bought this computer 2 months ago and it has been like this since I got it. I just dragged a shortcut out to the DT but it bugs me.
View 6 Replies View RelatedJust recently i have noticed that the battery icon is missing from my taskbar. I have already right clicked on the taskbar and went under 'notification area' and selected for it to always be displayed. I have also tried clicking on 'turn system settings on and off' but it says it is off and does not allow be to turn it on. It kind of looks like the icon is missing or there is no icon for the battery power. I have a Windows 7 laptop.

I had my new desktop with Windows 7 Home 64bit for about 2 weeks now and so far im loving it. The one and only problem im having is the volume icon in the taskbar.Sometimes when my Windows boots up, the volume icon is missing from the taskbar. I take a look in "turn system icons on or off" and the Volume, Network and Action Center are greyed out (cant click them.) It does this once every 2 or 3 reboots. The only way to fix it is to reboot. Its not a huge problem but its very annoying having to reboot 2 times.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 7 RC installed on two different computers and this has happened on both.
I'll install a program I use a lot, pin it to the taskbar and some of the icons will lose their original icon after awhile. It doesn't seem to effect the operation of the program or the shortcut to the program, it's just sort of annoying to have to curse over the pinned program to know what it is, instead of just being able to tell by its icon. The programs this happens to are not the same from machine to machine, either. If that makes sense.
Has anyone else come across this and were you able to remedy the issue?

View 14 Replies View RelatedI just bought a Dell notebook with Windows 7 installed. I had Vista installed in my other computer and so learning Windows 7 is a bit of a challenge. My current problem is, the desktop icon is missing from the (I think it is called) the systems tray. It's the "tray" at the bottom of the Window's screen. It was there when I first started Windows but soon after I noticed that it is missing. Is there any way to get the desktop icon back? It made it much easier to get to the desktop from another program.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI had a malware that I got rid of, but it deleted many parts of the registry.I was able to find the missing parts and recover them. Only thing still not working is the action center icon in the taskbar. In the system icon activation screen, the action center activate/deactivate option is greyed out. I checked with gpedit.msc, but nothing is set there. I also tried sfc/scannow but it does not recreate missing registry parts.
