differences of these different types of Intel processors?Looking to replace a old desktop in the near future and trying to do some research. Currently have Pentium 4 CPU running XP. For the "i" series whats the difference between i7 and i7 extreme.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI sometimes buy batches of used computers from companies to resell, and today someone called me and offered a deal.He was offering some servers using the 5000-series chipset (vague, I don't know the full specifics atm), that supports two processors.The processors installed atm are two Intel Xeon E5345.Now, I looked at benchmarks about them and they are around half of most of the top ten CPUs apiece.I doubt the score doubles if there are two processors of the same kind, but I really hope it does.Also, assuming it has a PCIe 16x (the 5000X chipsets do, don't know if this is X or not), will games run well on a rig like this if I slap a good card on it? Or the fact there are two different processors prevents games from using the second's processing power, or somesuch? (like it was for older games designed for single cores when running on dual cores)In the past all servers I found were too damn crappy to do anything else than what they were designed to do (sit in a server rack and do something boring 24/7), so I have little experience in re-purposing them.
View 5 Replies View Relatedmy cpu is reaching 80 degrees in the hardware monitoring page of the bios at which point the temp lights up red and ive been shutting it off incase it burns out ive cleaned all dust from the intel stock hsf the fan on the hsf is spinning round at a normal speed as far as i can see i have securely fitted the hsf onto the mboard mounts there is no thermal paste on the cpu or the hsf if i get some good quality paste and reapply it could someone give me their thoughts on whether this will resolve the issue?
im also keen to find out the average running temp of the cpu during idle in the bios ive been running this pc without paste or any overheating issues for approx 6 months without any problems i know that isnt recommended i just forgot to buy it at the time and was keen to test everything then my son was literally born the day after so i havent had my mind straight since or i would of got some paste!
MY daughters acer aspire one netbook ssomehow formatted the harddrive! I installed win 7 ultimate from usb but i t will not install found drivers, files are missing but no file names given. I need to get wireless working for her. Acer site is no help since it came with win 7 starter, which i couldnt find.

What I like is that Intel offers the choice of a Xeon 80 watt non-graphics processor versus it's 95 watt on-board graphics processor. It would have been nice if Intel offered that same choice in it's Core line. Many users prefer a PCI graphics card and don't use the on-chip graphics, so why not a choice, like with the Xeon line?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been getting a series of system freezes (black screen, clock on my Logitech gaming keyboard freezing for ~20s before the system resets) and BSODs for about 5 and a half months. Looking through the Event Viewer the first seems to have been 19th Jan 2012 while the latest was today. There seems to be no pattern to when they happen - some as soon as the Windows desktop loads, others after the PC has been on and running fine for hours. Most of the time I get freezes but from time to time I get the blue screens with errors such as 0x4e, 0x19, 0xA, 0xC2 and 0x24. Various internet searches have told me it could be hardware-related (particularly memory) or something to do with the registry. I did install two new memory sticks (the Corsair ones) around the 15th Jan (4 days before the first crash) and I seem to remember the system crashing during a programme install at around the same time. Looking through the Event Viewer shows each crash (84 to date) is marked by "Critical 07/06/2012 18:07:51 Kernel-Power Event ID:41 Task Category63)" with a total of 17 different BugcheckCodes of which 78 is the most common, followed by 26.
I've attached all the SF Diagnostics, CPU-Z and RAMMon readouts in the following zip file:MrCheeseUK-Seven Forums.zipforgot to say that I've tried the Windows chkdsk and memory diagnostic and both came back clean (though the system crashed when Windows had booted right after the most recent memory diagnostic).
I have a Samsung NP300E5A-A03US laptop, It has it's own interface for it's updates, it keeps telling me I need a bios update, I have called Samsung support, chatted with Samsung techs. I have done this update at least 15 times, 2 different ways. The tier 2 tech told me that I didn't need the update, He said why do you think that your computer needs a bios update,and I said, because I keep getting these messages that I need it, and it is in the interface as needed. He said, you don't really need it, I said, why does it tell me I need the update. He said ,is your computer ok?, I said, it has some performance issues, and it turns stuff on and off by itself.I have talked to at least 5 different people ,they all make me go thru the same steps. I keep telling them, this won't work, I have tried it ten times. They are starting to get rude. I googled bios updates and Samsung, and a lot of posts came up. Can someone help me and also to understand what bios is, it says it helps with computer stability.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy computer has the ancient Intel GMA 900 videocard series. The 32 bit RC1 install includes the driver, and works fine. However when I tried installing 64 bit RC1, there wasn't any driver included and it showed up in device manager as "Standard VGA adapter". I've been looking around but the only 64 bit driver I found for this card only works for XP, and 7 refuses to install it. Any help?

Has anyone seen or read anything about the Win 7/Vista drivers for Nvidia 7 series not working properly?
I have a thread over in General where we were trying to determine the cause of a graphics glitch where once Win 7 x32 was booted the screen would glitch out to where it looked like multi-colored ladders with jumbled colors all across the screen.
After running several tests and trying different things, I'm fairly certain its a problem with the nvidia 7 series drivers themselves and win 7 x32.
Trying a clean install to x64 and the drivers for the 7 series for it to see if that changes anything.
Any confirmations or disaffirmations regarding these drivers would be appreciated.
Microsoft have recently released Windows 7 drivers for their Lifecam series of webcams.

Some months ago I bought a Lexmark 4800 series printer (scanner, fax) that I'm using with a Windows XP laptop, connected via wifi to my home router.
Now I'm trying to do the same with another laptop, this one with Windows 7, but I haven't been able to do it till now. I've even tried with an USB cord, with no success.
I have Windows 7 in my computer but de graphic card don´t work with hig resolution. My graphic card is a readon 9200 series. The system only recognize the VGA resolution (800 x 600). Any drive avaliable? Any solution?

When I play Counter-Strike: Source or Counter-Strike 1.6 on Windows 7 Home Premium my ping (latency) jumps to about 20%+ more than it normally would be on Windows XP, but when I load up Windows XP I get normal ping and no lag. I installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit about a month ago and found this problem so I immediately uninstalled Windows 7 and reinstalled XP. I also get more ping (latency) in my ventrilo voice server.
View 5 Replies View Relatedi went into Windows 7 64 bit, Mobility Radeon, Mobility Radeon HD 300 Series and installed their driver. Everything went smoothly. But when i get into any game i get horrible performance compared to the original driver Windows 7 installled automatically (WDDM 1.1). My framerates halfed the usual ones o got, and sometimes less.
Can anybody confirm if this is normal considering these are beta drivers, or am i unlucky here? I was forced to roll back my driver and now im getting much stable fps...
