i accidentally delected my driver on my USB2.0 HDD EXTERNAL CASE from Disk Management. Now I plug in my external case into coputer and computer detected it but did not show the file on my computer (Hard Disk Drives).

View 5 Replies View RelatedI believe my 2tb external USB 3.0 hard drive has been corrupted (just the filesystem) and after trying to create a backup of my 200gb Steam games collection, the computer crashed halfway through. The culprit is the dying drive my games were on (hence my attempt to move them to the external for backup). I rebooted to only find that my hard drive was corrupt. The partitions were fine except it read as RAW not HFS+ (running Windows 7 64-bit and Macdrive).I attempted to recover data using gparted live cd and testdisk. Unfortunately I'm now left with no partitions and a "bare" drive according to Windows. I have not written any data ontop of the drive other than attempting to recover the partition map. I assume my files are intact.I have 1.2tb worth of data stored on the drive and this is important because one of the files contains every single file from my iMac before i wiped it and sold it. This file is a direct file copy (.dmg compressed) of that computer. Planning to restore to a new mac once I buy one.

I deleted the one in my pictures folder, and both folders disappeared! I closed the screen out, re-opened "my computer," and see both My Documents folders back, but empty.
1) How can I recover my files? My last backup was last week, and I've written quite a bit since then. I was actually about to back up again when I saw the annoying second folder and deleted it, not realizing they were linked. The folder was too large and bypassed the recycle bin.
2) How can I fix the two folders issue? I have the same problem with my music folder also, and have had problems with the folders under my username seeming to disappear, reappear, and move for no apparent reason. The computer has Windows 7 Professional.

When I was using driver sweeper for my graphic drivers, I think it deleted a directory or two too far. Sorted it out by cleanly installing on a old HDD, and then moving the directories he listed and its files over. Any info about these directories/folders have files in them, what they are called, And if possible can they be moved from one PC to another (e.g. from a friends)? Or are they directories only relative to the persons PC?

I self build this pc just before AGP got phased out, then had a kid and now cant afford to continue rig building.What I have is what I have, upgrading components isn't an option, unfortunately.So I have had a GeForce 7600gt card running in my rig for some time as that was, as far as I knew, the best AGP card I could get (didn't really want Radeon as nVidia have always been great)Recently I upgraded my Little Bro's pc for him and stumbled across the ASUS AH4650 AGP, which I gather is just the Radeon re-labeled. With a little bit of frigging about I got it installed and working fine on his machine and thought it would be great in my rig.
Off I went and purchased myself one, deleted all the nVidia drivers and stuff in safe mode using driver sweeper. Ran ccleaner to make sure all residual stuff was gone. yesterday, i got 2 blue screens in my windows 7 home premium. i have an hp envy laptop. i had updated my video driver (ati mobility radeon hd 5850) earlier in the day (although i experienced similar blue screens with my old video driver version too...the old one was also the mobility radeon hd 5850, just an earlier version). i was trying to watch an online video in internet explorer 8, and i got a blue screen. so i had to do a manual shutdown. when it started up again, i chose for windows to check online for a solution to the problem (but windows never got back to me with one, if it found it). later on, when trying to watch a Internet video, the same blue screen appeared, and once again i had to do a manual shutdown. it may be related to my ati mobility radeon hd 5850, maybe even other things which i can't be sure of...also, i mentioned that i got similar bsods with my old video driver version too. at that time, i'm pretty sure i was using firefox instead of ie when trying to watch the online videos. by the way, i was able to watch several Internet videos normally yesterday, but on one occassion i did get that bsod. also, here is what at least part of the bsod said (on both occassions yesterday): "attempt to reset the display driver and recover from timeout failed"

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a 300GB WD VelociRapter, a few years old, I bought to use as my C: drive because of the extra RPM/speed(supposedly). I partitioned it in half and it worked fine until recently it started intermittently getting BootMgr missing errors on startup. After trying and failing to fix the problem directly , I decided to install a different boot drive to fix the problem.The problem now is I cant get the VelociRapter to mount, Drive Mngr wants to initialize it, the handful of data recovery progs that i have run show no files to recover and the size to be 0.5 kb.
