How To Recover Deleted HFS/ Partitions In Windows 7
Apr 16, 2011
I believe my 2tb external USB 3.0 hard drive has been corrupted (just the filesystem) and after trying to create a backup of my 200gb Steam games collection, the computer crashed halfway through. The culprit is the dying drive my games were on (hence my attempt to move them to the external for backup). I rebooted to only find that my hard drive was corrupt. The partitions were fine except it read as RAW not HFS+ (running Windows 7 64-bit and Macdrive).I attempted to recover data using gparted live cd and testdisk. Unfortunately I'm now left with no partitions and a "bare" drive according to Windows. I have not written any data ontop of the drive other than attempting to recover the partition map. I assume my files are intact.I have 1.2tb worth of data stored on the drive and this is important because one of the files contains every single file from my iMac before i wiped it and sold it. This file is a direct file copy (.dmg compressed) of that computer. Planning to restore to a new mac once I buy one.
Included is all of my photography work, music, movies, and other various precious files that make up my digital life. most of it irreplaceable. Is it possible to restore the partition map from Windows or bootable disc?

I'm in need of a software ( free/trial/or paid) to recover my important datas that is collected since 10 years! It happened to a laptop with win 7 installed. It had 4 partitions. One boy copied datas from c: drive to d: drives. Now the datas were in d: e: f: drives. Now the boy installed win 7 formatting the c: drive only. witnesses say the installation showed individual drives.I was not present that time. After installation win 7 shows only one drive - OS C: with the whole drive as one partition with win 7 installed in it.Now how can I restore the datas There was about 130 gb data in d: e: f: drives.
I have just deleted all partitions on my laptop hard drive to install windows 7 and messed something up...I know cannot install windows 7 as it just sticks at the setup is starting screen..can I put the drive in my pc (running xp) and save it somehow ? I have nothing on the laptop to repair or anything as far as I can see ...
I have a little problem.I have windows XP and I wanted to install Windows 7.All went well till the part where I deleted the existing partitions and created new ones. The problem is after this step the installation failed and an error message appeared :,,Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation.
The other day I accidentally deleted the local hard disk partition (contains win 7 OS), instead of the external thumbdrive. Now there are no partitions that exist on the drive at all. The data and files are in there but are in a non allocated space.. what is the best way to reverse this mistake .
I wanted to install a fresh installation of windows 7 on my computer so I decided to load up my boot disc.
1. I deleted my partitions until I had a maximum of 233gb of free space.
2. I created a new partition from the free space. Windows setup suggested to make a primary partition of 100 mb.
3. System created two new partitions. One is primary partition (233 gb), the other is the system partition (100 mb)
4. Proceeded to install windows on the new partition created.
5. Copying windows files went from 0% to 100% instantly
6. Stuck at Expanding windows files at 0%.
7. Restarted my computer to boot up windows to see what's wrong.
8. Windows boot manager is missing, only thing I can do is reinstall windows but I can't
9. Can't do a startup repair cause it fails.
10. Did a cmd command for bootrec.exe /FixMbr and bootrec.exe /Fixboot and both operations are successful. However, still can't load up windows desktop.
Problem: I deleted my partitions and created new ones but I can't install windows onto the partition because the screen is stuck at expanding windows files at 0%. I got an error: 0x80070017. Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. I also can't load into windows desktop because bootmanager is missing.
I Upgraded My Windows7 Starter To Ultimate Recently And Everything Was Going Fine, But I Wasn't Happy With The Disk Space Because I Had Ubuntu As Second OS And I Wanted More Space For Win7. ( Ubuntu Was In The same Partition As Win7 C: ). I Searched For Ways Of Increasing The Size Of The Partition But I Didn't Understood Them So I Deleted Ubuntu. The Space Wasn't Recovered (Unallocated Space) So I Still Searched For Ways Of Making The Partition Size Bigger And i Found a Way That Said If You Right Clicked The Gray Square Of Disk Utility And Click a Phrase That i Don't Remember You Can Show the "Resize" Option Of the Partition.i Did That and i Received a Notification Dialog That Said That Said That If i Do That All The Partitions (OS's, Files, And Drivers) Would Be Deleted And I Like A DUMB Clicked "Ok" At Next Restart There Was No Boot Manager, The Boot Just Loaded Again And Again. So I Installed Ubuntu Using a Bootable USB (Current OS) And There Was No "Install Alongside Other OS" Option. I Tried To Run Windows 7 Setup Again Using a Bootable USB, But I Get Stuck at The Part That You Must Select The Drivers Needed So Windows Could Read The Partitions. I Have The CD With The Drivers But i Have a Dell Inspiron Mini 1012 Netbook With No CD Drive So i Downloaded All The Drivers That the Factory Installs From Dell.com And Saved It on A USB But the Windows 7 Setup Doesn't Recognize The Drivers, It Only Recognize The USB But Not It Contents(Drivers).I Want To Keep Using Windows 7 And All Programs i Need Windows But It Seems Like Ubuntu Is My Only Option.
Last night one of my friends was "guiding" me through an installation for Ubuntu to a flash drive. I was doing it on my current computer. I removed some partitions from the installation thinking it would just remove them from the list, I then tried to install it on the flash drive. (I also changed some of the NTFS FAT 32's around and stuff, But i don't know what that means)It then brought me to a black screen with a blinking underscore. After doing everything below, it now says Missing operating system. So I might have made things worse.I have tried the recovery Cd which I burned off of another windows7 computer, I tried bootrec.exe as well.I'm not entirely sure what to do at this point. I am currently using the same computer, but on the trail version - "try ubuntu" of ubuntu. All of my files seem to be intact. Also, when I ran one of the recovery options it had a box for listed OS's and none displayed, it also said select drivers to install to disk and brought me to system32. (I had no idea what to look at, at that point)I also did.Nothing seems to be working and I'm out of ideas and running short on time to get my work done.
Okay, so I go to do a fresh install of Windows 7 on my machine as I have sveral times. I booted from the Win 7 cd and it came to the hard drive selection page. Here's where the trouble started. I have two identical 2TB hard drives and a 3TB drive in my machine. My gut told me to unhook my 2TB drive that I use for photos and music, the other 2TB is my data (C) drive. I said to myself, "Self, you have done this so many times, no problem". Well, problem. It deleted the partitions on my data drive. It never formatted the drive though. After the first reboot, my (C) drive booted and I knew that I was in a heap of trouble.
My machine came with Windows7 pre-installed and no installation DVD, instead there is a separate partition labelled WINRE (5GB) for recovery purposes (I guess at least). Now I messed up my whole system and deleted all partitions but this recovery one (setting up a dual boot). I also have the System Recovery Disk and would anybody know if I can reinstall Windows 7 with these two?
i accidentally delected my driver on my USB2.0 HDD EXTERNAL CASE from Disk Management. Now I plug in my external case into coputer and computer detected it but did not show the file on my computer (Hard Disk Drives).
run ComboFix to get rid of the spyware, I got rid of it but in the process ComboFix deleted some of my files and placed them in Qoobox. How can I get those files back? Its really important as I invested lots of time on working with these files, they are .xml type ones. Also for finding them I used Pandora Recovery, I was able to recover these files with it but they were all 0KB. I have also not found any of this files in C:\QooBox\QuarantinePandora recovery shows that the files are located at C:\Qoobox\Test, but there is nothing there. [URL]
Last three weeks ago, My account was always online and I was changed my passwords. However I change the passwords, My account was always online. That is why I deleted it. Now, I need some data from that gmail account. I want to get back that account. But I don't know how to recovery my delete ID of gmail (googlemail ID).
I am looking for advice to recover a video i deleted a long time ago.The system that it was on hasn't been formatted and is running Windows XP Home.Is there any way i can recover this video?I remember that it was taken from a Sony Ericsson mobile phone and name of the file was probably "MOV******".Edit: I just realized that i am refering to a Windows XP system and that this is a Windows 7 Forum
how recover deleted pictures (JPEG format)? I accidently deleted a folder about a month ago but only just realised. I though I'd managed to recover the JPEGs but I can't open them.
I have been looking through my documents and have realised that some of my folders and documents are missing. I don't remember deleting them, but possibly could have done by mistake. They are no longer in my recycle bin, and I don't have a windows backup facility. They are quite important documents, and I'm not sure how to get them back.
Today I accidentally deleted my folder on the desktop of windows-7. The files are not there in the Recycle Bin. There are some .pdf files and .jpg files in the folder which is too important for me. I just copied the folder with files from external source. Now, I don't have that external source from where I can recover or get my files. Which software will work to recover the folder. I tried some recovery software which works for the files. I am not able to find any files. It shows me recover the files which are deleted before a week. But, i am unable to find the files which i deleted today (Shift+Del).
I noticed I had two copies of the My Documents folder, one in my user folder where I want it, and the other buried deep in my pictures folder (I think I accidentally dragged and dropped it there once when I was trying to change the order of icons in the navigation pane). I deleted the one in my pictures folder, and both folders disappeared! I closed the screen out, re-opened "my computer," and see both My Documents folders back, but empty.
1) How can I recover my files? My last backup was last week, and I've written quite a bit since then. I was actually about to back up again when I saw the annoying second folder and deleted it, not realizing they were linked. The folder was too large and bypassed the recycle bin.
2) How can I fix the two folders issue? I have the same problem with my music folder also, and have had problems with the folders under my username seeming to disappear, reappear, and move for no apparent reason. The computer has Windows 7 Professional.
I have a user who has accidentally deleted one of her sub-folders in the Archive folder. Is there any way to recover this? I saw nothing in the Tools Menu > Recover Deleted Items.. area and there is nothing in the trash bin.
Honestly don't know y I deleted it but, I was cleaning files from my drives while in Linux and I deleted the system volume folder from one of my hdds and now all my data is inaccessible. Haven't touched the drive since, would like a surefire way to get it back. Here is my set up64gb ssd Windows 7 1tb hdd internal (deleted system volume folder) 1tb external hdd 50gb Linux partition 950gb ntfs partition
I recently installed Ubuntu 10.04 on my HP Mini 110-1116NR, then deleted the partitions that had Ubuntu on them, not knowing that Ubuntu comes with GRUB2, and sets itself as the default boot for that system. Now that GRUB2 is not installed, since it was on my only HDD, it looks for the GRUB2 partition, which does not exist.
One of my friends has a windows 7 computer with an account for himself, his mother and his 2 sisters. All the home directorys are stored in drive C. Partition D is shared. The question is, how to get a partition layout like this?
Partition 1: OS + programs Partition 2: home partition for himself Partition 3: home partition for his mother Partition 4: home partition for his sister Partition 5: home partition for his other sister Partition 6: shared partition for some photos.
I had duplicate pictures in 2 locations and thought I could get rid of one it would free up some space.Well I deleted one and both are gone. Is there anyway of retrieveing them?I tried "search and recover", according to the instructions would work wonders
