View 2 Replies View RelatedI plugged in my eSATA drive while CrystalDiskInfo was running and the computer froze. There was no way to regain control of the computer so I restarted. So now this eSATA drive is not recognized by the computer. The eSATA drive works in another computer. What's really weird is that another eSATA drive I have works in the computer where the crash happened.I've tried uninstalling all drivers (both hidden and visible) in Device Manager that relate to the drive.
View 3 Replies View Relatedi have this problem whereby whenever i resume the computer from sleep, the dvd drive disappear from "my computer" and device manager. It could not be detected as well. All the hard disks were detected.
The only way was to restart the computer.
The dvd drive is connected via the IDE cable to the mobo , using the Jmicron IDE/Raid chipset.
may i know if there is any remedy to this ?
so I got a new asus P8z68-V pro motherboard. Im re-using my current 750gb SATA drive. I plugged it into the sata port, and start the computer. When it starts it says "no hard drive is detected!" I go into the bios, and on the bottom it has a disk drive, and a SATA drive. It recognizes that the sata drive is there, but when i go to start up it says no hard drive is detected. I have tried a few different sata ports and it is the exact same thing.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've got an issue during post installation. One of my hard drive is never given a drive letter, but it does show up as a possible install drive during setup.
I always have to go into Drive Management and assign that drive a letter (and moving my DVD drive down a letter to keep the letters in order).
Under Drive Management the drive has the Properties (System, Active, Primary Partition), so I'm wondering if that is the issue.
Is there a way to change Drive Properties (if that is the case)?

View 1 Replies View Relatedhaving an issue with a brand new HD I bought. Right now Windows 7 will not detect the HD as a drive. It shows up in the BIOS correctly, but not in My Computer. It is in a Frankenstein setup: SATA connection into the SATA port on the MB (it is enabled and showing), with power from an external HD enclosure.I don't think that would affect it though, as it is just drawing power from a different PS.i did some digging and found it in the System Information under 'discs' instead of 'drives' like my original HD.[URL]...

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have a Kingston flash drive 8gb usb 2.0 just like this one:[code]....
but for some reason it's not working on my pc/laptop/ps3 and any other computer I tried it on.
when I plug in the flash drive I don't get any detected sound on my windows and it's not there on my computer either, just like as if it wasn't plugged in at all, I tried using different usb ports and it's the same, I'm guessing it's a hardware problem with the flash drive itself not software at all.
I don't care about the flash itself but the files inside the flash are really important to me I just need to copy them on my PC and that's it.
My friend has an HP Pavilion DV6 Entertainment Notebook with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit installed. It's only about 3 months old. I rebuilt the unit with a fresh copy of Win 7 HP 64bit as I did not want all the bloat-ware that came with the machine. The issue is that the unit is unable to see the optical drive (no optical drive icon). In the device manager, there is an exclamation mark next to the optical drive. It was working originally. Windows 7 normall takes care of the drivers for this drive doesn't it? Is the optical drive faulty. I've tried un-installing and re-installing but still hasn't corrected itself.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a sata to esata adapter installed on my desktop but its not spinning up or working my hard drive. The hard drive has 3 ports
Usb to usb
Usb to dc power
Esata to esata
Over usb it works fine but when i use the esata and power cable the hard drive makes a constant ticking noise and isnt detected on windows. Ive double checked inside my motherboard that its plugged into my sata ll port not sata lll. It isnt detected at all by the computer even when i search for new hardware.
I have an 1T external drive plugged into esata port. It used to work and now it doesn't? When I boot up bios correctly identifies the drive as a seagate sata drive. When I look at device manager is says its a seagate SCSI drive and therefore the system doesn't recognize it at all? In device manager under drive properties it say " this device is working properly" I checked in disk management.

I only see the light on the hdd.
I am trying to install windows 7 for a friend but the hard drive isn't detected within windows setup or within the bios. I have tried installing SATA drivers to try and get windows to recognise the hard drive but to no avail. Is there anything else I can try before assuming that the hard drive may be faulty?
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy hard drive, a WD Scorpio 200GB, is not being detected in bios. AHCI mode is enabled. When I go into the Advanced BIOS Features, all the master and slave configs are none; however, my SSD is recognized as I am on my computer right now using it. I tried every SATA Port, EVEN THE SATA PORT MY SSD IS INSTALLED ON, and it doesn't work; I tried 2 different cables and still no recognition; I tried 4 different hard drives and still no recognition, so it is not a problem with my motherboard, hard drives, or cables. What should I do? I have been trying to figure this out for 4 hours.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm a bit kind of desperate now. I purchased a 2TB Western Digital Sata drive (WD20EARS) and an enclosure with USB2 and eSata interface (independent power supply).Everything was ok for almost 2 months till today it just suddenly stopped being detected at all.I wasn't doing anything in particular when this happened. I remember I restarted my laptop around the time this happened (I do not remember if it happened before or after this)When I attach it with the eSata cable, nothing happens. With USB, I hear the beep that "something" was attached but then again nothing. Nothing at all in Device Managre or Storage Management.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased an Iomega 1TB external hard drive to back up my files from my Laptop (Toshiba satellite) because it has been constantly showing hard drive failure warnings and messages telling me to back up my files. When I connected the hard drive the first time, it worked fine and I was able to access it, but didn't use it for anything at the time. The next time I used it, however, the usual "New device" sound didn't play and the hard drive didn't show up in the file browser. I then looked up the issue to find that it is a common problem where the device hasn't been assigned a drive letter. I went to the Disk Manager to fix the issue but the device was not in the list of connected devices. The problem seems to be with my computer because it works fine on my brother's computer and has no issues.Additionally, I have been having problems with Windows Update being stuck on "Downloading 0%" and have had to use the system restore several times when getting stuck on an update message on startup. I think that this may be the cause of the problem (and yes, I have turned on the hard drive).

I have windows 7 32 bit on a toshiba laptop. I am posting becuase this is a strange situation. I have a goflex exteral terrabyte. The computer recognizes it, lists it in the device manager and claims that it is working properly. However, I can't access it, I can't save anything to it, or get anything from it, or even see the files on it.
Now, I have a mac and a pc, the drive said it could be used on both. So i first used it on the mac (and it works perfectly) but not on the pc. It there a share error maybe?
I am an editor and I was hoping to be able to easily move from my computer (mac) to my clients (pc).
