When I turn off my laptop there is a message that tells "a programme is still running, do you want to have a forced shut down?" But there aren't any programmes running in start task manager.

Once it was booting back up I walked away from my pc for an hour and when I came back it just has a message saying "Cleaning up... Do not turn off your computer." I have my laptops configured to shut down when I press the power button. Problem is it stops at a screen telling me that some programs are running and I have to click to "Force Shutdown" on these programs before it shuts down. Otherwise it just sits there like a jackass until the battery runs down--or forever if it is on AC power.
Is there a way to force this computer to shut down when the power button is pressed--without further user participation.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Desktop running Windows 7, 64 bit. I usually run Mozilla Firefox each time I use my computer. When I shut down my computer, I do so without closing Firefox because I want to be able to quickly re-access the open browsers when I later restart my computer and Mozilla Firefox. The problem is that a screen appears asking if I want to force a shutdown because some Firefox process is still running. So the computer will not shut down unless I indicate that I want to force a shutdown and then a second click is required to confirm this. If I don't do this two step process, the computer will remain on indefinitely. This is pretty annoying. I have a laptop which also runs Window 7, but for some reason, the force shutdown issue does not arise - the computer just shuts down even when I leave Mozilla Firefox open when shutting off the laptop.Does anyone know how to change this so that the computer will automatically force the shutdown without me having to do the 2 step process to get it to do so?

Then when i reboot, the update icon is still there. I'm thinking since the two updates are failing, it has something to do with the 1of1 update not downloading properly. I went to windows update to check for new updates, and the only one is the two that keep failing. My computer just blue screened on shutdown today, winch got me thinking i really need to fix this.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI am on Windows 7 x64. Today I turned my computer on and it stopped at the "Windows Error Recovery". From the 2 options given I chose "Start Windows Normally". After pressing Enter it will not go beyond the black screen where it says "Starting Windows" and immediately reboots to the "Windows Error Recovery" again. I then chose the other option which is "Launch Startup Repair", entered the Disk, wait for it to load system files but it reboots to the Disk loading the files again like an eternal loop. Tried the F8 Advance booting options, chose "boot in safe mode with command prompt", it starts loading but then it reboots itself again!!

Over the last couple of days my computer randomly freezes and i have to force reboot it happens at random. So I checked the event viewer and it said The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

So i have open DNS setup on my home router which is connected to my Verizon router (piece of crap) which i also have running open DNS. I run open dns for security and for filtering i have several teenagers in the house and i need to filter content. The only problem is that they can bypass the DNS server settings by setting them manually on there computer Start > Control panel > network and sharing > adapter setting > left click on adapter > properties > IPV4 properties and then change the DNS. I was wondering if there was a way to make it so this trick does not work? I have tried everything i know to do. I have set the open DNS, as the DNS server on every connection on my Verizon router and on my linksys router but it can still be bypassed.

When booting, the windows spiral begins then stops, and it reboots to the screen to choose startup repair or start windows normally. If I do startup repair, it doesn't find anything to repair, and reboot usually works fine. If I choose Start Windows Normally, 75% of the time if works fine. When the computer runs, it's fine and everything seems to run normally, I don't get blue screens or other issues. I'm not sure where to find any recorded errors to get more specifics.
