So tried hitting f8 and fixing startup environment. But this reported that the problem could not be fixed. Then decided to boot from the Advent recovery DVD's made when I initially purchased the notebook.Booting from the DVD, I chose fully install windows option, then "full destructive recovery". First time I ran this I had the option to select run the recovery from the hard disk or the recovery DVD. I chose DVD.Then I get the following screen - Full Destructive Recovery in progress

I've been trolling Google for about an hour now and haven't found anyone with this exact problem (which worries me a bit).My boyfriend got several viruses on his Asus desktop computer. After multiple attempts and anti-virus programs we decided that it was best to just go ahead and restore his computer to factory defaults.We backed up files that he wanted to keep then followed the instructions from the online manual (Asus CM1630 Manual page 66) to do a System Recover since we didn't have the CD.Everything looked like it was going well, no errors during recovery, but after the reboot when the recover was finished, the computer brought us back to the Recovery Window after an error "RDVD folder not exist!", an error I can't find much information on. You can click "OK" then exit out of the Recovery window, but it gives you a "Disk 0 doesn't exist", restarts, and throws you back to the "RDVD" error.
Only thing I can gather from this is that for some reason it's not writing to the partition properly. Again, we don't have the $50 CD to resintall the OS (Essentio Recovery Software).However, I did find this site that clams to have official ISO images for Windows 7: Download Windows 7 ISO (Official 32-bit and 64-bit Direct Download Links) � My Digital Life I'm tempted to just burn the ISO image to a CD and try to reinstall it that way, but he doesn't have any of the paper work or anything so if those installs require an activation code, we're plumb out of luck.
My Zenbook crashed yesterday when I clicked OK to a "LiveUpdate" pop-up on my desktop. Guess it was from Asus but I'm not sure, as the pop-up didn't contain any text...
When I boot it gets to the (pulsating) Windows logo - after that I just get a black screen with a movable cursor.
None of the safe modes works - just black screens with "safe mode" written in every corner.
I've made a bootable USB with Windows 7, and that boots up fine to the install/recovery mode - sometimes. Sometimes it doesn't get that far, it just goes to the black screen even though I'm certain it boots from the USB. Weird.
Anyway, the recovery mode can't find any system images, and I can't see the SSD when I try the 'load the drivers' option. HOWEVER, the harddrive DOES show up in the BIOS, but only IF the USB is in the machine?
I have an option to reinstall Windows (I think...), but I would very much like to safe some files before the drive is formatted...

If I use a Retail Windows 7 Disc, "Windows is loading files" OK, then "Starting Windows" the logo forms, and boom:STOP: 0x0000008EI took the HDD out of this system and popped it in my tower. I ran a virus scan (as expected, nothing found), ran an Advanced System Care 5 scan/cleanup. Then I ran a Check Disk (Checked - Automatically fix file system errors and Checked Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors), finished fine. no issues.All files are accessible and everything seems fine on the HDD when it's a slave in my tower.So at this point, since I cannot boot into any form of Windows or repair or command prompt that I am aware of, what can I do?

What I want to do, is have the ability to install, on a partition, a bootable partition where it will allow me to install Windows from a directory which contains the entire contents of the DVD/ISO which is on location on another HDD (on the same computer)

I can't boot my computer in normal mode or safe mode. When I try to do so, after the "starting windows" page the only things that come up are my mouse, a black screen/background, and a "logonui.exe-bad image- Authui.dll isn't designed to run on windows" error/message (not the exact message). I can't use a system restore (it can't find a restore point), the image recovery tool finds no image to restore from, system repair either doesn't find a problem or can't fix the problem, and basically nothing else works (none of the advanced boot options or other various buttons and tools do anything noticeable). I've even tried to use sfc in command prompt, but whenever I do any sfc things at all (/scannow, verifyonly, verifyfile, etc.) it says there is a system repair pending that requires a reboot. I've restarted 7-8 times and the exact same message keeps coming up. I'm looking for any general help I can get right now, [I can post my computer specifics in an hour when I have time](posted a few). I have an HP pavilion dv6-6135dx wiht Windows 7 x64.Processor: AMD a8-3500m APU, raedon graphics bios vender/version: insyde, f. 20.I'm having trouble getting more info because my computer is still crashing occasionally and I don't really know what else is relevant; if you need more, I might need directions on how to get it. When I try to boot up normally, I log in but then the monitors go black but everything else seems to run. Pressing ctrl alt delete works and brings up the screen again but if I try to select task manager for example the screen goes black again. When I boot up through safe mode the computer restarts seconds after loading the windows logon screen.

It consists of 3 discs and the thing is, that I insert the first one in the optical drive, restart computer, press F11 to enter the recovery menu or whatever. Then it loads Windows files, then the HP recovery itself starts. The problem is, that when I enter the recovery menu, the computer will go to power saving mode after a while, no matter what. I tried pressing some random keys to get it back up, but it just doesn't work.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis morning I woke up and the first thing I always do is switch on my PC to check email and to have a quick chat with my friend who lives In Australia before it get's late over there. My PC was on, running S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Call of Pripyat via steam at the time, whilst still talking to my friend in Australia. Whilst typing to him, my system locked up mid sentence. I left it for 15 minutes, got Coffee to wake up, still froze.. I had no choice to manually switch it off via the Power Button on the Tower. When I switch the tower back on, I had no Display on the screen. Now, this isn't actually the problem, I've fixed this kind of issue on a friends PC before and knew straight away my Memory Modules had just died. I removed the RAM, switched on, waited for the long Beep to confirm my Mobo was still breathing.. Placed one Module back in, black screen, tried the other etc etc.. Simple fix, get my spare RAM that I saved from an older build, stuck them in, powered up.
At this point I had to fix a corrupt winload.exe (Or similar) likely due to me having to turn the power off manually.. I hit the Recovery Console, let Window's do it stuff, corrupt file repaired, hello desktop..Just to confirm it wasn't a one-off, I Shutdown the system and powered it back on, still successfully reaching Desktop with no issues.Now this is where it gets weird.. I have a room I keep PC spares as well as my Anti-Static mats and junk. I took my PC to this room in order to change my RAM. After I got the PC working.. All I did was put the side panel back on, take my PC back to my desk in my Lounge where it always is and somehow, some way, in the time it took me to move the PC, despite having no power, Windows managed to Corrupt itself... Eh?
To clarify, I fixed my original issue by swapping out the dead RAM, Fixed a Corrupt File and then successfully booted to desktop. I had fixed the problem, but when I moved my PC back to where it lives, it no longer works. I get to "Windows is Starting" and it freezes.(On a side note: The PC was not knocked on the journey from one room to the next and yes I did double check to see if a cable had came loose. I have not added any additional peripherals, the PC is set up in the exact same way it was when I performed the original RAM Swap)
In an attempt to fix this I have so far, from the (F8) Advanced Options. Repair your Computer All I get is the usual black screen with "Windows is loading files..." with the white progress bar. The Progress Bar reaches full, but then nothing happens. It stays on the same screen and never progresses. I gave the process 15 minutes and still nothing..

I have a Samsung Q430 Intel i5 with Windows 7 x64 Home Premium (SP1), and the computer randomly started to lag, so I restarted it. It logged in successfully the first few times, but became extremely laggy after login, until it froze up completely each time. I then tried the recovery CD, and it worked the first time, but nothing changed, and it was still laggy. However, the computer could not even get past the black loading screen anymore, and began on a continuous reboot cycle, each time ending with a flash of a BSOD that I couldn't catch. [code] My computer has been getting BSOD'S for several days after installing java 7 update 8.I somehow managed to get system back on it's track for few times with cd/usb booting but now, when i start it i just get a black screen no beeps at all and back, gpu and cpu fans are working on max.Tried reseting bios with clr cmos button and taking the bios battery out but nothing helps.I thought it could be hardware error and as there was black screen i suspected the gpu which was making problems before the fan came off so I replaced it with accelero l2 pro.I don't think it's the mobo problem because when i remove both ram sticks i get like 8 beeps until it restarts and everything repeats.But on the other hand how could it be hardware problem if comp autorecovered bios.I also thought about flashing the bios but the boot is set to floppy so i am not sure how would that work out.

If I leave it, it says that it fix one error, then it restarts and does the same again. The error was that it the boot.ini was missing. So I booted it up with ubuntu, and created an empty boot.ini file, then booted the minitool partition wizard (Partition Wizard Bootable CD allows user to manage partition directly with partition manager bootable CD.) and configured the boot.ini. But still no luck. It's booting into recovery mode because that is the first partition.

I used Windows Backup and saved it to my external hard drive. Now I have almost identical files and folders there and on the now visible Recovery drive. TBUH, when making the backup several options appeared and I checked one without being 110% sure it was right.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am on Windows 7 x64. Today I turned my computer on and it stopped at the "Windows Error Recovery". From the 2 options given I chose "Start Windows Normally". After pressing Enter it will not go beyond the black screen where it says "Starting Windows" and immediately reboots to the "Windows Error Recovery" again. I then chose the other option which is "Launch Startup Repair", entered the Disk, wait for it to load system files but it reboots to the Disk loading the files again like an eternal loop. Tried the F8 Advance booting options, chose "boot in safe mode with command prompt", it starts loading but then it reboots itself again!!
