My computer goes to sleep after several minutes and I have to activate it by clicking on my left-mousebutton. Before today I just needed to move my mouse to activate my computer. Does anyone know how to change this?
View 9 RepliesSometimes when I click start and sleep on my computer (windows 7) the monitor will go to sleep but the computer is still running. I cannot wake my monitor up so there is nothing I can do to wake it up besides manually turning it off using the button on the computer case.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade from my University who had them heavily discounted. I installed it on my first computer (which was running Windows 7 Home Premium) by doing a custom install (deleted all my partions) and it activated perfectly fine.
However, at the time, I didn't know that this upgrade was only for 1 computer at a time, so about 2 days ago I upgraded my laptop (second computer) using the same method as my first computer. I booted from the upgrade disc, selected custom install, deleted all the information on my hard drive, and proceeded to install. After installing, it prompted for activation, which worked perfectly fine.
I am now typing this message on my laptop (second computer) which is has windows 7 activated. My first computer is still at my university, and I am home for spring break so I will not be able to use that for a week or so.
I literally just found out that this upgrade can only work for 1 computer at a time and I heard that Microsoft will actually blacklist my first computer so that it is not usable anymore. Is this true? I am actually freaking out.. because that computer is my primary workstation and I need windows 7 to be working on it. Should I just uninstall windows 7 from this computer and install another operation system? Or is it already too late, my first computer is already broken?
So I recently custom built a computer and installed windows 7 Home Premium with a Dell OEM disc that came with my laptop and tried using my dell laptop's activation code. It doesn't work and I don't understand why. I used a dell CD and the dell code and it still doesn't activate?

4. windows media player will not show the video window, only the playlists. it does play the file, but i cannot see the video. now, i could see the video if i left the window small and the window is not the active window now all these happen after i reboot or turn the computer off and on again. the problems seem to resolve themselves after about 10 days. but that is awful and i hate it. i have maxpc cleaner and stopzilla protection. i had not downloaded any software, i did use the restore point right after the first instance (which was three months ago). now i did spill beer on my key board and was forced to get a wireless one. Logitech k250. if that is the cause, is there a solution without buying a new keyboard.
if i want to go to disk management, i used to right click my computer > manage, but nothing happens, i have to search for manage to get into it. is this a known bug or is it just me?

I have found that when clicking on 'Computer' in the Start Menu or the icon on Desktop ; there is no response and I cannot gain access to computer on on that disk.I have run various malware, anti virus programs but all seems clear I have formatted and reinstalled Win7 and the games from DCS. At first all was well but the problem has returned . I used Windows Backup and saved it to my external hard drive. Now I have almost identical files and folders there and on the now visible Recovery drive. TBUH, when making the backup several options appeared and I checked one without being 110% sure it was right.
Did possibly I do something not right? What need I do to correct anything wrong, including which folders and files I may safely delete? What advice do I need for future?

I need to know what determines the state in which the computer thinks it's okay to commence sleep. Is it a lack of keyboard/mouse input or is the OS smart enough to understand that an application is running. I do not want the computer to start sleeping while Acronis is performing a timed image backup and I'm fairly certain that Acronis cannot wake up a computer that's sleeping to start its function.

This is very annoying it means i have to shut down the maching everytime i am not using it. The problem is that when i close the lid, the machine pretends to go to sleep for about 10 seconds and then restarts. When I reopen the lid, the machine no longer displays. I have to hold down the power button to force a shutdown and then restart.

I've updated all the driver I could find, but haven't tried a clean install yet (I do have everything backed up) and have run AVG antivirus which hasn't come up with anything.
When I try to put my computer to sleep, the screen goes into sleep mode, yet literally nothing happens with my tower. Then after a second or two, the monitor wakes back up and shows the login screen. I've tried checking powercfg /requests and -lastwake, and requests shows "None." across all topics, and lastwake says Wake History Count - 0.
