My computer has started to act weird recently I don't know the cause and therefore ran the driver verifier to stress my drivers. Because its not hardware related have ran several tests of cpu, gpu and ram without any errors. But when I ran the driver verifier I actually got a bsod.
View 9 RepliesI have a problem in booting my computer. It is Windows 7 64 bit laptop, from Dell. I have installed Ubuntu 10.04 on my computer separately. When I try to boot my computer, it runs into a blue screen. The blue screen disappears very quickly and then the computer will restart again. I guess the last line of the blue screen is something like physical memory dump.
I tried to boot my computer in safe mode, but it stops at CLASSPNS.SYS. I have also tried to use the startup repair, but in vain. I can't do system recovery because it doesn't have a recovery point. I used the Dell diagnosis tool and ran some tests. It seems that the diagnosis tool can't detect my hard drive. But it is a little bit strange to me because I can access files in my Windows 7 using Ubuntu.
Physical memory dump always come-up when i start my computer , i just bought it 1 month ago !it show this after it restart !

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently changed the cabinet of my computer and since then I've been getting freezes and BSODS, when it freezes it just gets stuck at whatever I'm doing and makes a buzzing noise through the speakers. I haven't had time to read the error codes when I get the BSODS, it reboots to fast. The freezes/BSODS appear to happen more frequently when gaming, but it also occurs when I'm just browsing. have Windows 7 Ultimate x64, and have tried reinstalling it but it didn't help.

i shut off the computer and restarted it Windows does not boot up any more, it will go to where the Windows icons should fly in, but they never do. It will take me to the startup repair, i tried repairing it but it said it could not.
I tried the system restore from an earlier date but that would crash and say it failed.

At the end of installation, I keep getting mini dump BSODs, and once the computer has rebooted the Visual Studio Installer shows the installation has failed due to a fatal error. I've followed the instructions. I get almost 5-6 BSOD in a day. The blue screen appears and it shows dumping memory... 10% ... 50% 100% then my PC restarts. Another major problem is that I frequently get "Windows Explorer has stopped working". It fixes itself when I restart. But it's hassle to restart everytime.

View 3 Replies View RelatedTonight right before bed and about 30 seconds before I was going to hit the shut down command on my laptop (specs below) my computer did a BSOD with a failed physical memory dump and shut down. Now it won't load and the recovery won't attempt any more. Since the BSOD it has a click and single beep. I have a second hard drive in the computer but I can't even access that either. I can enter setup menu and multi boot menu. If I let it sit for 20 minutes to load it brings up a notice saying my windows 7 isn't genuine and loads a factory set up. It is genuine, came from toshiba and I havent had a problem till now.

BTW the cmd "cscript adplus.vbs -crash -nodumponfirst -minionsecond -quiet -pn dpeg.exe" needed to be changed to "cscript adplus_old.vbs -crash -nodumponfirst -minionsecond -quiet -pn dpeg.exe".
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen doing a disk cleanup I noticed that the items suggested for deletion included Debug Dump Files and System Error Memory Dump Files. Both were exactly the same size (>350MB), which makes me wonder if one is a duplicate of the other. It's a fairly new computer which has only had one BSOD, and I knew about the memory dump and minidump files and where to find them. However, I can't find the Debug Dump File, nor do I know why it needs to be there as well as the memory dump. Also, if there is another BSOD, will the Debug Dump File be overwritten like the memory dump file is, or will I accumulate more of these rather large files?
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy computer locks up randomly and the screen turns black and unresponsive, at least once per day, forcing me to do a hard reset.There is no BSOD or Minidump created, although sometimes (maybe 75% of the time) there is a dump file created in the LiveKernelReports folder. The dump files in LiveKernelReports always point to atikmpag.sys. I tried uninstalling all video card drivers and using driver sweeper, and letting Windows use default graphics. I continued to get the same freezes, except no dump files were created at all in LiveKernelReports. I then reinstalled the ATI drivers, and the symptoms persist, now with dump files again pointing to the same atikmpag.sys.this only happens when the system is idle for a while. I never get freezes when actively using the system, but if I return to it after an hour or more, it's just a black screen and I must do a hard reset.I am running Win 7 professional 64-bit full version, 8 gb ram, 1gb ddr5 msi video card.Another strange symptom: After the hard reset, the computer has deleted all of my IE cookies. It also has forgotten the IE window size after these hard resets... very bizarre. In fact, if I make any changes to the desktop -- for example, by moving the icons or re-sorting them by name -- Windows doesn't remember this either. On reboot, it reverts to whatever I had on the desktop before making the changes. This does not happen on a normal restart/reboot. If I do not wait for it to crash, and instead I reboot normally, all of my settings/cookies/window sizes are preserved like you'd expect.
I've tried the following:
- ran memtest86, no errors after 9 passes
- ran seatools hard drive diagnostics, no errors found
- ran Hot CPU Tester 4, no errors found
- reinstalled/reseated graphics gard and memory sticks
- running with a single memory stick (same crashes occur with either memory stick)
- the windows memory and hard drive diagnostic tools, no errors found
- When running Driver Verifier, I get the same freezes, and still no minidump or bsod.
- Disabling all power saving options both in Windows and in the BIOS, like sleep mode, hibernate, etc.
- Updating all drivers that seemed out of date and upgrading bios to latest firmware.
Prime95 and furmark run without issue, and do not crash the system (presumably, because the system isn't idle when they are running). Idle temps (~30 degrees C) and temps under heavy load (about 60 degrees C) are well within the normal range.If I run in safe mode, it does not seem to occur, but I'm not positive because I've never stayed in safe mode for more than a day.
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit Retail installed in my main 80GB Intel SSD roughly 2 years ago.All the hardware (image below) is fairly new except the hard drives which I am unsure of and have been reusing from build to build. I have 2 pairs of G.Skill RAM in different sizes, but same specs (2x2GB & 2x4GB). Crashes have been starting after installation of the 2X4GB RAM although I have been doing other tweaks to the computer from then on. Some registry stuff might have been accidentally deleted as well.So far, I've addressed my Realtek PCI-E reader's driver update as there was a problem relating to it and some video encoder.My Windows Media Player also freezes after watching ~10-20 minutes of a video and then switching over to another.

I started using it when my cordless Trackball suddenly "died". It just froze in the middle of my monitor and every attempt to revive it failed. Googling for a solution only led me to see that I wasn't the only one experiencing this tragedy. The Logitech forum is literally full of complains concerning the Trackball.

I'm just wondering if it's possible to get Windows to write a crash dump off events like that, or is that at the point where it's just not going to happen even with the correct options selected?
