Computer Shuts Down Randomly Playing A Certain Game

So I found my old copy of Tony Hawk's American Wasteland (OLD game) and I decided I wanted to experience some nostalgia.I installed it and everything and it started like a charm. Once I started playing, my computer randomly shuts off. Just completely turns off, no warning, nothing.I'm pretty sure that my computer is not overheating because I play StarCraft II on this computer and do not have any overheating issues. This Tony Hawk game is a much lighter game, taking much fewer resources.I have an HP HDX18 laptop computer. url...I probably need to provide some other stuff to aid in finding the problem, but I do not know what else to provide.
I have a custom built computer that i finished almost a year ago then bout 3 months ago, it start shutting down completely while I was playing The Old Republic no Blue Screens. I thought at first since it was just shutting down and not BSODing it was either my GPU or PSU, I have now replaced both with pretty decent upgrades, and booted some games like counter strike source, minecraft, orcs must die, and still happens.
My Computer turns of randomly when i play a game called Alliance of Valiant Arms. It will just turn off at a random time. It never use to do this but now it does it alot... My computer has o viruses or spyware or anything. All clean.
when im playing big fish, (have loads have bought) gamehouse downloads after a few minutes of playing they shut down completely cannot turn off laptop unless take out battery never had this problem until 2 weeks ago doesnt happen with cd games. so cant play any at all.
This has happened several times over the past couple days. I will be playing DC Universe Online and my Windows 7 x64 PC simply and abruptly shuts down. Not blue screen, nothing just power off. I have had the system for years and never seen this happen under other circumstances.

I don't know where to look and I don't even know if it is a hardware or software problem.
my ethernet will disconnect randomly while i'm doing anything on it. when the first time it disconnect, i need to press the "scan for hardware changes" to fix it, disabling and enabling the network adapter results in a code 10(device cannot start). then, windows install a new adapter named "realtek pcie gbe family controller #2". after this if it disconnect again, it can be fixed by disabling and enabling it.also, when playing a flash game, the adapter disconnect very often, about every few minutes compared to a few hours if not. when watching a video on Internet, the same thing happens but clicking another video on the sidebar cause it to disconnect immediately.when starting any online games, it also cause the ethernet to disconnect. but this time, the light on my router goes off as soon as the game loads for ~5 seconds before coming back on (note that when not playing a game and it disconnect, the router light never goes off), but i still can't use the internet (windows shows a red x on the network logo).sometimes i would have to reset the ethernet adapter 3~4 times before it works again.
using asus p7p55d-e pro, and it searching on google it seems that quite a number of people using an asus mobo gets random ethernet disconnect.i've tried reinstalling the drivers, used a different router, changed settings in the adapter (switched the settings one by one).this started happening about 1 week ago, and it seems to be getting worse, the frequency of the disconnect is getting higher.it seems that when it disconnect while i'm loading a page, it will keep loading for minutes until i disable the adapter, which it then displays an error.

Prior to building the New PC I had no issues at all. I got the New Motherboard, CPU and RAM. Built the computer and started having the issue that my Computer would Lock Up randomly, it seemed to be when I was playing a game and having other stuff going on my 2nd monitor. Just Lock up, no BSOD and nothing in the event logs. Have to push and hold power to turn off and then reboot.
I thought it was the Motherboard as I don't tend to use anything but Asus, so I sent back the ASRock motherboard and purchased the Asus Rampage IV Extreme. Reinstalled Windows with the Asus Motherboard still had the lock up issue. Next I got new RAM - I purchased the G.Skill Sniper series 1866 Ram, thought that was going to fix the issue BUT Still got a hard lock up. It seems to happen when I am playing a game and have other things going - It seemed to happen when I played WoW and Diablo 3 which were actually installed on my 2nd harddrive ( Velociraptor).
I moved my WoW folder to my Kingston and removed the Velociraptor -- Still Locked up. Only thing at this point I have not tried swapping are the PSU, the Video Card and the Harddrives. Because those all seemed to work fine in my old system I didn't think those would be the culprit. I have no tried changing out the CPU but not sure if that would be the cause as the computer seems to run fine with out locking up if I'm not playing a game and other stuff. Also - Temperatures are not the issue as I've been monitoring them all and the CPU is usually at 30c-34c and the GPU runs around 60c-65c.
For the past month or so, my laptop has been randomly shutting down with no warning whatsoever. It doesn't even restart, it just completely turns off. I can be doing anything and it will happen.
At first I thought it was overheating but then I installed SpeedFan and it's still doing it (and I can tell from feeling under the computer that it's no longer overheating).
I've run virus scan after virus scan (Malwarebyetes and Microsoft Security Essentials) but it's not finding anything wrong with my computer.

My computer began shutting down random;ly. Irunning AVG anti virus software. I tried to system resore to a prevous date with no help. I ran CCleaner,but no help.
My computer randomly shuts down and in 3 seconds it starts again . It sometimes shuts down on windows starting screen .Last week i had a lan with my friend in his place and my computer didnt shutdown and if i went at home first thing was shut down if i turned it on !! O.oAnd my Graphic card Ati radeon hd 5700 is 56C at home and by my friend it was 36-39C if doing nothing . But i think its not overheating bec my computer shut down even if i it has been on for like 10 seconds or so .
My computer randomly crashes when Im playing WoW or when its been turned on for about half an hour and not doing anything (computer sleep settings are all on never). I have also noticed that WoW lags like no tomorrow and I never had any lag issues since this problem. In event viewer I can see three main errors:

My computer seems to be running fine and then it will suddenly shut down or freeze until I am forced to re-boot, does anyone else have this problem? If so, how do you fix it,
I was playing through the walking dead game fine no problems then I had to go eat dinner so I paused the game (hit the esc key) and my monitor shut off and said no signal whenever I turned it back on. My mouse and keyboard also started shutting off and on and nothing I pressed (alt+F4, ctrl+alt+delete, etc) nothing got any response. So I shut off my computer booted it back up tried to play the same game again got the same issue. Then I tried to play something else and I got the same problem so whenever I launch any game my screen shuts off and computer essentially crashes. When Windows boots back up it says that it has recovered from a serious error similar to when you encounter a BSOD but doesn't ask you to send a report to MS. Also whenever I come back from the error windows for some reason attempts and fails to re-install the wireless receiver for my 360 controller. However it works fine again once I unplug and plug it back in again.
1. Uninstalling the game that started this.
2. Re-installing my video drivers.
3. Wiping my video drivers with driver cleaner in safe mode then re-installing my drivers.
4. Re-installing direct x using a setup file from a random steam game.
5. Doing a system restore from as far back as I had (April 25th)
I was playing for a few hours Skyrim and my computer turned off automatically no power but my mouse lights were on.I booted the computer and it worked fine.But now few days had passed, I was playing left for dead 2 and in the middle of the game my computer shuts off automatically.I tried restarting it by unplugging my psu wire, booted up but it hangs on startup.AND I can't get into windows anymore1. Computer turns off in middle of game, could be PSU problem.2. While booting, two options are provided; Repair windows ( recommended ) or Start windows normally. I choose option 1 but goes back to startup then option 2 goes back to startup.I tried everything from going to safemode, restoring, safe mode with command prompt, changing configuration on BIOS, reseting bios and unplugging rams and graphics card. I wanted to start this thread about my computer that shuts down as soon as certain games start.I have an alienware Area 51 ALX
12 gb ram amd 6990 saphire card (I have 2 but removed one and get the same problem) I7-975 CPU is liquid cooled 1.2 kw power supply
(Almost all the parts from the motherboard, video cards, radiator, fans, power supply, have been replaced already and the error continues.)
Troubleshooting I did: Ran this dell mem test thing and all memory passed Checked cpu using torture test with prime95: no errors used GPU-Z: temps dont seem to get that high
The games dont even run this is on a clean install of windows 7 nothing else installed except fresh video card drivers 12.4 and steam. As soon as I switch this one game Cursed crusade for example to 1920x1080 resolution the computer just reboots, no bsod or anything. Other games once the game starts it reboots.At this point they want me to do a system exchange, the problem is my machine they dont make anymore, which would mean downsizing to an alienware aurora that with dual 6990's I am pretty sure would melt.I would like to keep this system so I would rather find a solution since it may be something that I have not checked.I see the same error as previously before doing a clean install. My computer unexpectedly shuts down while playing some games. I'll play for about 5 minutes, then I hear a beep and the computer immediately shuts down. I thought that maybe it was because I was putting too much strain on my gpu (nvidia gtx 230), so i tried lowering my settings, but that changed nothing. This only happens for some games, and occasionally, the computer will not shut down. I am using an hp dv7t laptop with a core i7 720 quad core processor and 4 gigs ram..
I am having a big issue with my computer. I originally ran windows xp professional until i upgraded to adobe cs5 and needed to switch to windows 7.now that i have windows 7 my programs stop working constantly. if i'm working in photoshop on a large photo the screen will go blank and a bubble will pop-up saying "driver stopped working but has started working again" and a lot of times photoshop, illustrator, and FL Studio will stop working and need to be shut down and started again. i've noticed sometimes when the computer is on overnight i'll wake up and it will be off. when i turn on the computer it will say that it didn't shut down properly. i was in the process of doing batch photo edits and it shut down on me right in the middle so i've got to figure out the problem. since i use this computer for freelance graphic design and photography. here are my specs.
I just built a new computer and whenever I play the game CoD:mw3 my computer randomly crashes, sometimes it'll show pale blue on my screen sometimes it'll be yellow and there really is no specific timing for it either. I've already upgraded my drivers.
HoN or Steam games like mass effect, dead space etc will crash. Everything was working fine until I tried to upgrade my nvidia drivers to play BF3 and since then I can't figure out why it won't work. When the PC is on it will depending on how long its been on will randomy just shut off. When it shuts off, it "sometimes" reboots but most often it "tries" to reboot but fails and then stays off. After this failed try to reboot if I press the power button on the case and mobo, nothing.Now if I turn OFF the PSU leave it for a few minutes and come back turn the PSU switch on and press the power button the system comes to life for a second or two then dies and will no respond to the power buttons until I turn off the PSU again.I have gotten it up and running from this state by leaving it off and unplugged for a couple of hours. When I say the PC comes to life for a second or two, I mean the case fans. If I get it booted up the BIOS is reset to default for some reason. Also if it makes it to windows, the notification area icons also gets reset... very very odd.I have a short video of the problem, sorry for the darkness, I finally decided to video it and it was 11pm.PSU dying or Mobo. I dont have extra's so I cant test them.Forgot to mention, ive checked for heat problems but none of my temps are high, they are all normal and its a Antec 1200 with tons of air movement.Event Viewer shows nothing expect for unexpected shutdown. My event viewer is clean from any errors also. I do not get any BSOD and this is on a fresh Windows 7 install from late Jan.
I just went to Windows 7 on my laptop, got the 'quick-launch' working but when I click on one of the icons that icon disapears. If I start up a browser lets say, and I need to open another browser window I can't use the quick-launch cuz that icon disappears as soon as I opened the first window.Same with all of them, including 'windows explorer', one window and the icon disappears, is there a way to get them to stay?
so I had this homemade computer, the specs: [CODE]and after I uninstalled linux from my Ubuntu-Seven dual boot,I used the MBR and boot command in the ERD to fix my bootloader so I can use windows. but after a while, it started powering off randomly, even when I was using it. then when I switch it back on, it says windows was shut down improperly, making me think it's a hardware problem. ver the past year I could say I have been been getting a lot of random shutdowns with my Dell Studio 15. This can happen when I'm browsing the web, trying to play a game, or I leave my laptop on for a extended period of time (a day or more). I realize a year is along time to wait to solve a problem, but better now than never. My laptop is a Dell Studio 1555 running Windows 7 x64. Sometimes when I turn my laptop back on I can hear the fan running rapidly, yet when it shuts off I do not hear it. I believe these are due to heat and I just need to clean out my laptop. If and when I leave it on I come back to find it has restarted and most of the time there is a not a Blue Screen notice. Usually in this situation I just left my laptop on or I am streaming media. Sometimes it will Blue Screen but most recently, within the past few months it has not. Today it actually has produced one. Unfortunately I believe most logs are deleted due to my use of CCleaner and TuneUp Utilities, but I do have Critical events in my Error Logs which date back to 2 months ago.
Not sure why its doing this. Just installed a clean version of windows 7 from vistaLeft it on all night last night cause was dling something to wake up with my computer off. Then later today had it on, has been working fine and then went out to eat and it was off again. Does it shut off after being idle ? is that a new feature or is something wrong?
I leave my game running at night when I get up in the morning the computer's still on but the game client is no longer running, what is shutting down the game?
The PC happens to be shutting down on its own and worse thing that frightens me is that it does not switch back on for at least the next 30 mins or so .. something like a cooling period.. I'm pretty sure that it may not be a heating issue because this shutting down does not necessarily happen when playing graphic intensive games.. happens sometimes when I leave the PC unattended or when there is just some mp3 playing on it.. hard for me to diagnose the root cause. The event viewer in control panel (which is something amazing in win 7 for troubleshooters !) seems to be capturing too many errors / warning / critical events. These shut downs happen to be critical events.
