This has happened several times over the past couple days. I will be playing DC Universe Online and my Windows 7 x64 PC simply and abruptly shuts down. Not blue screen, nothing just power off. I have had the system for years and never seen this happen under other circumstances.
This has happened several times over the past couple days. I will be playing DC Universe Online and my Windows 7 x64 PC simply and abruptly shuts down. Not blue screen, nothing just power off. I have had the system for years and never seen this happen under other circumstances. I don't know how to figure this out at all. I don't know where to look and I don't even know if it is a hardware or software problem.
So I found my old copy of Tony Hawk's American Wasteland (OLD game) and I decided I wanted to experience some nostalgia.I installed it and everything and it started like a charm. Once I started playing, my computer randomly shuts off. Just completely turns off, no warning, nothing.I'm pretty sure that my computer is not overheating because I play StarCraft II on this computer and do not have any overheating issues. This Tony Hawk game is a much lighter game, taking much fewer resources.I have an HP HDX18 laptop computer. url...I probably need to provide some other stuff to aid in finding the problem, but I do not know what else to provide.
I have a custom built computer that i finished almost a year ago then bout 3 months ago, it start shutting down completely while I was playing The Old Republic no Blue Screens. I thought at first since it was just shutting down and not BSODing it was either my GPU or PSU, I have now replaced both with pretty decent upgrades, and booted some games like counter strike source, minecraft, orcs must die, and still happens.
I leave my game running at night when I get up in the morning the computer's still on but the game client is no longer running, what is shutting down the game?
I was playing through the walking dead game fine no problems then I had to go eat dinner so I paused the game (hit the esc key) and my monitor shut off and said no signal whenever I turned it back on. My mouse and keyboard also started shutting off and on and nothing I pressed (alt+F4, ctrl+alt+delete, etc) nothing got any response. So I shut off my computer booted it back up tried to play the same game again got the same issue. Then I tried to play something else and I got the same problem so whenever I launch any game my screen shuts off and computer essentially crashes. When Windows boots back up it says that it has recovered from a serious error similar to when you encounter a BSOD but doesn't ask you to send a report to MS. Also whenever I come back from the error windows for some reason attempts and fails to re-install the wireless receiver for my 360 controller. However it works fine again once I unplug and plug it back in again.
1. Uninstalling the game that started this.
2. Re-installing my video drivers.
3. Wiping my video drivers with driver cleaner in safe mode then re-installing my drivers.
4. Re-installing direct x using a setup file from a random steam game.
5. Doing a system restore from as far back as I had (April 25th)
So, everytime I'm in the middle of a game. For example I was playing DayZ and my PC just shuts down. It has been doing this for awhile. It does it on other games like Half-Life 2. I have a pretty powerful computer. It doesn't have this problem when video editing with 720p footage. I've tried the CHSDISK thing (i think thats how you spell it) and it still shuts down randomly during game. I've also tried turning off all the startup programs.

I was playing for a few hours Skyrim and my computer turned off automatically no power but my mouse lights were on.I booted the computer and it worked fine. But now few days had passed, I was playing left for dead 2 and in the middle of the game my computer shuts off automatically.I tried restarting it by unplugging my psu wire, booted up but it hangs on startup.AND I can't get into windows anymore1. Computer turns off in middle of game, could be PSU problem.2. While booting, two options are provided; Repair windows ( recommended ) or Start windows normally. I choose option 1 but goes back to startup then option 2 goes back to startup.I tried everything from going to safemode, restoring, safe mode with command prompt, changing configuration on BIOS, reseting bios and unplugging rams and graphics card. And it still goes back to startup.I believe its a graphics card problem? And one time I got a blue screen saying that its an unsolvable problem and its due to a hardware problem.my specs;Windows 7AMD Phenom II x 4Msi 790 xt motherboard4 gigs A-DataNvidia Geforce 250 gts raphics card evgaPsu tx 750 Watt Corsair
I wanted to start this thread about my computer that shuts down as soon as certain games start.I have an alienware Area 51 ALX
12 gb ram amd 6990 saphire card (I have 2 but removed one and get the same problem) I7-975 CPU is liquid cooled 1.2 kw power supply
(Almost all the parts from the motherboard, video cards, radiator, fans, power supply, have been replaced already and the error continues.)
Troubleshooting I did: Ran this dell mem test thing and all memory passed Checked cpu using torture test with prime95: no errors used GPU-Z: temps dont seem to get that high
The games dont even run this is on a clean install of windows 7 nothing else installed except fresh video card drivers 12.4 and steam. As soon as I switch this one game Cursed crusade for example to 1920x1080 resolution the computer just reboots, no bsod or anything. Other games once the game starts it reboots. At this point they want me to do a system exchange, the problem is my machine they dont make anymore, which would mean downsizing to an alienware aurora that with dual 6990's I am pretty sure would melt.I would like to keep this system so I would rather find a solution since it may be something that I have not checked.I see the same error as previously before doing a clean install. (also os is on diff hard drive now) I get event Id 41 kernel-power The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first this error could be caused if the system stopped responding, or lost power unexpectedly.
My computer unexpectedly shuts down while playing some games. I'll play for about 5 minutes, then I hear a beep and the computer immediately shuts down. I thought that maybe it was because I was putting too much strain on my gpu (nvidia gtx 230), so i tried lowering my settings, but that changed nothing. This only happens for some games, and occasionally, the computer will not shut down. I am using an hp dv7t laptop with a core i7 720 quad core processor and 4 gigs ram..
Recently installed Ashes Cricket 2009 but system shuts down abruptly after 10 minutes of playing the game. I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit version, 3 GB RAM and NVIDIA GeForce 310M Graphics Card.
Often, when I start up a game, it decides to crash my whole system resulting in a blue screen. Do note, however, that it has also crashed when not in a game, but only once or twice. My first thought was the ram, as it was and is giving a lot of memory errors, so I ran memtest for over 10 hours with no failures. My next thought was the CPU, so I ran prime 95 on blend and small ftt tests for over 8 hours which also proved to be stable. Next was the HDD, and I did everything from examining the SMART info to a long generic test. GPU was my last hope, but Furmark doesn't phase the card, and I even ran MemtestG80 which supposedly tests the GPUs memory as well. I do realize these tests are not the end all, and there could be a problem with any one of them that the tests didn't find. I have also reinstalled Windows Something curious happened when I ran memtest the other day. I had one stick in and left the room for a few minutes, only to come back to 7k+ errors. This was it I thought, I finally found out what was causing it. I wanted to test it again to make sure it wasn't a bug in the software, but it ran for 8 hours with no errors. So I'm lead to believe it's the ram, motherboard, memory cache, or psu. I am leaning away from the psu based on the fact that I get lucky and am able to play Skyrim on Ultra with no issue.I have attached several recent minidumps for anyone who is able to understand such things.
Computer games make my Pc crash. This happens about 10-15 minutes after I start any game. However, most games only crash when the window fits the whole screen and some games crash whenever it fits the whole screen AND whenever the game is resizableFor example, whenever I play Runescape in fullscreen, it crashes in about 10 minutes after I start the game. This doesn't happen whenever I have it in a resizable window. However the game, Minecraft, crashes in fullscreen AND in a resizable window.I already tried updating my drivers but according to my computer, my drivers are all updated to date. Here are my specs:Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7600) (7600.win7_gdr.110408-1633)Language: English (Regional Setting: English)System Manufacturer: Dell Inc.System Model: Inspiron 580 BIOS: Default System BIOSProcessor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU 650 @ 3.20GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.2GHzMemory: 8192MB RAMAvailable OS Memory: 8120MB RAMPage File: 4620MB used, 11616MB availableWindows Dir: C:WindowsDirectX Version: DirectX 11DX Setup Parameters: Not foundUser DPI Setting: Using System DPISystem DPI Setting: 96 DPI (100 percent)DWM DPI Scaling: DisabledDxDiag Version: 6.01.7600.16385 32bit UnicodeSound Tab 1: No problems found.Input Tab: No problems found[CODE]
The computer has worked great for years with 2x1 GB of OCZ PC 500 memory. I added 2 more sticks for 4x1 GB of OCZ PC 500 memory, all are matched sticks. The computer crashes to the desktop while gaming. Memory passes MemTest86, several passes with Hardware/Software memory hole enabled. One other thing, at this time I am using Windows XP 32 and what started this upgrade to 4 GB is I'm getting ready to install Windows 7 Home 64.

I've been having this issue for a while but it hasn't done it for a couple of months. When i'm on a game or doing anything on my pc really, it will randomly freeze up and the last sound note will play over and over. One of the times it happened I recorded the screen (URl)..layer_embedded when this happens everything becomes unresponsive and I'm forced to turn it off at the back. I've tried everything to solve this issue and nothing has worked.

Is Windows 7 . . . - x64 - It is an original installed OS on the system - Full retail version? - What is the age of system (hardware)? Hardware is less than 2 years old - What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?)
Blue screens occurring during game play, sometimes right away, sometimes after a few hours. was running crossfire HD 6870's. but stepped back to 1 to try and remedy blue screens.. was not successful. tried both cards separately. removing drivers complete, as well as a clean wipe of the OS.
