View 3 RepliesJust today I decided to get rid of my Vista ultimate install and install Windows 7 instead.
Everything has gone great so far, but then I decided to install and play BiA: Hell's Highway. Well this is where I started having problems.
The game installed fine, but when I went to go run the game it immediately crashed on me and said "biahh.exe has stopped working".
Now, I don't exactly know what the problem is. But since it was running fine in Vista, I would have to assume it has something to do with Windows 7. I am running the latest version of the Windows 7 ATI drivers, and the latest Windows 7 drivers for my X-Fi sound card.
Does anybody have any suggestions on how to get this game running? I really really want to continue playing it.
I am trying to update Halo: combat evolved, but whenever it trys to update it will download the update then execute it then it wil ask for admin rights. Well I have admin rights and I even tell it to run with admin rights. I also have UAC disabled, and yet I cannot update the game. Has anyone else out there been able to succesfully update?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI can't update halo Combat Evolved, the update starts and opens 'chktrust.exe' which proceeds to crash and stops the update. I've searched google and microsoft answers, and the KB articles related to halo, with no luck at all. I even went and bought a new copy of the game and had the same problem. Both copys install and update on my other computer with no problem, which is running win 7 x64. The one I'm having the trouble with is running win 7 home premium x86, it's an eeepc 1201n (dual core atom netbook with nVidia ION). I have had no other problems with the netbook other than this one with halo, other games update fine everything runs great no bluescreens or other crashes, everything is updated and I keep my computers clean and in working order.

I have a Dell Vostros 230 and I am running Windows 7. Yesterday I accidentally downloaded Search toolbar. After deleting everything possible I downloaded Autoruns to see what was in my start up. After Autoruns ran for a second the pc then shut down and has had the black screen with cursor every since. I put the reinstallation disk in to repair and can't get system restore to work.

Recently when I have powered up my laptop it occasionally doesn't load properly, the screen stays black. You can hear the laptop working fine but you cannot see anything. This happens once or twice a week, I usually hold on the power button for 5 seconds, then reboot and it resumes my hibernate settings as usual. Could this be because I always hibernate my laptop?
I have an MSI Laptop which I bought about a year ago was running fine and at the beginning of September started having the issue of a black screen, for about 45-60 seconds, between the windows logo and the desktop loading.
The laptop has:
Intel Core i7 460M Processor 2.53Ghz
Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64-bit
4G DDR3 memory
Nvidia GeForce GT 540M
15.6" 1366x768 HD
Intel® HD Graphic VGA
[code].....
The above 3 files exist in the directories asked for so not sure why it can't load them.Although the laptop works fine when it's loaded, the additional time on this blackscreen is just winding me up as it didn't do it before.
I purchased a system with dual GTX580's about a year and a half ago. I have had issues with system crashes (lockups, no blue screen, and no alt-tabbing out of them) almost from the beginning. Since I am impressed with some of the technical responses I have seen on threads in this forum, thought I'd reach out for help before I pull what hair I have left out.....
I tried literally every different bios update available, every single driver release Nvidia has released, too many clean windows installs to count, MSI Afterburner/EVGA Precision (video voltage increases, clock decreases (removing EVGA superclocking), replaced the SLI bridge, different ram, different powersupply cables, different fan speeds, and so many other things over the past 1.5 years it's rediculous.
In preparation for trashing the cards, I pulled them out and put my old cards back in. These are also EVGA brand, 8800's, also can run them in SLI with the same bridge, and not a single problem. This is while running the same driver release (clean install though) as the 580's.
So I put one 580 back in, both slots 1 & 3, and to my surprise it worked just fine in either PCI slot. Tried the other 580, also works fine when alone. Put them both in, put the bridge on, and it crashes right after Bios loads, before it even makes it to the windows logo/login screen.
Seems to have gotten worse over time (was just during intense gaming, next it's when in windows but not gaiming, sometimes at the Windows loading Logo, and sometimes even at bios load.)
Overheating? Temps are fine..even when stress testing with Kombuster/Furmark/Prime95/MEMTest/etc. temps get warm, up to 85 on CPU cores, and 75 on video card, but all tests are fine.
i am trying to install windows 7 ultimate, it's all legit. It worked fine during installation, but when it got to ( Completeing Installation )After the restart.it wouldnt load past windows 'starting windows'then it freezes on a black screen.it loaded in safe mode but got an error 'Installation Cannot complete in safe mode please restart and run windows normally.' but nothing happends normally.

View 6 Replies View RelatedThis morning I powered up my PC and got this error, 1234F:
Tried pressing 1 and nothing happened. Restarted and tried to get into the BIOS by pressing DEL, but the BIOS wouldn't load. Opened up the computer and unplugged all my hard drives and unneeded USB devices. Got into the BIOS fine after that. Powered down and reconnected the boot drive and everything booted up fine. Ran a quick test on the hard rive using the Seagate Seatools utility and it passed. Reconnected the other drives and again, everything checked out fine. I hope to run longer tests on my drives later this morning just to make sure.
I did have a Ubuntu live usb stick plugged in, but I have this plugged in often and have never had a problem. Tried recreating the problem by reconnecting everything and restarting but everything booted up fine.
The only things I have done to the PC is swap out two internal hard drives two days ago. I also have been having problems with my USB ports which I haven't figured out yet, this will probably be the subject of another thread!
So everything seems to be running fine now but I am a little worried about what might have caused my problem and if it is an indication of another problem? Is there anything I need to check?

I've decided to try and format my laptop today, however I have a frustrating error that keeps occurring and I don't really know what to do.I have an ASUS U43JC laptop. When I purchased the laptop, it didn't come with any CD/DVD's. I've tried to install some of the drivers from the ASUS website, with some of them saying I needed to download the x64 version because what I had downloaded was x32 (even though I'm pretty sure I downloaded the x64 file...).
There's one file that I had downloaded, yet I'm not sure what to do with it; it's called U43Jc.216. Anyhow, this is the error that pops up when I'm trying to reinstall Windows 7: "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD or USB flash drive, please insert it now." If the Windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this step.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI was checking emails today and I got a blue screen of death on Windows 7. I didn't take a screen capture, however the error message had to do with winSys32.exe, and then the usually memory dump messages. I rebooted into safe mode and tried running Spybot, but it came up with an error, so I downloaded and ran Malwarebytes anti-malware. It found 5 problems and I deleted them. I then ran Avast and it found no infections. Figuring it was a malware problem, I rebooted. Now Windows won't load. It gets to the Welcome screen, then goes to a blank black screen, with a mouse cursor. The cursor can be moved. I powered down the computer, pulled the battery, and booted it back up. This time I got a black screen, saying my disks had to be checked for inconsistencies. I ran the scan and it found no errors. Windows started to load, then stopped at the blank black screen again. I have my laptop set up with Ubuntu 11.04 on a sperate partion and I have not any problems with it, so I think the issue is related just to Windows, not hardware. My laptop is an Asus g72g, with an Intel Core 2 duo processor @ 2.53ghz, 6 gigs of ram and an Nvidia graphic card. Other then adding Ubuntu I have not done any upgrades to the system. Windows 7 was a installed at the factory, not an upgrade, and I haven't added any software in 6 months or so.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWent into the Windows 7 control panel to make a 'system repair disk' (boot disk), just in case I ever needed it. Making the disk went OK, with Windows 7 telling me it had successfully finished, and to label the CD.
I then put the boot CD into my DVD drive to make sure it worked OK. Computer boots from the CD and Windows 7 says it has started loading files. Then the pretty blue background screen started (just like the one in the F8 repair console), and then there was a long pause and then I get the error code shown on the photo below. Clicking OK reboots the computer, and no repair options ever load.
I made two separate boot disks to rule out a bad CD, but still get the same error #

View 1 Replies View RelatedAn error message has been bugging my lately, rather since I started using programs which use the remote access connection manager. One of them is songbird (the fire-foxy media player) which cannot listen to shared music, and SecondLife which uses it to make http calls, both of which make up pretty major parts of my day to day.
The actual error reads: "Network Connections
Cannot load the remote access connection manager service.
Error 711: the operation could not finish because it could not start the remote access connection manager service in time. Please try the operation again."
I found this weblink on microsoft support which explains that windows is stupid and I should load the following dependent services manually.
Telephony
Remote Access Connection Manager
Remote Access Auto Connection Manager
Telephony on my computer is already running, the Remote Access Auto Connection Manager depends on Remote Access Connection Manager, when I try to start the Remote Access Connection Manager service I get the error message: "Services Windows could not start the remote access connection manager service on local computer.
Error 1068: The dependancy Service or group failed to start."
The Remote Access Connection Manager depends on Telephony (already running) and Secure Socket Tunneling Protocol Service. When I try to manually start the Secure Socket Tunneling Protocol Service I get the following informative message: "Services
