Speed Up Time It Takes To 'close' Taskbar Thumbnail Preview Windows
Oct 23, 2012Is there any way to speed up the time it takes to close the preview window? By default, it takes about 1.5 seconds for the window to close after moving the mouse off of the icon or preview pane.Turning off taskbar animations in the "visual effects" does not shorten the time. It just takes away the animation, but, it still takes about 1.5 seconds for the preview to go away.

Apr 12, 2012I use both yahoo and live for messaging. When Live is connected it stays open in the taskbar even when the window is closed which makes it easy to navigate and change status since i keep it pinned to the taskbar. Is there a way to do so with Yahoo? With the new yahoo there's a dot on the icon to show your status if you're online or away etc... It'd be nice if i could make Yahoo function the same way as Live does when I'm logged in. So my main question is, is there any way to close Yahoo to the taskbar rather than the system tray?

I thought if I could find the exe file, I could create a shortcut from there and guessed it`d be in C/Windows/system32 but unless it`s camouflaged, it doesn`t seem to be there.

Nov 25, 2011I don't what happened but all of a sudden a message box opens up on my windows 7 laptop and it says this " the application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close the application" . I clicked ok but the error message box keeps returning back.If i remember properly, this happened when I tried installing some wallpaper.system seems to be working finw with all applications, but this message box is quite annoying.

The windows are also faded out as if they are in the background. I have to ctrl+alt+delete and cancel to get things working again for a little while. I've run a clean startup with only Microsoft services but it still doesn't work so it isn't 3rd party applications.

Aug 22, 2009In Vista and older versions, if I right clicked on a program in the taskbar I could then move the mouse up ever so slightly to click "close."
Now there is a weird little "box" that pops up instead of a menu, and I have to move my mouse significantly further to get to "close." Sounds trivial, but if I am shutting down several applications in a row it is much slower this way.
Is there a way to return the right click menu to normal?

However, it worked at the beginning (just after Windows installation), and it still work for other programs. I tried a system restore, and the problem persist.

Feb 4, 2010if i had 2 apps open, i could single click app 1's respective Taskbar icon to restore (minimize)/lose (set) focus. the aforementioned method would also minimize or maximize the app 1's window as the focus changed. further, if i launched app 2, app 2 would load in the foreground, immediately receive focus and i could use it right away. seems after a recent Windows Update, i lost the ability to use all the above methods. Aug 5, 2011I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate. I've been using it for some time without problems, but this morning I was unable to get on the Internet. Yesterday I'd installed an update for ZoneAlarm which I thought was probably the problem, so I uninstalled in and downloaded and installed PC Tools Firewall Plus instead. no my computer will connect to the Internet OK, but whenever I try to open most programs, I get the following error:"The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close the application."The only two exceptions I've found are Microsoft Security Essentials and Internet Explorer which both work fine.

There was a nasty virus on it that I managed to get rid of, but now programs won't run unless I first right click and click "Run as Administrator". Shortcuts also won't work (I assume for the same reason.) Does anyone know of a fix for this so we don't have to constantly click "Run as Administrator"? By the way, there is only one user on the computer and it is an administrator.

Windows Did Not Close Properly
Apr 26, 2011I do not want to have to reinstall windows and reinstall applications.On my dad's computer last night the update for windows got interrupted while it was shutting down applying the updatesWhen I turned the computer back on it will not load windows. I get black screen. I have tried the following so far: Windows did not close properly message appeared...it tried to fix..brought me to a screen which it gave me options to "Start up Repair", "System Restore" and "System Image".I tried System Restore, there were only one restore point I can choose from some reason and it did not work. The message returns with System Restore failed.I then tried the Startup Repair. It stated that it may or may not fixed the problem. It restarts to Windows I get the Windows logo splash screen without the Windows 7 text. It then says "FATAL error C0000034 applying update operation 197 of 113977.Also I want to mention I cannot boot into safe mode. It just hangs.

If I choose Force Shutdown, it warns me that I'll lose any unsaved data. In the past when I ran WinXP, I would only get this msg if I had an open file that I hadn't saved changes on. So as long as all my files were saved, I could have 10 programs open and Windows would shut them all down automatically when I shut down the computer. My work computer runs Win7, and it will do the same thing. I searched online and found a way to force shutdown, but will that shut down the computer even if I have an unsaved file in Word or Excel or whatever?
