Laptop Freeze Every Few Seconds?
Nov 7, 2011At first I thought it was just online videos, but I've found that it's also when I type - Every few moments my typing will freeze momentarily, just like videos. Something is causing my computer to do this, but I have no idea what. It only started doing this recently.

Jan 7, 2012I'm having an issue with my Windows 7 machine where it occasionally seems to freeze up for about 10-15 seconds. My mouse still works, but whatever software I have running, whether it be IE9, MS Outlook, Quicken, or pretty much anything else, will freeze for a few seconds. If I sit there and wait, the cursor will return and everything will be like normal again. I've tried to pin down some consistency with the problem, as in it happens every time I do...such-and-such. No such luck. it seems to happen randomly.I've tried to see what could be running in the background and turned off things, even such things as my antivirus, and nothing seems to help. I'm starting to be concerned that it could be memory or maybe processor. Is there a monitoring program, or diagnositic utility that anyone could recommend that would help me pin this down?

May 6, 2009Using Windows 7 RC1 I have noticed that fairly often when I minimize or close various windows they freeze partway through fading out. The system is still usable but those frozen windows stay on top for 5-15 seconds. The taskbar shows them as being closed yet they are faded into the background. I will try to get a screenshot later tonight but I am at work right now. All drivers installed OK automatically and the video card(s) are seen ok.
I wouldn't imagine it is a hardware problem.

Any thoughts? It's not a deal-breaker for using RC1 but it sure is annoying. Besides, RC1 fixed the beta issue where Winamp visualizations would freeze for 5 sec between song changes, which is a huge deal to me.
Pc Freeze For Few Seconds
Aug 29, 2011i've had this pc for a year almost now and it just started to freeze at random moments for like 10 seconds, but after that it return to normal. it can really be annoying while watching Internet or something the sound gets really irritating. the picture stays the same, and after few seconds it just quickly rewinds in few pictures.

if anybody can help i would be grateful.... and yea i think (but im not 100% sure) the longer the pc is up and running the more often it will happen... and it happens while im watching Internet most of the time (or any streams). it doesn't happen while i'm playing any video games or anything like that (maybe it does but it is rare).... and it can happen while im on desktop just copying some files any that.

Dec 12, 2011In the last few days my Toshiba Satellite L745-S43210 hasn't been working right. Recently it won't boot up properly. It started to boot up and then it would freeze up seconds after showing my desktop. I managed to go into safe mode and use msconfig to change start up programs and turn it to only the essential items. After that it worked and I tried turning everything back on and it worked fine last night. I assumed it was just overheating from being used so much in the last few days. Now today when I tried starting it up I was able to enter my password but the screen went black with my mouse pointer working. I turned it off and tried again a few times before going into safe mode.
I went back into msconfig again and turned it back to only essential programs and I performed a virus scan with Super Anti-Spyware and Malware Bytes and the only thing that they found were cookies. I cleared them out and booted up windows again and it worked fine. Now I am trying to select only certain programs and choose only the Microsoft, Intel and Toshiba programs/services and now when I boot it up I don't even get the the text box to enter my password, it just shows the blue windows start up screen. Right now I am using Safe Mode With Networking to type this and try messing with start up programs again.

May 20, 2009I have a ThinkPad T400 and I'm dual-booting Vista and 7 (but I only really use 7). In 7, when you press Windows+P, you get 4 display options: Computer Only, Duplicate, Extend, and Projector Only. Since I just have one laptop screen, I obviously want Computer Only.
But every time I close the lid (or restart), it reverts back to an Extended display, which means when I move the cursor to the right of the screen to use a scrollbar, close a maximized window, or desktop peek, I have to be precise or else the cursor will fly off the right side of the screen into my non-existent extended display.
Any ideas to fix this?

Windows 7 Freezes For A Few Seconds Every Few Seconds?
Nov 2, 2012windows 7 x64 on my laptop (intel core i5 @ 2.50ghz, 4 gb ram) has recently started freezing for a few seconds every few seconds, when i'm doing just about anything: browsing the web, copying files, using text redactor, etc. only the mouse cursor responds, control is back after a couple of seconds.
* the behaviour remains the same when booting in the safe mode
* there are no cpu or memory usage peaks in process explorer
* there are no hardware conflicts in device manager
* there are no critical errors in system log
* there is no antivirus active
* hardware tests (memory, etc.) do not report any errors
i suspect this has started after i've updated all the drivers from manufacturer's site, but i am not 100% sure. anyway, i do not know which driver has caused this and i cannot easily restore to the previous state.

When the screen goes dark, I have to move my mouse around to get the screen to come back on which it usually does. After a few minutes of doing this, my screen stays on. Jan 24, 2013A few day's ago I started encountering freezing issues when on google chrome and skype. They'd usually last for about 5-30 seconds as the title suggests when it happens I can still move the mouse but during the longer freezes the mouse will go unresponsive. So far I've only encountered one freeze that has forced me to hold down the power button to turn off the laptop. The processes i've done so far to fix this s are an Advanced System care full scan, ccleaner, defraggler , disk doctor (part of advanced system care ) clean result, Ive also done a boot time self test by pressing F10 at start (sorry im not sure exactly what this is ) the memory test came clean, and the HDD self test failed the first time i did it on test 2 (comprehensive) saying Error: read memory. I re-did it yesterday and it passed all 3 tests.The freezes usually occur when I click on an application and it takes an abnormal amount of time to load and then it freezes.

Not sure what's causing it, but the whirring of the disk drive can be heard for about 3 seconds, at which point it slows down, and then the game freezes until the hard drive starts whirring again. It doesn't seem to be able to keep itself running in order to keep playback fluid; it just keeps spinning long enough to power 3-4 seconds of playback.

Sep 15, 2012i have recently restored my dell inspiron 1545 to factory settings, but i have started to notice that when i play videos or music the sound stutters or distorts like a kind of glitchy sound every 30 seconds or so. it also happens when i play videos on Internet. this is really starting to get annoying as i play my dj equipment through the laptop.i opened my task manager to look and see if there was any fluctuation on the cpu usage performance, and it seems to spike a little bit high, but nothing drastic, everytime this stuttering happens. could this be a driver problem or something along those lines?

However, out of nowhere, it suddenly began starting up in between 2 and a half minutes to 3 minutes. I am completely baffled, and I do not know what is wrong.
