But when I change Processor Power Management at 5% min and 80% max in power plan at both battery and plugin, so when I am in Windows everything works fine, but when I start a game in full-screen, this power plan will change to 100% for max and min, and stay like that. I change it as Administrator. It is on laptop Toshiba A300D.But before this last reinstall everything works fine.
View 3 Replies View RelatedJust got my new system up and running. My system drive is a 256 gb SSD, and I have two internal 3TB HDDs...one data and one backup. I also have an external 2TB USB HDD that I will use as a backup (albeit, less frequently than the internal backup). Because of the SSD, the power management for turning off hard drives automatically is disabled. This is recommended for running SSDs. Therefore, both of my internal HDDs are constantly spinning.I would like to find a solution to manage the HDDs, but at the least find a solution to turn off (or just stop spinning) the internal backup drive, since it is not used very frequently. It would be nice to do this with the external HDD, but I'll probably just unplug it when not in use...easy enough.I searched for any software/utilities to do this, but couldn't find anything. Other users have the same idea, but it doesn't seem like they found a software solution either. As of right now, I've determined my options are:
1) Manually unplug/plug internal drive. Requires access to the inside of the case.
2) Get a mobile rack for my case (eg Vantec), which allows me to remove the backup drive or just power it off from the mobile rack.
3) Wire in a power switch for the drive. Cheap, easy, simple.
4) Get an external enclosure that has a power switch on it.
Out of those choices, I would probably choose 3), just because it is cheap and I'm not adding more components that have potential for noise (like the mobile rack that has a fan in it).
When I set the power management to turn off the monitor after x minutes, the monitor is off for 1 second and it turned on automatically. I am using msi ex600 laptop.
I have tried the following:
* Unplugged the mouse
* Exit from all application's running
* Disable the network card
My bios and graphic card are updated. The hibernate option is working fine. Is there a way to find what turns on the monitor?
I have both Windows Vista and Windows 7 on the same PC. I run a 64 bit version of Windows 7 and both Vista 64 and 32 bit. The problem is that no matter what mouse I choose to use on Windows 7, shortly after using the system for at least an hour I either have pointer problems or battery problems. I use the same mouse on Vista and it can go months without an issue with the batteries going low. I have used othe mice but I am used to using the MS Intellipoint. On both O/S's I have the latest drivers and where the MS system gives you a leaway on usage on the changing of batteries the Win 7 system gives you hardly any recovery time before replacing the second battery. I use mainly photographic and artware programs so The issue is lagely to do with the workspace management in windows. Power seems to be a high wastage on win 7 whereas win Vista just takes its time to boot in. The driver database in both Win 7 and Vista seems to be identical about the only difference I can find is in coordinate checksum amalgamation on a 64 bit datalog. Something needs to be sorted because this is not the ideal selling point for Windows 8. In fact I am even more put off of the newer interface because it seems to be catering for smudgey fingers more than the everyday user whom uses the computer to work for him.

a) Off.
b) Maximum power savings.
c) Moderate power savings.
d) Which option is the best selection for my Dell laptop.
I use my PC for audio production and I have a few external controller devices that are USB powered, for example a midi keyboard. I recently had to build PC due to a theft....long story short after building the new PC I've noticed that my USB buses have continual power to these external devices after I've powered down the PC. My old windows 7 PC did not do this. Is there a setting I can change to shut off power to the USB buses when I power off the PC? Or is this a hardware issue?

View 1 Replies View RelatedOver the past 2 years my PC has been afflicted with random power off/power on/reboot events.It will go for months without these and then have multiples of the events in a day. (I had 8 of them 3 days ago.)I assume I have a hardware problem, but nothing has been found and I'm grasping at straws.The time between power off and power on is several seconds.I had assumed this rules out a software cause, but maybe I'm wrong. I know Windows can schedule a power off, but can it tell BIOS (or something) to power back on in a few seconds?I know blaming the power supply is a much more simple explanation, but then I'm left with explaining the intermittent nature of the failure.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI swapped out the MB, CPU and memory in my rig. I did not reinstall windows 7. I was pretty impressed that this worked as well as it did but I have one nagging problem... The network upload speed has suffered a lot. It's not just throughput but the initial "connecting" handshake seems to take a while.For instance, if I go to one of the speed test sites the download is fine. It starts up immediately and is steady at around 20mbs. When this is complete it takes between 10 and 20 seconds for the upload test to start (just says connecting)... and only uploads at .5 to 1mbs. Historically this has been immediate and much faster?After much searching I found that disabling windows management instrumentation in msconfig restored my upload network connectivity. In a speed test the download didn't change, but after that was complete the upload started immediately and was around 5mbs.I disabled/re-enabled this several times to make sure that I got the same results.Is there any way to "fix" WMI without wiping/reinstalling? That's my last resort.
Other info
MB upgrade was from a ASUS p5qse2 to ASUS p8z77-vlk
CPU went from Q9550 to I7 3770K
Troubleshooting went in this order:
bounced router/modem
bypassed router
reinstalled network adapter
disabled/reenabled windows firewall
disabled wmi
I had Windows 7 Prof. 32 Bit version installed on C. I had two more volumes D and E.So i needed one more volume therefore i shrinked the D and took 16 GB from it and made it new volume as NTFS formatted drive M. When doing it windows showed some warning that "you wont be able to boot except from your current installation" I cant remember exactly.After that the colour changed from blue to geenish yellow.When i restarted the windows logo started and the system crashes and BSOD with STOP Error : 0x0000007b (0x80786B58, 0xC000034, 0X0000000, 0X0000000)I ran diskpart Here are the results:My all 4 partition had become dynamic and i think this is the reason that windows wont boot.
