I have a peculiar issue with task scheduler in Windows 7. I have programatically added a task specifying certain parameters ( set the parameters using ITask::SetParameters ()). Then I modified the parameters again with new value.When I changed the parameters using ITask::SetParameters (), It returns S_OK, I save it using IPersistFile::Save(). It is also returning S_OK.

I had already setup a task to run upon logon when I noticed that the PC's name was all jacked. So I changed the pc's name and rebooted. After reboot the task disappeared from the task scheduler list but still runs. Is there anyway to remove this ghost task when it is no longer visible in the task scheduler?I thought about changing the name back temporarily to see if the task would show up but I have no idea what that name was, so that is not an option.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an application with a setup.ini file that is causing the Application Compatibility Service to flip out when I try to install it. I edited the setup.ini file to include the following (which is probably incorrect):

If anyone has an idea of how to correctly edit this file so that Windows 7 knows there are no compatibility issues, it would be much appreciated.
I was always asking myself why microsoft hasn't included the option to press a key at boot menu and edit the boot parameters on-the-fly. Well, maybe it was included in Vista and I didn't know...but I accidentally found that:
If you press the F10 key while booting Windows 7 (either at boot menu or before) you get the option to edit the boot parameters:
You can edit the boot line , similar to XP's boot.ini way :
e.g.
/NOEXECUTE=OPTIN
It's strange, cause it's not mentioned anywhere at the boot menu, that F10 key lets you edit the boot parameters!
I have a weird problem when I want to enter my IPs parameters.
In the "Network Lan Properties" of my network card, when I select "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPV4)" the button "Properties" is disable thus I can't enter the IP address, Netmask and Gateway. I tried to disable IPV6 and reboot but it went without any success.
I simply want to add the -nointro parameter to my BioShock game shortcut.
I go to the shortcut, then properties, but where I think it should be added, similar to what XP looks like, is greyed out (the word "BioShock").
What do I need to do? I'm new to Windows 7, coming from XP.
Is it possible to copy the application parameters in the regedit file in XP, then copy them to the Windows 7 regedit file, in order not to have to install all the applications over again.

WBADMIN command line parameters provides a possibility to create batch files running advanced, automated backup.But, I need a scheduled task for backup of the entire system image. It seems this is not possible, and that the only way to create a system image backup is by using the GUI?/Per What I'm looking for i the Windows 7 equivalent to the Windows Server 2008 "wbadmin start systemstatebackup" command line parameter.

Files get downloaded during the night on one computer and then need to be transfered to another. Usually I am doing this by hand, but then though maybe I could get the task scheduler to do it for me.I understand how to create a task, however I am having trouble with the action tab. I was thinking that I should start windows explorer (where is explorer located for win 7 x64 machines?) under the action tab, but once I do this I am not sure how to tell explorer to check the source folder, select all the files in it and then move it to the target folder.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have installed this game, Singularity. The game worked fine for a week then suddenly It would crash as soon as it was opened from the desktop shortcut. The game is patched to it's latest version, I have direct x all other runtimes and PhysX installed from the CD. The shortcut it set to run as Admin in compatibility. No matter if i try with the desktop shortcut or from the exe in the folder or from the shortcut in the start menu the game will crash asap. The only way this game runs is by pulling up task manager and selecting New Task then browsing to the games exe. Malwarebytes reports no viruses or any malware. Tried reinstalling, and it didn't help.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've been getting this error message:"exception processing message parameters 0xc000007FEFC3E718C"every time I shut down or log off, accompanied by "Bad Image" messages from time to time, usually concerning davhlpr.dll. I've run the System File Checker three times, and each time it returns an error saying davhlpr.dll is corrupt and it can't restore it from the file store. I tried replacing davhlpr.dll with a copy I downloaded - once in Safe Mode and after setting the proper authorizations -, but each time I run the System File Checker it still shows davhlpr.dll as corrupt and says it can't replace it. By the way, I get the same "exception processing message" error when logging off in Safe Mode and from a brand-new account I created.This is a fully updated, recent install of Windows 7 x64 Ultimate. It seems to have started happening after I tried a couple of dialog-box enchancement utilities. But I've uninstalled everything I'd installed from before it started happening.

When I start task scheduler I first get this error and than no matter what folder I click the error pops up again. After this 2nd error it doesn't pop up anymore but all the folders show up empty.

it causes some programs to not boot correctly. Like MSIafterburner gives an error, so I have to go to the config settings of MSIafterburner because it tries to boot using the taskscheduler really weird I know :/
I have a Win7 Ultrabook. I'm using Areca backup software to backup my personal data.I created a Scheduled Task to run my backup weekly.I set it so that it would wake from sleep to run the task. But I'm having trouble finding a setting to tell it to return to sleep if it woke itself up. Is it possible to do so?In the alternative, is there something I can insert in my batch file (the scheduled task runs a bat file) to tell my book to enter sleep mode?

However, the connection icon in my taskbar has the red x of death on it. When I troubleshoot, it tells me there's nothing to troubleshoot. Duh.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhenever I load up windows 7 with bootcamp, my cpu jumps to 100 % usage almost as soon as I log in. I can not figure out what is taking up my cpu power. When I open up task manager, there are no processes running anywhere near 100%. Also, when task manager is open, the cpu goes back to normal at around 2-3% cpu usage. WIthout task manager, the cpu gets hot fast and the fans start in full speed! Its insane! I play a lot of video games on my computer, and when I dont have task manager open, there is insane amounts of framerate lag. Currently I'm using taskbarelimator, but it sucks to say the least. I've tried multiple programs and haven't found anything real good with the exception of objectdock, it does really good job hiding but it takes a bit of resources compared to the alternatives. I heard about registry editing and I would be open to that if any one has any info on it.

Out of nothing my CPU run at 100% and explorer was using 98%. I had to end task my explorer each time i try to delete files from desktop or when i refresh my desktop. I tried few ways including clean reboot (only system files running), clear temp data using ccleaner, scan using online scanner and vundofix (both didn't found any virus/trojan).
