I'm running Windows 7. My wireless connection goes through a netgear adapter. the adapter says I'm connected, and I AM connected, obviously. However, the connection icon in my taskbar has the red x of death on it. When I troubleshoot, it tells me there's nothing to troubleshoot. Duh.
My problem is: Why won't the red X go away now? I have rebooted already.
i need to have a task run that will move the contents of a folder from one computer to another over my home LAN. Files get downloaded during the night on one computer and then need to be transfered to another. Usually I am doing this by hand, but then though maybe I could get the task scheduler to do it for me.I understand how to create a task, however I am having trouble with the action tab. I was thinking that I should start windows explorer (where is explorer located for win 7 x64 machines?) under the action tab, but once I do this I am not sure how to tell explorer to check the source folder, select all the files in it and then move it to the target folder.
I have installed this game, Singularity. The game worked fine for a week then suddenly It would crash as soon as it was opened from the desktop shortcut. The game is patched to it's latest version, I have direct x all other runtimes and PhysX installed from the CD. The shortcut it set to run as Admin in compatibility. No matter if i try with the desktop shortcut or from the exe in the folder or from the shortcut in the start menu the game will crash asap. The only way this game runs is by pulling up task manager and selecting New Task then browsing to the games exe. Malwarebytes reports no viruses or any malware. Tried reinstalling, and it didn't help.
Setting up a new Windows 7 install and goofed up the computer name and didnt immediately notice. I had already setup a task to run upon logon when I noticed that the PC's name was all jacked. So I changed the pc's name and rebooted. After reboot the task disappeared from the task scheduler list but still runs. Is there anyway to remove this ghost task when it is no longer visible in the task scheduler?I thought about changing the name back temporarily to see if the task would show up but I have no idea what that name was, so that is not an option.
I have a simple task (cmd batch file). Whenever I try to change the settings I get a dialog box that reads as follows:"An error has occurred for task RemoteBk. Error message: The following error was reported: 2147944309".
When i set task scheduler to run a program it works. But if the pc is not on at the time it will not run unless task scheduler is opened. It is set to run as soon as poss after scheduled time and task scheduler itself starts and runs properly
So I don't know when this: "the selected task "{0}" no longer exists. to see the current task, click refresh" error started but I don't know how to repair this. When I start task scheduler I first get this error and than no matter what folder I click the error pops up again. After this 2nd error it doesn't pop up anymore but all the folders show up empty.
Tried fixes:
Emptying all task folders in C:WindowsSystem32Tasks Download Fix My Task Scheduler 1.0 Free - Repair all Task Scheduler errors - Softpedia /sfc scannow Programs believed to cause this issue: CCleaner Defraggler
Sadly I have both
it causes some programs to not boot correctly. Like MSIafterburner gives an error, so I have to go to the config settings of MSIafterburner because it tries to boot using the taskscheduler really weird I know :/
I have a Win7 Ultrabook. I'm using Areca backup software to backup my personal data.I created a Scheduled Task to run my backup weekly.I set it so that it would wake from sleep to run the task. But I'm having trouble finding a setting to tell it to return to sleep if it woke itself up. Is it possible to do so?In the alternative, is there something I can insert in my batch file (the scheduled task runs a bat file) to tell my book to enter sleep mode?
hp g62 notebook-lots of free space-windows 7.it seems that every time i open task mgr and go to processes tab there are more items taking up space there.i don't know how to have only the necessary things running.
I accidently deleted the tab next to the start button on the task bar where I pinned all the folders that I use on a regular basis. It would be appreciated if someone could assist me in restoring this
I hate this taskbar in RC x64, I want to set it just like XP and Vista that it can be set to allow other programs to be on top of it. Can that be done ?
Whenever I load up windows 7 with bootcamp, my cpu jumps to 100 % usage almost as soon as I log in. I can not figure out what is taking up my cpu power. When I open up task manager, there are no processes running anywhere near 100%. Also, when task manager is open, the cpu goes back to normal at around 2-3% cpu usage. WIthout task manager, the cpu gets hot fast and the fans start in full speed! Its insane! I play a lot of video games on my computer, and when I dont have task manager open, there is insane amounts of framerate lag. Games, such as Warcraft 3, are lagging my computer when they are set on low
I'm looking for a program or something to get rid/hide my task bar (I still need to be able to get into the start menu though!). Currently I'm using taskbarelimator, but it sucks to say the least. I've tried multiple programs and haven't found anything real good with the exception of objectdock, it does really good job hiding but it takes a bit of resources compared to the alternatives. I heard about registry editing and I would be open to that if any one has any info on it.
Out of nothing my CPU run at 100% and explorer was using 98%. I had to end task my explorer each time i try to delete files from desktop or when i refresh my desktop. I tried few ways including clean reboot (only system files running), clear temp data using ccleaner, scan using online scanner and vundofix (both didn't found any virus/trojan). For the last few days I've been running some CPU intensive programs which I wrote. My laptop was getting really hot (70+C), so I decided to blow into the vent to clear the dust out. However all this did was clog the fan with dust and it stopped spinning, so I used a safety pin to hook the dust out. The fan started spinning and it blew a load of old dust out, and my laptop is now running in the low 40's.
However now task manager shows the CPU usage as 100%, but when I sort the processes by CPU time, nothing is using much of the processor, firefox sometimes jumps up to 50%, but it doesn't stay there for long.Even when I boot into ubuntu, everything is still running really slowly. Also, speedfan reports my CPU speed as 600mhz, sometimes it shows a few other values (1400, 1200, 1800 etc), I have two core2 duo 1.83 ghz processors, so I wasn't expecting to see 600mhz!
Below is my HijackThis log file. There are too many apps on the task manager and I am unable to turn them off. When I kill a process, it immediately starts again (SearchIndexer.exe Connectifyd.exe etc., and I noticed that all are running as services). How can this happen? And more importantly is there a remedy[CODE]
Everyone I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and I have a problem with the task manager. The problem is when I try to start task manager it loads for like half a second and doesn't do anything. If I do ctrl+alt+esc it just selects an open program. I've even scanned for malware but I have noticed something weird when I go to regedit under Policies then System there is only (Default) and WallpaperStyle. I think a virus may have disable my account as administrator.
My father-in-laws new computer (2 weeks old) a Dell Inspiron running Wundows 7 cannot perform any task, even System Restore. When I attempt to open Firefox or any other program it defaults to 'Open With' (usually Adobe 9). He is NOT computer literate and I am sure he has inadvertently downloaded a virus, or perhaps the Trojan he had on his old computer was trasferred to the new one by way of the USB for his wireless mouse.

I'm trying to create a scheduled task that will wake my computer weekly to run a Security Essentials full scan. Apparently, the MSE scheduler does not wake the computer for scans but DOES put the computer to sleep during a scan if the sleep timer is set for less time than the scan requires (mine is).I have created a new Win 7 (64-bit) account to run the task because of apparent conflicts with doing so in the other user account. The main problem I'm having involves the "details" column of the "Actions" tab in the task properties; I don't know what to enter as the path for the MSE full scan so I can't tell Windows what program to start.
Only two of my running apps icons are showing in the taskbar. I trid using smaller icons and that did not work. When I open taskbar properities and select customize the page opens for a 1/2 second and then closes. I have run a antivirus and malware progam and everything came back ok.
I just joined the forums here after trying(and failing)at resolving this myself, you see when i try and open my task manager it shows the icon on the task bar but no window appears.
I've just noticed in the past two days that my Task Manager only comes up showing the Process screen. It does not have any controls for looking at applications or performance. I must turn it off with the taskbar window, close window. Does anyone have any ideas as to the cause and cure? I have used Glary Uitilities and CCleaner on the machine.
