Restoring Tab On Task Bar
Aug 26, 2011
I accidently deleted the tab next to the start button on the task bar where I pinned all the folders that I use on a regular basis. It would be appreciated if someone could assist me in restoring this

i need to have a task run that will move the contents of a folder from one computer to another over my home LAN. Files get downloaded during the night on one computer and then need to be transfered to another. Usually I am doing this by hand, but then though maybe I could get the task scheduler to do it for me.I understand how to create a task, however I am having trouble with the action tab. I was thinking that I should start windows explorer (where is explorer located for win 7 x64 machines?) under the action tab, but once I do this I am not sure how to tell explorer to check the source folder, select all the files in it and then move it to the target folder.

I have installed this game, Singularity. The game worked fine for a week then suddenly It would crash as soon as it was opened from the desktop shortcut. The game is patched to it's latest version, I have direct x all other runtimes and PhysX installed from the CD. The shortcut it set to run as Admin in compatibility. No matter if i try with the desktop shortcut or from the exe in the folder or from the shortcut in the start menu the game will crash asap. The only way this game runs is by pulling up task manager and selecting New Task then browsing to the games exe. Malwarebytes reports no viruses or any malware. Tried reinstalling, and it didn't help.

Setting up a new Windows 7 install and goofed up the computer name and didnt immediately notice. I had already setup a task to run upon logon when I noticed that the PC's name was all jacked. So I changed the pc's name and rebooted. After reboot the task disappeared from the task scheduler list but still runs. Is there anyway to remove this ghost task when it is no longer visible in the task scheduler?I thought about changing the name back temporarily to see if the task would show up but I have no idea what that name was, so that is not an option.

So I don't know when this: "the selected task "{0}" no longer exists. to see the current task, click refresh" error started but I don't know how to repair this.
When I start task scheduler I first get this error and than no matter what folder I click the error pops up again. After this 2nd error it doesn't pop up anymore but all the folders show up empty.
Tried fixes:
Emptying all task folders in C:WindowsSystem32Tasks Download Fix My Task Scheduler 1.0 Free - Repair all Task Scheduler errors - Softpedia
/sfc scannow
Programs believed to cause this issue:
CCleaner
Defraggler
Sadly I have both
it causes some programs to not boot correctly. Like MSIafterburner gives an error, so I have to go to the config settings of MSIafterburner because it tries to boot using the taskscheduler really weird I know :/

I have a Win7 Ultrabook. I'm using Areca backup software to backup my personal data.I created a Scheduled Task to run my backup weekly.I set it so that it would wake from sleep to run the task. But I'm having trouble finding a setting to tell it to return to sleep if it woke itself up. Is it possible to do so?In the alternative, is there something I can insert in my batch file (the scheduled task runs a bat file) to tell my book to enter sleep mode?

Backup and Restore. Windows Vista's stellar backup and restore features have been streamlined and simplified in Windows 7. Like its predecessor, Windows 7 supports both data backup and image-based system backup, but now the UIs are more segregated.
So, as long as I back up my files using back up and restore then when RC1 comes along I just install then restore and all will be the same as beta was before nuking it? Sounds simple enough what could possibly go wrong that is my question. I am using a usb flash drive for backing up. Will there be a conflict between Fat and NTFS ?

So I have been having some trouble with my windows os recently and decided to reinstall from a backup that I had made before of (C I read up about attaching VHD files in computer management and it worked at first... Then I removed it as I did it on the wrong drive, this is where I believe the problems started. I deleted the partition rather than remove the VHD. Now if I try and mount the skinny cursor will appear for a second and nothing will happen.

I own an HP G70 laptop which came preinstalled with vista. I received a free copy of Windows 7 (as an .iso image) with a legitimate activation code through MSDNAA. I burned the image to a DVD and install Windows 7 from the burned disk doing the necessary task of formatting the hard drive, etc. etc. Now, before I started installing programs and putting my files back from back up disks, the idea of making a system image right when I first started up Windows went over my head (fail on my part), so if I were to make one now, it would be over a 30GB. Now, if my hard drive were to go bad, can I just restore Windows 7 with the installation disc I made instead of making a system image or recovery partition?

My problem is, I have recently installed Windows 7 X64. I had already backed up my files up about a month earlier using nero 7. Nero 7 installed but not properly and would not restore my files. I uninstalled Nero 7 and loaded trial version of Nero 12. It also would not restore my files. I would love to have all my files back but my main concern is my picture files.

I am not new to Windows 7 at all, and I know quite a bit but I have never came across the problem that I am faced with.My old computers motherboard failed and quit on me, causing the computer not to boot or even turn on. So I got a new one. My question: What and how is the easiest way for me to restore my Windows 7 onto my new computer (all new hardware), without loosing any system settings, programs, files ect. I dont have a backup point of the old Windows 7. All I have is the HD with Windows 7 on it. (However I have a backup of all of the important files.) Searching around a little on my own I could not find anything on how to restore Windows 7 without making a restore point in the past.

The Start menu contents is gone never to be seen again, I have checked every where. I believe this sorry excuse for malware has deleted it during the infection. I know other people have had the same issue, here is the latest topic on the subject start menu problem

I'm new to windows 7 - which I don't like. Also don't like new laptop but I'm stuck with it till I can save for something else. I wanted to change the default font on the desktop. And after looking around found that you can change the font type by going to personalize, colors, advance. You can't change the desktop font but you can change it for different areas such as the start menu and desktop icons. So I changed the font style to Arial Black for both. But I don't like it. It's too large. But now I cannot seem to restore it back to it's original settings. Can someone tell me how to restore the settings back to default?

I've an 13MB unallocated partition:
And I'm thinking of recovering it to my D (logical) drive. I've did some Google-ing and found a similar post on this forum here.
However, I can't seem to do it. Whenever I right-click on my D drive, the Extend Volume is always disabled. (Means I can't click on it ).

we have two different PC's[PC1 and PC2](hardware totally different) PC1 After preparing all my windows 7 (installing programs, configuring them, installing updates, activating programs and so on) I make my drive C: total image back up to external hard drive. PC2 I Boot up windows 7 recovery startup and choose restore from image and then I put in external hard drive with usb and make it restored on my other computer. Everything looks fine, it finishes with no errors and then system restarts. When windows are finishing to show "Windows starting" screen, computer restarts instantly. Then system autimatically suggests me to repair it, so ok then auto repairs are scaning and guess what it can't repair, because it finds some kind of problem with drivers, could be that they are incompatible with my new PC.how to make this work, how to fix issue that old PC's drivers are being loaded, maybe I am able to turn it off so default drivers are being loaded? The reason why I want to make this work cause I want to use it for multiple computers.
Simple summary:
PC1 Windows Image backed up to external HDD
PC2 Windows Image restored from external HDD
PC2 Windows can't start because of driver error

A few months ago I upgraded my Sony Vaio E-series Laptop memory from 4gb to 8gb of RAM. Within the hour of the upgrade I received a few blue screens closing windows in order to protect it (best I can recall of the message) from a certain threat. (I believe it is good to note that I play Global Agenda, which I probably shouldn't since its an i3 2.4 Ghz without a video card) I let the computer rest that day and afterwards it has been working fine (with the occasional blue screen crash whenever the computer's fan runs high) Recently the number of blue screen crashes has increased when ever I would run processor heavy programs such as Vegas Pro 11 (video editing) or even Global Agenda when the computer is cool. It eventually got to the point where windows explorer would freeze sometimes (and it would take a while to unfreeze) I eventually couldn't take it so I concluded that something was either wrong with the hard drive or a virus which AVG or Kaspersky couldn't detect.
First before booting up to windows I pressed F10 to bring up Vaio Care Recovery (or something along those lines.) I believe I skipped the restore point restore and went strait to erase or format the hard drive. The process started after a ten second countdown and stopped at 43% giving me this error message:"An Error occurred while executing an application. The operation was not completed. Shut down your computer then try the operation again after Reboot.Error:320"
I tried formatting the hard drive about 4-6 times each with the same message. I quit. Then I found two recovery discs that I had created earlier. One I wrote "Vaio Backup Disk" which was on a Duel Layer DVD and the other "Repair Disc Windows 7 Boot Disk" on a CD-R. I inserted the Repair Disc and windows loaded files containing system recovery options. A window opened up containing the following message about either Restoring your computer using a system image or use the recovery tools that can help fix problems starting windows. == One thing to note is that in the middle was a graph showing operating systems - partition size - and location. There were none of those shown; no operating system or what so ever == So apparently I couldn't choose system restore point since there was no system to restore. I eventually got to the command prompt and choose to finish the job that Vaio Care Restore couldn't which was to format the hard drive. I looked through the internet, found out how to do it and formatted everything that had to do with the storage (didn't touch the recovery partition). == I had about 4 volumes. C: D: E: F:. I believe I combined C: and D: since there was no need to have them partitioned. And finally formatted them. I tried formatting the Recovery partition, but it wouldn't let me. == After all of this I inserted a Windows 7 Home Edition installation disc but one of three things would pop up after the Vaio logo. One would say that bootmgr is missing. (this is the most recent message and the rest have popped up in the past, but do not continue to do so.) Other messages would say that there is no operating system found, or if it reads the disc at all that a certain file in the boot folder is not valid or found. I am pretty sure that the installation disc works because it launches right away on my other computers.

I want to restore my laptop to factory settings, but I don't have a Windows 7 installation CD. I was just wondering if, when I restore to factory settings (since I don't have another point to restore to), will my laptop be wiped completely? Since I don't have any installation CDs or anything, I don't want to restore it to factory settings if it'll wipe it completely.will it wipe my laptop blank or restore it to the point it was at when I started it following purchasing it (all the basic programs and such already installed)?

I have a question about restoring my hard drive. Recently, i bought a laptop from the pawn shop. I have been using the laptop for a couple of weeks and have some unimportant programs and files on it. Factory my hard drive is 222.22 Gb, but currently it's space is 179.8 GB. Since, i bought the laptop from the pawn shop, i did not get any windows disc. I'm afraid that if i restore to out-of-box-state that i wont be able to have windows 7 anymore and would be left with a laptop paper weight. i have made a repair disc but i did not make an restore disc. Should, i create this recovery disc before restoring? Also, is there anything else that, i should do before going threw with the Factory Restore?

Ive done a clean install, and i previously backed up my Vaio. When i try to restore programs however, it wont let me do it. It says "your files have been restored" but also says " some program or system files were skipped because they cannot be restored to original location. To restore these files, try restoring the files again and select a different location." Which location do i chose so that the programs appear in my "all programs" tab?
