Task Bar, Set It Under Programs
May 23, 2009I hate this taskbar in RC x64, I want to set it just like XP and Vista that it can be set to allow other programs to be on top of it. Can that be done ?

No History Or Task On Programs
Dec 30, 2008You know one can acces to the recent files/folders on explorer or other programs by right-clicking on them in the taskbar.
For some time, I've no more list, nowhere. I've no more history when I right-click on Explorer (or other programs such as Notepad, Paint) in the taskbar. And the tasks associated to programs such as Media Player don't work : I click on them and... nothing.
However it's worked properly before. Do you know what is the problem and how to repair ? (I've the impression a registry key is missing or similar problem ).
Task Bar Highlight For Active Programs?
Feb 19, 2012This is a minor problem, but annoying. Searched but couldn't find anything, probably because I dont' know the search terms for it. Anyway, in the taskbar you can pin programs, and if the program is active, it usually highlights the icon - if it is working as it is supposed to work. This is the case for every program on my taskbar, except for firefox. Instead of highlighting it, it opens a new icon on the task bar, and this is what is bugging me. Its a waste of space and its deceptive when I glance towards the firefox icon that I pinned, and find it dull, but to the right there is another firefox icon that is highlighted, showing it is activeI've tried unpinning and repinning and reinstalling firefox, but the problem remains.

May 22, 2012I cant use task manager cause it keeps refreshing and i cant even click on a program! .I have had expirences with this on tortoiseSVN, a svn program for garry's mod. I think its a conflict. Oh yes 1 more thing, when i click out of the window, it goes back to normal, when i click on the window again, it starts refreshing again non-stop.

Whenever installing a program lately (can't remember how long -- I've been ignoring it for a while), Windows doesn't respond when I click the .exe installer file. But as soon as I hit Ctrl - Alt - Del and open the Task Manager, Windows suddenly wakes up and installs the program without a hitch. I don't have to do anything in Task Manager; simply opening it is enough. Also, the computer hasn't crashed in this state. If I want to open another already-installed program and use it, I can without any problems. It's just that it completely ignores my command to run the .exe file until I threaten it with Task Manager.
The first couple of times, before I thought of opening Task Manager, I'd double click the .exe file several thousand times, as you do, wondering why it wasn't doing anything. Then, when I opened the Task Manager, it'd try to install the program several thousand times. Now I know to simply double click the .exe file, then hit Ctrl - Alt - Del, and voila, the program is installed.
What I want to know is, why doesn't Windows install the program in the first place?
FYI, the programs I was having trouble with were (from memory) Dropbox, Skype, memoQ (translation memory software) and a few others I can't remember. I doubt that the programs were the problem though. I'm pretty sure this is a Windows problem.

It will not let me open Task Manager and when I press alt, ctrl and delete, after a few minutes I get this error message "Failure to display security and shut down options".I have tried System Restore but had no luck with that.I am not able to run in Safe Mode either, it constantly freezes.My laptop did not come with a Windows 7 operating CD.

No Programs Will Start, Unless Started From Task Manager In Admin Mode
May 18, 2011I booted my computer today, but when I click any program in my taskbar, or int the start menu, they dont open. In the task manager they are there, but their working set is only 40-90K. Some programs can be started from file->new process, with run as administrator checked, but I cant see any pattern to which will start. If a process doesnt start from task manager, it freezes task manager, and I need to open another the end it. If I start a program pinned to my taskbar nothing will happen: The icon will get the running program rectangle around it, then it will fade away. If I right click a program in the start menu, the start menu and taskbar freeze, and I need to restart them from the task manager. I can run cmd from task manager. Ive rebooted multiple times, defragmented the disk(that fixed it last time this happened, but it may have been a cooincidence), run chkdsk, but nothing works. To make it wierder, if I press the hotkeys on my keyboard (browser, mail, etc), the program will start up fine, even if it cant be launched from task manager(firefox)
EDIT: While I was typing this I was running sfc /scannow , and that fixed it, but Id still like to know why. This is the second time this has happened, and both times its taken me most of the day to fix it, and both time different things fixed it
Creating A Task Scheduler Task To Move Files Over A Network?
Mar 31, 2011i need to have a task run that will move the contents of a folder from one computer to another over my home LAN. Files get downloaded during the night on one computer and then need to be transfered to another. Usually I am doing this by hand, but then though maybe I could get the task scheduler to do it for me.I understand how to create a task, however I am having trouble with the action tab. I was thinking that I should start windows explorer (where is explorer located for win 7 x64 machines?) under the action tab, but once I do this I am not sure how to tell explorer to check the source folder, select all the files in it and then move it to the target folder.

Sep 24, 2012I have installed this game, Singularity. The game worked fine for a week then suddenly It would crash as soon as it was opened from the desktop shortcut. The game is patched to it's latest version, I have direct x all other runtimes and PhysX installed from the CD. The shortcut it set to run as Admin in compatibility. No matter if i try with the desktop shortcut or from the exe in the folder or from the shortcut in the start menu the game will crash asap. The only way this game runs is by pulling up task manager and selecting New Task then browsing to the games exe. Malwarebytes reports no viruses or any malware. Tried reinstalling, and it didn't help.

I had already setup a task to run upon logon when I noticed that the PC's name was all jacked. So I changed the pc's name and rebooted. After reboot the task disappeared from the task scheduler list but still runs. Is there anyway to remove this ghost task when it is no longer visible in the task scheduler?I thought about changing the name back temporarily to see if the task would show up but I have no idea what that name was, so that is not an option.

Oct 3, 2012So I don't know when this: "the selected task "{0}" no longer exists. to see the current task, click refresh" error started but I don't know how to repair this.
When I start task scheduler I first get this error and than no matter what folder I click the error pops up again. After this 2nd error it doesn't pop up anymore but all the folders show up empty.

it causes some programs to not boot correctly. Like MSIafterburner gives an error, so I have to go to the config settings of MSIafterburner because it tries to boot using the taskscheduler really weird I know :/

I'm using Areca backup software to backup my personal data.I created a Scheduled Task to run my backup weekly.I set it so that it would wake from sleep to run the task. But I'm having trouble finding a setting to tell it to return to sleep if it woke itself up. Feb 3, 2013Every time I start up normally into Win7 everything is fine for a couple of minutes. I'll open a few programs, then after a few minutes of them running they'll hang and enter the 'not responding' mode. (firefox, steam, IE). If I don't already have task manager running the system will basically be unresponsive and the only thing I can do is reboot manually. If I have task manager running I can sometimes end a process or two but some will remain open & unresponsive. Any programs that are working (including task manager) disappear when I minimize them and no programs appear on the task bar, (though they can be retrieved with alt+tab).
McAfee also has 'real time scanning' permanently disabled.
This is all very strange as there was nothing wrong four days ago when I was away, and the symptoms occured within 2-3 minutes of booting up this evening. The system runs in safe mode.

Aug 24, 2011I have just bought a new acer aspier 5750z-4830 intel core b940 processor 4gb ddr3 memory 500 gb hdd 3 days ago and I am unable to install any new programs.I have tried to download meny sotwer not at the same time but the results are horrable.google chrome: 7 hours and never downloads. yahoo mesenger: connection is always lost and retrys never work. when i click cancle it says that it maybe my firewall but even when i allow the progrom through it won't work. so i turned if off for a little while still nothing. java: my laptop dose not come with java so i tried instlling it...121 hours to install this is rediclious.The download speed may not be so good right now beacuse we where hit by a storm 3 days ago however i have to ability to downlod but not the ability to install which i think is a bit weird

Jul 30, 2011I'm running Windows 7. My wireless connection goes through a netgear adapter. the adapter says I'm connected, and I AM connected, obviously. However, the connection icon in my taskbar has the red x of death on it. When I troubleshoot, it tells me there's nothing to troubleshoot. Duh.
