Jan 2, 2011New HP Laptop with Windows 7 - Windows Backup software doesn't recognise DVD as writeable, but Windows7 Explorer writes just fine to the same DVD-R.If I do Control Panel>System and security>Backup and Restore click on Backup Now ....this gives "Backup in progress..." bar - gets to about 25% and stops with the message "Insert Removeable media "Windows backup needs a CDDVD or USB drive to continue" (even though there is a DVD-R in E:, to which I have just successfully burned a very small test file using Explorer. E: shows on Backup pane as being selected as destination drive).If I click on "More information" another dialogue box pops up with instructions to "Label and insert a blank media"Please write the following label on a blank media and insert it into E:"FREDDY 02/01/2011"even though there is a labelled disc in there.(Of course that's a bum instruction from Windows anyway - it won't accept forward slashes - but that's OK - I label it without those. Still doesn't work.)If on the other hand I just select a file in Explorer and burn it ends up on the DVD no problem. With that same successfully burned DVD - Backup will still not recognise the DVD-R.I can use a DVD-R with a small test file burned OK to it, or a virgin disc from the box - makes no difference......

Mar 25, 2012I have a trail copy of windows 7 ultimate 32 bit with a keygen to make it into a licened version. thing is the disk does not have any updates on it. normally i can live without them, but it doesnt even have the most basic things like realtek hd audio driver or even my video card driver. windows update will automatically install everything i need as soon as i connect to the internet, but i do not always have internet handy. my question is would there be any way i can burn my updates to a disk instead of just installing them so i can have them for later? i dont need this to work on all computers cause im aware that different computers require different drivers. i only need my own computer updates.

May 11, 2011I'm using Samsung laptop with TSSTcorp CD/DVD TS-L633J recorder. Windows 7 x86_64. Can any tell me what are the possible problems (and solutions) of my CD/DVD burner? I bought this new laptop from Dubai, so even if I do have warranty, I can't use it here in my country Philippines, since warranty is exclusively for Dubai only. My CD/DVD drive can easily play DVDs (even the blank one) without any hassle. Unfornately, it can't read blank CDs unless there are already files burned in it. It can reformat CD-RW, but once the CD became blank, it can't read it anymore. Same thing happens to when I try to burn files on a DVD. It appears that it is burning, but when it finishes, it suddenly gets an unexpected error. I tried all types of disk like DVD+R, DVD-R, CD-R and CD-RW, but it allends the same. My CD/DVD burner cannot burn disks.
I already uninstalled the drive, but it's all the same. I run "Fix it", but it gets an unexpected error and won't scan the drive.

Jun 4, 2012I have burned CD's and DVDs before no problem. Now I get a window 'Error - there was a problem burning this disc' after maybe 2 minutes of building the image file. Using the built in burn appl in 7 Pro. DVD +R disc is fine, doesn't begin to even burn. Can't be hardware because it's worked fine before. Can't be intermittent as I haven't removed/touched any internals. Tried making the pagefile larger, to match ram of 2GB ( min 2048, max 4000). Same. Lots of room on the hard drive. Can't believe it would be because data is 3.64 GB because 7 should just use the hard drive if it runs out of ram.

I ran the Microsoft FixIt application but it did not resolve the problem. Fresh install of windows 7. Brand new cdr's. Also, when I insert a blank CD, it doesn't show up in My Computer, however if I insert a CD with data on it(or music), it shows up. Also should point out I have VirtualCloneDrive installed.

Nov 15, 2011not using Windows DVD Maker or nero as of right now im using nero but it always loads when i boot up and there are tons of stuff thats not needed only thing i use it for is to burn data to dvds mainly avi to watch on my tv using my dvd player Windows DVD Maker takes to much of the time on the dvd only 150 min. per a dvd when i use nero im able to burn 3-4 videos to a dvd is there a way to change the time into gbs in Windows DVD Maker are is there a software that would just do the job im looking to do im going to try imgburn and see how the playback is with that
