Can't See Folder's Name When Desktop Composition Is EnableE
May 16, 2012
after that problem all the pictures were gone i posted it here and couple of forum and nobody was able to know the cause, my computer was apparently clean... but my pictures are gone, i can recover it with any recovery software because thy are kind of marked as deleted or hidden" in such a way that can not be just simply be undone, i must recover one by one. in order to keep the hdd untouched, i had to buy another one (i dont want to open a post just for asking the temperature but is 41-48celcius normal? i know its normal but the hdd sometimes reach the 48 49 and stay there for long minutes then cold down again, the old hdd had a narrow range 40-43)now continuing with the header. since i have a new hdd i had to install Windows 7 and i decide to give it a try to the aero and desktop composition stuffs BUT immediately i remembered that I used to not use by just one thing. use the computer with several windows opened, when i have to switch to another window i put the cursor in the taskbar and i get the list of the opened windows, but when the aero o desktop compositor are enabled i only see the thumbnails, pretty nice BUT just that, cute but awful since does not have folder names (not untill 2 seconds witht the cursor over one thumbnail)
I have disabled desktop composition (and all other options form "performance options", except the "use visual styles in windows and buttons" for power consumption reasons) and I can't seem to be able to change the titlebar and taskbar color... I tried to change it in "window color and appearance", but any color I set the titlebar to be, it just stays as a pale blue. Is this normal? If I enable the "desktop composition" then I can change the color. Is there any way around this?
I disabled them both to run Battlefield 3 smoothly, however after I closed the game this happens: there is no longer an image or picture whenever I hover my mouse cursor over any tab in the taskbar. I've tried re-enabling both visual themes and desktop composition but the problem still persists.
I just happened to disable desktop composition on the Ghost Recon FS exe. file, since it was suppose to help with crashes and bugs.I wonder how significant is this "performance bump", is it useful for gaming? Can it truly increase FPS? or perhaps ensure better stability and less FPS dips?

Why all desktop icons appear in the Desktop folder but not on the desktop itself?I set my desktop to show the Recicle Bin icon only, but if I open the Desktop folder in Explorer they are all there: Computer, Control Panel, Libraries, Network, User's Files, and Recycle Bin.
Recently after updated my windows 7 my desktop folder appear in my pictures folder. When I expand it, I can see my desktop icon in it. Can it be fix or I have to run the hassle to re format?
i created a new folder on my desktop a couple days ago and now i cant delete it. i tried to shred it but no go. if i tell it to delete it tells me i need administrator permission. i AM the administrator. it tells me the file is being shared and i set it to be shared with no body. then i try to open the file of music inside the folder and it tells me i cant do that either. its says not accessible access denied.
it says: Destination Folder Access Denied you need permission to perform this action I am the administrator i so i have full permission on everything but i am stuck on this error?
In Xp Pro I was able to turn the navigation pane in the desktop folders without effecting the way windows explorer looks. In Windows 7 home 32bit, any changes made to the desktop folders also effects windows explorer. Is there some kind of a switch that will keep the desktop folders changes from effecting windows explorer?
So here's something weird. On a firends computer, he has a folder on the desktop that appears to be a duplicate of the users folder in the Users folder. It shows it's on the desktop when you open the Computer icon and in your browse window it's there. You can select it and it opens up and it's exactly the same as the user folder of the same name. If you right click it, you don't reaaqlly get anything. It doesn't have a shortcut display either. If you look at the actual desktop, it's not there. Only in the browse window. I finally got fed up and just deleted it and it started deleting the same files in the user folder so I stopped.I would like to get rid of it but I don't know how
I am running Active Directory on Server 2008 and redirecting My Documents, Favorites, and Desktop folders to the server. When the PCs go a screen saver and the user needs to login they loose connection to their Desktop icons. Their My Documents, Favorites and all mapped drives all work fine, they only loose Desktop icons. The only way to restore connection is to restart the PC. I have disabled the setting on the network card to allow Windows to put it to sleep, and it seemed to help for about a week. The strange part about this issue is, it doesn't affect all users only about 6.
I am setting up a desktop machine with C: as SSD and D: HDD. I would like the desktop to come from the contents of D: How can I redirect the desktop folder to come from D:?

For some reason, seemingly out of nowhere, everything I put on my desktop appears also as a duplicate in My Pictures folder. These duplicates are not copies; what you do to them affects their desktop counterparts. This means I cannot move, rename, or delete them without the desktop files being affected. It's as though my Desktop were somehow linked to that folder.
I have a folder on my desktop which I used as a temporary location for pictures and videos. Once it was empty I deleted it but every time I open my internet browser it pops up again. I am using Mozilla Firefox and have checked the download settings but this folder is not named in any path that I can see. I also checked WMP but it doesn't appear there either. The only other program I used this folder with was Movavi to convert the video files to MP4 but it's not showing up there either.
Last night I decided to install a game, so I made a folder on my desktop. I finished installing it last night. Today I decided I dont need it any more so, I went to delete it. The file says that I need administrative privillages. Then says u require permission from Owner-HpOwner to make changes to folder. I am the admin though, just got my computer last night, it was pre-owned. Just displayed in the window of future shop, but still pre owned. I changed the account name from owner to corey...
was dragging a folder off the USB drive to the desktop. I was dragging the folder up over the "Share Burn.... " menu bar and I must have let off the mouse button. Now the folder is completely gone and I cant find it anywhere? What the H$#@. Any ideas where the folder went?
Advanced user new to Windows 7 - I need to copy about 220 MB of files from one folder to two other folders, all on the desktop. In XP, opening the source folder and doing SELECT ALL would give the COPY, MOVE, DELETE options on the left hand of the folder. How best to do in Windows 7? Use the Copy to Clipboard, then Paste to the two other folders? If so, is the Clipboard big enough to handle the copying of up to 1.5 GB in files?
as stated above i have a folder which keeps reappearing every time i start my computer, it's an empty folder and no other program is using it. tried removing it in safe mode and from the registry, but no results.
I'd like to be able to change the location of the Desktop folder quickly. I like to set the Desktop to the folder of the project I'm currently working on.How can I make a shortcut to the Desktop folder's Properties (Specifically the Location tab)?
I am on vacation in Italy and started downloading my photo files on the desktop of my hotel computer installed with windows 7 home. The computer has a C drive that has operating system and desktop and then a D drive. I have tried deleting the files and empty the trash, but when rebooted the files just come back. Is there a way I can permanently delete these fles from the desktop.
I accidentally merged the desktop folder and documents folder. (Not sure how). Nothing is missing. I just have no "desktop" folder under my user folder and all of the individual files from the documents folder are on the desktop. I'd rather not system restore.
