View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a laptop running windows 7, connected to an external hard drive. I keep all of my .avi files on the external hard drive. I have set up sharing with the xbox - it picks up files in the following folders:
Downloads
Public Videos
Recorded TV
Videos in these folders can be played on the xbox. However, it doesn't pick up any of the shared folders in the external hard drive (G:Movies etc). The files on the external drive have been added to the WMP library and show up there no problem, and I have manually set the folders to be shared.
on my computer there are two accounts- an administrator and a standard account. everything works fine on the admin account, but the standard account is having some video problems. i can view Internet fine, but if i want to watch other streamed videos it won't let me. all i get is a black square where the player is or the black box with an 'x' in the corner. it also sometimes won't let me listen to streamed songs.
i got this windows 7 computer last year and i have had these problems from day one. every site i go to just talks about looking if there are parental controls on your account. i have checked and there are no controls placed on the standard account. there really isn't any difference between the two accounts except that one is called admin and the other is a normal account. i just tried to switch my standard account to an admin one and i still couldn't get the videos to work.

I recently had lots of bsod. At the beginning, it was only when I was playing Deus Ex so I supposed it was because of the graphic card that was too hot, but it's now happening for no reason. Actually, the last ones I got happened when I was just watching streaming videos. On Vimeo I think, but I don't believe it comes from the website. Is it possible that the graphic card reacts weirdly and makes my computer crash when I'm only using it to read videos on internet ? I'm not even sure this is the reason why it crashed. I watch lots of videos.It seems that this is all kind of BSODs. Last week, I had two irql_not_less_or_equal involving disk.sys andfilesys.dll. Today I had two other BSODs, notably one system service exception involving fltmgr.
In addition to that, my Windows doesn't save the minidumps anymore. The last one I got are from 9/14. I can send those to you if you want to, even though I'm not sure it's really useful since they are kind of outdated.I have Windows Ultimate x64 SP2, I mounted (is that the correct word ?) the computer myself approximatively one year and a half ago and didn't have any issue for a long time, I believe Windows 7 was the only OS on this computer and I don't recall re-installing it, but I'm not really sure, is there any way to verify this in the system ?

View 7 Replies View Relatedeverytime i watch any online video the stream locks up on an arbitrary time (usually within a few seconds, but sometimes well into the video). refreshing the screen sometimes works, but more often than not, the video locks up at the exact same place. i've tried updating my video drivers. i've ran every scan i can think of, updated my flash player, cleaned my registry and i am totally at a loss as to why i'm having this issue. this issue happens with the vast majority of web videos i watch from netflix, hulu, Internet, you name it. this issue happens in ie and firefox. i have the latest versions of each. it was happening with previous versions as well.

Laptops can push music to other PCs and to media player, but PC's won't, although they can receive from laptop. When I select 'Play To' in Media Player, the dialog box does not appear - well is does for a split second then disappears. PCs are 64bit with IE9, laptops 32bit with IE9. All settings checked and the same. Laptops are wireless, PCs on ethernet.

This starts happening at irregular intervals, sometimes just after 10 mnts, sometimes after about an hour or so. The system actually freezes every few seconds. My problem is that with any video, music,instructional or otherwise, it will play for only a few seconds, stop then start again after approx. a minute or so. This keeps repeating and makes watching any videos impossible. I first noticed it on You Tube, but now it is on any videos anywhere. View 2 Replies View Relatedrecently, i have had many bsod consecutively. recently, i have had about 9 bsod over about 5 days (although the report lists a break between my bsod between 2/21 and 3/27 because i was on break for most of this). in the past i have gotten bsod while playing games, but the recent ones have been while doing mundane tasks such as browsing the internet or watching Internet videos?i have used bluescreenview to try to discover the cause of my problem, but every bsod seems to have a different error and file associated with it. many of them are blamed on ntoskrnl.exe, but have different error messages. some are from different files.i am running windows 7 64 bit on a desktop i built about 15 months ago. since then, i have gotten many error messages, but more recently. i have 8 gb of ram, geforce gtx 470, amb phenom ii black multicore processor, and gigabyte 890gpa-ud3h motherboard. i assembled the desktop components and installed all software new onto the computer.
things i have tried recently: resetting the ram in different slots, running antivirus (i have avg free, malwarebytes, and spybot), cleaning the computer fans, uninstalling/driversweeping the video card drivers and reinstalling, disabling the motherboard sound card through bios so the external sound card i have installed does not interfere, running cmd /chkdsk with fix to try to correct any errors found. i have been dealing with bsod a lot frequently, although it has usually only been about 1 per week in the past. these are extremely frequent recently with multiple per day and it is interfering with my work. attached are the files requested.
Recently I noticed that my 500GB hard drive was beginning to get full. It has everything on it. I installed a second hard drive, 1TB, and my intention was to keep all of the programs and OS on the primary 500GB hard drive and transfer all of my documents (pics, vids, docs & music) to the 1TB drive.
When I go to C:UsersMyName and I go to "cut" a folder like MyMusic and then "paste" it in my new E: drive, it says that the folder is shared and if I move it others will not be able to use it.
Now, before I do this, with MyMusic, MyPictures, etc. I have a question: By moving these over to the E: drive (the new 1TB) drive, am I going to do something I regret, like losing access to these files, the OS not being able to find them, or something like that?
As the title states, I cannot get my music, pictures and videos links to show up on the right side of my start menu. I have used all of Brink's tutorials and or registry hacks and double checked everything...but to no resolve.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOn Windows 7 I installed the xbox 360 extender using Media Center, all my media files show up, but after exiting the extender, all my media files do not show anymore on their default windows folders for Pictures, Videos, and Music. Re-enter Media Center, and I am able to see all my media files, but unable to reach them through my PC, even after exiting again, and using my PC normally.
1- Advance searched my files to no avail, restored WMP library to no avail, restarted several times to no avail.
2- Used old Vista tricks in regedit to no avail, files still don't show up, they only do when I start the extender, and I see them through the extender only.
3- Restored to previous point in history on Windows to no avail.
4- Disabled WMP and WMC in Windows services and features, and re-enabled them, to no avail.
I have just built a new machine i5 4gb 2 x 3tb WD ASUS p8z68 motherboard.. System works beautifully.. very nice. However, I have just installed a clean activated real copy of windows 7 home premium and when I enter the menus of Media Center. Pictures, Videos the blue "thinking" ring scrolls for 10 seconds and then enters the next menu with the Folder being displayed. In the music section, I have 2 test folders in there and it waits for 8 seconds after you press play a song! Recorded tv and guide work great. Indexing was also completed.

I used to have a vista system and was never able to record sound (what I you hear i.e. streaming sound) so as soon as I got my new windows 7 laptop it was the first thing I checked. I have selected the SoundMix as my default device, I did that when I first got the laptop and as I said I was able to record the streaming sound, now I cannot however and looking at the recording devices, everything is set to default and as the guide shows. I used Roemer software free HiQ recorder because it shows the levels when sound can be detected by the software (the left and right levels move up and down showing that sound is being detected) and nothing is showing there at all. The levels don't move. The built in sound recorder doesn't record anything either and the volume level box is completely empty.
Is their some other setting or properties that has some how switched off or muted or something? I have been through the RealTek HD Audio panel and tested everything. I do have sound, I can listen to music so its not like I have no sound entirely. Also I have an inbuilt microphone in the lid of the laptop and it's on. If I tap the mic hole on the lid you can hear it is on and the sound recorders don't record even the sound of my tapping the mic! Again, I used to be able to record sound and now I cannot! In the living room we have a desktop with the same sound card, RealTek HD Audio on Windows 7 and that records sound as well.

I have a Samsung laptop with Windows 7, and every time I try and burn a music CD, I put it in my player in my car and it just makes this feedback noise - no music. It'll play on my laptop, though. It used to work fine with my Dell laptop (which had Windows XP), so I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or it's a system issue. Some songs are mp3 and some are m4a, but the car CD player won't play the disk at all.

Tried reinstalling drivers and even Win7 but nothing seems to help. Previously it used to give me a BSOD restart but since the last time I reinstalled Win7 after formatting the laptop it just restarts and asks me whether I want to start windows in safe mode or normally. This is really disastrous since I am used to continuous music.
