View 1 Replies View RelatedI have searched the forum for some answers to a few questions.Would it be worth it to upgrade my HP Pavillion DV6000 from Windows vista 32 bit to Windows 7 64bit? . The warrantie ran out and the hard drive crashed the pc is five years old but is is great shape. I have looked around and as of now windows vista is more expensive than Windows 7 . What I do not understand is why would HP put a 32 bit OS on a 64 bit system ?. Was it not running correct with 64 bit OS? This laptop has all kinds of cool devices on it webcam remote for media center light scribe including touch controls by power button I do not want to loose any of those functions. It has Nvidia geforce 7100 mobile graphcs to I just want to make pc better without loosing anything.anyone know where I can get step by step install for this laptop model I think what I want involves all the drivers including webcam, lightscribe, touch controls which are part of media controls ,remote control for media center?.

View 1 Replies View RelatedNew to the Tech forum boards but I am having a problem with my HP Pavillion dv6t. The hard drive went bad so I installed a new Seagate 1TB internal hard drive in the notebook. Starts up fine and then it says that "No bootable device found"---insert disk press any key. The disc is in the cd rom, I went into the BIOS enabled the CD/ROM boot option. I also went into the Boot option menu and tried selecting the internal cd/dvd rom drive option and I went into the actual boot order screen and adjusted the boot order so it read the cd-rom drive first then the hard drive. I also am using the HP Application and Driver recovery DVD. I am not sure if the disc is bad or cd drive is bad. The other thought is that because it is a brand new hard drive there is no information on it for the drivers so maybe the computer is not processing the information.
View 8 Replies View Relatednot sure if i should post here this is my first post long time reader. But anyway i started using the syskey option in windows as in the last month 3 laptop have been stolen and 7 have been messed with at my training school, however recently i have noticed what i think to be a problem. The syskey option is good for PC boot up but after that windows never asks for it agen. is there any way to make windows read the syskey whenever i need to log on.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI cant seem to find the boot file in windows 7 build 7600,
i'm dual booting, when I installed 7, 7 was C: and vista became drive d:
but i have storage hard drive which is always drive d, so I made vista drive f
so how can I fix the boot file in 7 to change the drive letter for vista install?
I used MSconfig to set my computer to always boot in safe mode, but booting in safe mode results in a BSOD. Now I have no way of accessing MSconfig to change it back.
I have a puppy linux live cd that I am using to view my windows files, but I don't know what to edit since windows doesn't use a boot.ini file.
I have an HP pavilion laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium X64 - new install. The laptop has begun hanging with a black screen upon my request for it to shutdown, restart, boot, or anytime i attempt to run something which causes the windows 7 are you sure you want to allow changes to the computer message box. The only change made before this happened was a windows update. The problem started a few starts after this install. I have searched but most issues address a black screen with a completely unresponsive computer. Mine comes out of it within a minute or so.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an old HP Pavillion 751 desktop with a P4 2Ghz. I put a new AGP vid card in and loaded Windows 7 32bit. The OS loaded fine, but the system will not boot at all. It's just a reboot loop. I cannot get Windows 7 to even display on the screen for half second to press F8. I tried doing a startup repair also, but it will not boot. I then tried to load Vista...same exact result. I had XP running fine on here. The HD and RAM are good, no issues there. What is the reason this system will not run with either Vista or 7, even with a brand new 'aero' compatible video card?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a HP pavilion P6000 with windows 7.About a couple of months after I purchased the computer,I would turn it on and it would just loop the HP splash screen over and over. I called HP and after hours trying this and that I was told to disconnect any plugs from the computer and push the start button for 2 seconds to discharge any static then it would start right up, that worked for a few weeks Started happening over and over, sent the computer back to HP (after hrs. of tech support) they replaced the motherboard. That worked for about a month then same thing happened again.
Sent it back again (after hrs. of tech support) HP replaced something to do with the possessor, work for a while. Now every time I boot up I have the same problem again looping the HP splash screen until I discharge the static, then it works until I shut it off.
The volume icon on the taskbar reads "No Audio Output Device is Installed". No sound whatsoever not even out of the headphone jack. HP does not make a driver update. They told me my computer is too slow to run Windows 7. Funny, because I'm running 7 as I type this! Works great, other than this issue.
If there isn't a driver, I can of course get a USB or Express card sound card, right?
I have an HP Pavillion DV6500 laptop that came pre installed with 32bit Vista.
Right now I am using Windows 7 Evaluation Copy Build 7100 32bit.
I'm wondering if there's any way to upgrade to 64bit windows 7 when the upgrade disc comes out in October or even now.
I don't mind having to reformat the hard drive.
Can I possibly reformat the hard drive now and install a fresh copy of windows 7 rc 64bit?
I tried talking to HP support about this, but they wouldn't give me a direct answer to any question.
They wouldn't even tell me if my laptop could support 64bit. (I did some research, and I think it can.)
So I just installed windows 7 recently on my sisters HP pavillion dv5000
There are a number of problems. First the keyboard is wack. After I type a few words it'll jump to a middle of a sentence before or 2 words before and start from there as I type. like I'll write hey how are you and it goes between h and ow and starts the cursor all the way over there or it'll be gone and start no where. and it'll go to the post button or something.
Another issue but not as big is the fact that there is a mute button if you are familiar with the HP pavillion DV5000 and when you press it the light goes on, if you turn on the mute. This always happens. It happened when I still use windows XP, now that I changed it to windows 7 however it no longer works. If I press mute or even if I don't the button is not turned on.
Any one can help? ESPECIALLY with the wacky keyboard situation. I can't type anything without it going back midway and start to type out of the wrong section of it.
Sound Issue: whenever I hibernate then restore windows the sound is gone! I cannot get it back unless I restart my PC.
Anyone here have any HP notebook or let alone any notebook at all that when you go to put it to sleep if hangs for a while then goes to sleep but comes back out? any known fixes?

I have a HP Pavilion dv6238ea and it had xp on it and the webcam driver i downloaded from hp.com worked fine. Then i formatted it and installed windows 7 in it.
Windows 7 detected the webcam and installed the driver. The webcam shows as ''HP Webcam 1000" and the manufacturer is "Micro Vision" and also the driver is provided by 'Micro Vision'. But it doesn't work. It only shows a black screen.
I downloaded the vista driver from hp.com for my laptop(HP Webcam Driver with Firmware Upgrade for Microsoft Windows Vista HP Pavilion dv6238ea Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)) but it is not able to install. It gives an error.
There is no available driver for windows 7 for this laptop (or any dv6000 series i think) on hp.com
Can anyone help in solving this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedNow, just 3 days ago It started the BSOD issue.I realize that my GPU was the cause of this issue. When playing games or open 3d applications the temp goes 30C to 72C (In 15 seconds) then 82C - 85C constant (in about 30 seconds). Now I've been using MSI afterburner to check my temps and at fulload my GPU will be at 62-72C max temperature but now it's 10C even higher then before. No, I haven't fiddled with the voltage I set the GPU voltage to 1.037v which is the safest (been running this almost 8 months!). The GPU is the GTX 560ti.Is there a way to set the GPU on default settings or reset GPU settings in cmd or other professional way. I have uninstalled the drivers, uninstalling GPU, disabled GPU, disabled PCI-E slot and so on by using device manager and the issue still persist. Yes, I also have clean the GPU perfectly and still the temperature goes up to 82 seconds at 30seconds-45seconds. Yes, I have checked everything is set correctly and so on, I am a PC Tech.
Is the GPU damaged? Yes I have looked at this thread: Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try Mainly, I know its the GPU straight away, I tried checking old drivers, new drivers, another GPU overclocked software such as GPU tweak and EVGA Precision. I am thinking it's the GPU is damaged or the PCI-E is damaged (I have another PCI-E slot on my system and the issue still there). It might be the PCI-E frequency? but it's set to 100 which it meant to be, I just hope is software related because I don't have the money to buy a new card. Did the dump files help?
i have an HP Pavillion dv9000 series laptop that came with a media center remote.
right now im using MediaMonkey for my music instead of WMP. i had the remote working in vista (original OS) but it wont recognize my remote and crashes MM when i just recently tried using it.
would installing the vista driver work or do i need something else?
