Is there such a thing? Chrome and FF import of bookmarks and backup is seamless. It took me half an hour to update IE bookmarks. And sorting them A-Z. is there an easier way? I'd like to start using IE some again--but this is WAY too labor intensive.
View 3 Repliesi'm running a windows 7 home premium 64 bit, and for some movies, the video will start in-sync for about 40 minutes, then slowly get farther and farther out of sync, making watching the video un-watchable after another 10 minutes. but it does not do this with all video types. it also does not do this with netflix, Internet, or anything else online.
i'm running a geforce gtx 660m, all drivers are up to date. the files that work are: mp4, files that don't work are: mkv, avi
those are the only files i have tried. it's done this since i got this computer a couple months ago
Just installed IE 9 and cannot get it to bookmark favorite web pages. Tried uninstalling 9 and going back to IE 8, but still wont add new favorites.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI sometimes have a problem where I try to bookmark a specific page in Firefox, but it won't add it to my bookmark list. It's extremely URL-specific, for example, one particular video on Vimeo won't add in Firefox, but other videos on the same site, with the same URL style, will. No problem adding the "problem" bookmarks as favorites in IE8.
Why is Firefox so finicky about refusing to add some sites to the bookmark list and is there a workaround?
This is on Win7x64. It's an older Firefox version (3.5.19), but not ancient.
I notice when I would like to save a web page in two different bookmarks it deletes one and therefore I can not save in two different folder locations. Is it possible to change this so I can save a web page in two different bookmark folders ?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running IE 8 , latest as of 10 Sept 11, Windows 7 Ultimate on an Intel Quad Core (9300), 8 GB RAM, 1.5 TB Drive. When I hit "Add to Favorite" on IE to book mark a link, it takes 20-40 seconds until I am prompted to save the link some 30-40 seconds later. Needless to say, this is very annoying. I tried the following troubleshooting to isolate the problem:
1- Installed IE 9 - Same Issue
2. I removed all my existing favorite links/folders from the "Favorites folder" under C/ Users) - thninking that the number of existing links/folders may be the cause - Same Issue
3. I uninstalled IE 9 and defaulted to IE 8 - Same Issue
4. I uninstalled IE 8 - i.e. no IE browser left in my OS since IE 7 can not run on Win 7- then reinstalled IE 9 - Same Issue
5. I tried firefox, it works like a charm.
I restored to earlier versions of windows backups but it did not help. I suspect that this issue has been there for a while - may be some file or registry entry is corrupted.
I have recently upgraded to windows 7 pro on a nice new 1TB hard drive. I have removed the previously installed win xp drive, and that is now in an external caddy. I have been in the process of moving the files from the xp drive to the Windows 7 drive. I forgot to backup my IE8 bookmarks before the switch over, and have tried to find the actual bookmark links via windows explorer but can't find them. I have tried looking in dos and setting users favourites...but the bookmarks are not in there.

I saved the image on a network shared folder.I then went to the Advanced Recovery Methods in Windows to restore my image...that I just created. It restarts the computer and goes into recovery mode, I point to where the image is located, I entered the network credentials and it give me an error. The files I'm talking about are files that get altered by appending stuff at the end of the file, e.g. log files or mailbox files, so it's generally possible to split a new version of the file at the exact point where the old version stopped, purely by file size.
Specifically, I want to back up Thunderbird and SeaMonkey mailboxes without having to create additional subfolders within those programs. I understand that if something had changed near the beginning of the file, then the whole file will have to be backed up, unless the backup program is capable of some very clever searching, but mostly the files will change only by having data appended to it.
I have set up WMC on Win 7 x64 and all is well apart from the EPG.
The correct time is shown, but the programmes are all a few hours out. If I select a channel, the correct programme shows, but when I go back to the EPG, they are all out of bonk again.
Which backup software to backup Pictures/Documents/Videos so that when you do a fresh install you don't loose anything.apart from your programs of course, just the documents backed up what do you use?

I just got it back from the warranty repair center, where they replaced the hard drive and graphics fan & heatsink, and reloaded the factory windows version. Before I sent it out for repair, I used Windows Backup to create a backup of all my files on a Toshiba casio 500GB external USB drive (I had over 300 GB of files, so it was easier to use Windows Backup than drag and drop all the files, at least at the time). Now that I have the laptop back, I'm having trouble restoring my files. When I go to Control Panel-> Backup & Restore, a message appears in the restore section, saying "Windows could not find a backup for this computer." I've tried reconnecting the drive as well as restarting my computer, but to no avail. I can see and explore the files in My Computer, so I know the hard drive is properly connected.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi'm using windows 7 32-bit, i7 processor, 4gb ram, onboard audio (with realtek) and a geforce gt220 video card.when i play a video the audio is always faster than the video. i use umplayer, so fortunately i can use the plus or minus keys to sync everything up. however on Internet or other online videos it's almost always out of sync, as well as when i watch something streamed from my pc to my xbox using windows media center. i'm thinking it's either a windows 7 problem or a hardware problem. i've googled it and found nothing similar with a solution.oh, and i use avira anti-virus, not norton or mcafee.

It took me so much because I watched out to get all of the artist, album, genre, year,etc... information correctly and believe me doing it with 70GB of music was pain in the a**. When I finally finished it, I wanted to transfer all the music (with all mp3 data) to My notebook WMP via LAN-cable and I couldn't do it. I only can transfer all the music to my notebook but when i add it to my WMP, files don't have the information mentioned above.

It's not out by much, but it is clearly noticeable. Oddly, if I play them in Media Player Classic they appear to be in sync (or as near as).I know for a fact that these videos used to play fine, so it's not a problem with the files themselves. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 2003 SBS server and several users all on Windows 7. One of the users just got a new Sony laptop with Windows 7 Pro, his existing laptop was also Windows 7 Pro.
I am trying to make same file share available offline again and the files sync with no errors in sync center. But when the user goes offline all the files have a red X and the files are partially transparent. All the KB's and threads I can find involved people getting access denied errors, but I'm getting no sync errors.
I tried formatting the offline files database earlier and I made a dozen files available offline. No errors but again red x's when he went offline.
I have Skydrive for Windows installed. Copied a folder to the Skydrive location, shows up as a Skydrive sub-folder. All the files in the folder were immediately uploaded to Skydrive, but new files are not being uploaded.
