Bad Sound Occurring When Sending Audio To Second Monitor?
Nov 24, 2011
I hooked up a second monitor to my computer yesterday and I'm really disapointed in the sound quality coming thru. The video is coming thru perfect. This is my set up...1) windows 7 home, MSI p67a-c43 motherboard with integrated audio- realtek ALC892, nvidea gtx 550 TI. I have my regular computer speakers attached to the 1/2" speaker connection port (green) on the computer.2) The TV (second monitor) is a vizio E320vl . I have tried changing all of the audio settings on the TV ( like sound filters and pcm/dolby digital settings that are on the tv to try and correct the problem to no avail. There are a number of hdmi ports on the TV, and one of the hdmi ports (the one it is plugged into) does have rca audio ports next to the hdmi connection, but the audio is being sent via the hdmi and these are not being used.
3) The video card has 2 dvi ports and 1 mini hdmi. My regular computer monitor is being hooked up to the dvi port. and BOTH the audio and video to the second monitor is sent to the 2 nd monitor using the mini hdmi. I am using an hdmi extension because of the distance from the computer (about 16 feet from the computer)Here is what is happening with the audio- while I am getting audio to the 2nd tv ( by changing the playback devices default switch to the second monitor that displays in the computer sound settings, the audio sounds very different from what it should. The best way to describe it is almost like very tinny sounding... almost like listening to it thru a can Music sounds really bad. There is no static or noticable distortion, just sounds bad in comparison to what comes out of my very cheap computer speakers

My Dell Dimension 9200 stopped sending anything to the monitor. I installed Windows 7 successfully after giving up on XP. The PC has bees stable with a newer Video Card upgrade and much more memory installed. The PC came without a Floppy Drive and when I start the PC, I have to press F1 to proceed to Windows. It was very annoying so I asked a friend and told me to disable it in BIOS and I did. Immediately after I did that, the PC stopped sending anything to the monitor. I tried two other monitor to no avail. I also tried an older PCI express Video Card and a newer one and got no reception still even though all the light indicators tells me that the PC is on. The drives are on plus the start up sound I hear when I turn it on.

So after about a year of pretty faithful service my computer has stopped sending anything to a monitor. I've tried 3 different monitors, 2 cords, even tried taking the video card out and plugging it directly into the mother board port. Still wont send anything to a monitor. The computer turns on, the lights on the keyboard flash, the Mp3 plugged in via USB charges, though the lights on my wireless receiver to not turn on either. The beep your computer does when it boots up correctly is noticebly absent as well.

First post here, I did a search and did not find any specific answer to my problem. Firstly I am running Win 7 Ultimate with an Nvidia 8600 GT video card running HDMI through the SPDIF output to the graphics card.
My problem is getting my pc to duplicate to my HDTV when I hit the windows+p shortcut and select the duplicate option everything goes OK and I get pics on both monitors. The problem is that my PC changes resolution and slightly distorts. By distorts I mean circles look like eggs but HDTV is fine.
My monitor is set to 1920x1280. I have the latest drivers installed and have re-installed them twice to be sure. I get them same error using the Nvidia Control panel, when running XP I had no problems at all doing this and running the correct resolution on both outputs.
The other problem is when using VLC I get audio out to the HDTV no problem but when I try and use Windows Media center or player I get no sound at all.

I have 2 displays, 1 is a TV 3 meters away hooked up to my graphics card via HDMI and the other other is obviously my PC monitor. I was hoping there would be a way to have sound exclusively on the TV while I have seperate audio on my monitor?Sorry it's a bit hard to explain. Basically I want to play a game on my PC with my headphones on while a film is playing on the TV, but if I try it atm the game shows on my monitor while the film is playing, but the sound of both is coming out of the TV.Graphics card is a HD6870, using Windows 7 x64.

I have this double sided 3.5mm jack. One end went in to the line in circlular slot on the monitor, the other went into the headphone slot on my desktop.
It was working yesterday, thenm it stopped so I redownloaded the driver. It worked again. However, today it isn't working and I've tried reinstalling the driver.

I wanted a break from the HDMI sound through the monitor to use headphones, and after several other methods, I tried disabling the HDMI sound. That worked great, but now that option for playback device is completely gone! How do I get it back so I can use the (admittedly weak, but still functional) monitor sound?

I've recently purchased a Samsung T23A750 monitor and to my disappointment when I try to watch a movie the built in speakers are not functioning. I have a Sony Vaio Z216GX connected via HDMI to the monitor (HDMI-DVI) port. I can definitely see the video, but no audio is playing from the speakers. The built in speakers are not at fault- I did a self-diagnosis of the monitor and the speakers seem to work fine. I also set the monitor as the default for the audio and even when Win 7 says its functioning properly, the speakers still don't work. Conversely, setting the default to my PC speakers work fine. I'm sure its not the HDMI cable- I used the same one to hook my pc to my tv with everything working fine.

My sound is working but "line in" and stuff wont show up in sound. So I have sound but no mic. The driver says its a Microsoft driver. The sigmatel audio drivers I tried using were all distorted when I installed them as in the sound would work and everything would show up in Sound but was messed up. Its obviously the wrong driver so I uninstalled it and put the "Microsoft" one back.

When a sound plays on the computer, it makes a funny clicking noise at the end of it almost like it has got stuck- The problem can be temporary solved by changing the audio settings but when you log off and back on the problem still persists.

My computer has started getting the BSOD, it seems random when it occurs, sometimes when I'm playing TSW, othertimes when I'm browsing the net and then a few times when I'm not really paying attention to the computer.I've (hopefully correct) uploadet a zip file containing the logs from SF Diagnostic Tool. Anyone who can cypher their meaning?

My audio jack or headphones on Dell Vostro 1015 do not produce sound. The computer recognizes and displays that a headphone has been inserted. The in-built speakers work well. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the high definition audio drivers. I have tried to troubleshoot it with the Windows 7 Professional 32 bit troubleshooter but it does not work. It was working well until a few days ago. I have done a sfc/scannow on it.

I just reinstalled windows and installed the latest realtek from here Realtek
I checked my playback devices, and it shows a green bar going up and down indicating that the sound should be working, but i can't here jack.
If i switch my sound in playback devices to my 42 inch flat screen, sound comes threw fine... i HIGHLY doubt my speakers are broken as they were working before i reinstalled windows.

So I updated my PC today and when it came back on there was no sound what so ever! My g35's still have sound but my Logitech Z5500 nothing, I have tried everything, updating, re installing the Realtek sound drivers, restoring the pc, even wired the speakers up to my partners media PC and sound comes through ruling out speakers.
I have tried upgrading the bios, been in bios looking around everything is enabled, in playback device option the green bar is filling up indicating everything is fine there. I have tried a SPDIF Optical cable, nothing, the standard black, green and orange cables, and nothing, I'm at witts end with the thing at the moment.
