The external sound card installed is Xonar DG and it comes with SPDIF output header to be interfaced with video card. But I do not see no such header on the video card. I've tried the Lenovo site but it says Vista should use the Microsoft drivers and those don't seem to be working. In Device Manager I see "Multimedia Audio Controller" with the ! icon by it. "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28). There is no driver selected for the device information set or element. To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver." I search for updates and find nothing... I tried the XP version but that didn't work.

There are 4 wires going into this plug.On the sound card I have a 4 pin connector which, by trying with the computer turned off, I know fits this plug. I configured for a Quadraphonic Speakers configuration. Tested sound, using Manage Audio Device, at all four speakers and I could hear the sound. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an Echo MiaMIDI sound card for recordings, when i first installed it i had to disable my motherboards onboard sound through my bios before windows would use it. This has been fine for 2+ years.
Windows 7 (64 bit home premium) has suddenly started installing the "HD Audio Device Drivers". I dont understand this since I have all windows updates turned off. But when it installs these audio drivers it disables my Echo MiaMIDI card.
So i go to device manager and it shows the Echo card but says there is not enough resources to use it due to other drivers being used, and it lists the HD Audio Device being in use. So i uninstall it but moments after this Windows starts installing it again. It still says disabled in my bios. its driving me crazy because i cant use my sound card!
My motherboard has on board audio which I disabled in my bios in order to use my recording sound card. This worked flawlessly for over 2 years. Then sometime last year Windows installed my "Missing HD Audio Driver" which disabled all sound until i enabled the on board sound in the bios again, this of course meant i couldnt use my recording card.ll Windows and driver updates have been turned off, it still installs.After many attempts at fixes i found online I gave up until more recently when i reformatted the computer and got it working. View 2 Replies View RelatedI am working with Windows 7 on a Dell Optiplex 755, but teh issue is with the System Volume setting. When I go to the audio mixer and do the test and configuration, the SoundMax audio level is loud and clear. The problem is with the Windows system settings somewhere, is there a limiter or cap setting in teh registry that I can set to maximum? I know that it is not the standard slide bars/levels but somewhere that Windows 7 Professional is cutting the volume on any Windows application. The drivers are fine, if I invoke the card directly it will blast the sound out. But in any application it is too soft.

I've solved my gaming graphics issues, namely by choosing the parts I wanted rather than buying yet another "Media-Center"-style all-in-one unit that did everything, but not very well, I'm now in need of a solution to my present awful headphone sound quality. I have a generic Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio card that is not very good, sound-wise, and, because it doesn't even include an optical out plug, goes unused. I purchased a refurbished Turtle Beach headset w/DSS decoder, and, while it works as advertised, the headphones are terrible for music. I've replaced the TB Headset with a much better-sounding Pyle set, and will buy some "real" headphones as soon as I've determined that the source itself is sending out a good-sounding signal.I've seen pro and con arguments about sound cards, like the Xonar series that have headphone amplification included. My issue with that is I am more concerned with the graphics for games, and I've built this system with SLI (another gtx580) in mind, and I do not see enough room under or in between the dual GPUs for proper installation of such huge sound cards, though I'm glad to have my ignorance in this area demonstrated. The anti-Sound card group seems to be gravitating towards a separate headphone amplifier, and I"ve seen them from the $20 dollar model included free with another headset I purchased, to the $1800 tube amps. I think I would like to either go this route, or purchase a home stereo receiver that can output the PC sound, thus having both satisfactory amplification for low-volume music listening( or ear-bleeding levels, if desired) and the ability to power speakers elsewhere. I guess what I'm asking is for some entry-level priced PC headphone amplifiers to start off with. I see countless rating comments for the FiiO series, and while the prices are certainly attractive, the fact that they're so low-priced also makes me leery of their actual amplification abilities while staying neutral in tone.

I loaded RC 7100 as soon as I got the machine and after going through this forum I am sorta left with the impression that SB cards don't work with Win 7. Is that really the case?

normally i only have 1 sound card/sound device in sound settings when i use hdmi with my tv, i have 2 sound devices in there, and i can choose 1 one of them as default, and all applications i run will play sound on that default device, so i choose hdmi (my tv) as default, open chrome for my mom watch movies, sound play on my tv (hdmi), that's what i want and i open firefox, go to Internet, sound also play on my tv (hdmi), that's not what i want, i want it (firefox) to play sound on my pc, so my mom can watch movies on tv, and i can watch Internet on pc
is there a way to do this? a way to set per-application sound card/sound device setting? i know some programs like windows media player or vlc can let you choose sound card, but firefox, chrome do not. i tried indievolume and it did not work, even uninstalled, reinstalled but did not work, or is there any browser that let me choose sound card setting (like wmp and vlc, but these 2 are not browser)
and does anyone know if mac or windows 8 has this feature as built-in? if windows 8 does then i might upgrade
I recently done a new build, not with the same specs I have on here; i5 2500k p8z77-m pro sapphire radeon 6870 I cannot get any sound through the front+back headphone jacks, realtek doesnt detect any audio devices, however i can mess around with the settings to get windows to say i have speakers+mic and 2nd audio devices plugged regardless if anything is plugged in or not.

I fly MS FSX and I want to be able to chat to ATC with my headphones and then hear the engine noises coming out of my speakers and sub-woofer.
I have a sound-card and my motherboard has on-board sound. I can't find the bios setting to turn it on and I can't see any hint of it anywhere on the computer. Can someone help me get the on board sound going? My computer is homebuilt, I recently installed Windows 7 pro 64bit.
Certain games are affected by this lag. The game will run smooth for a while (regardless of graphic settings) but eventually the audio will start crackling. Then graphical lag will begin. Changing the graphics from high to low does nothing and the lag persists for a while after the game is closed. Thing is, setting the affinity of the game to one core prevents the lag from turning up in the first place, however, when set to 1 core I need to have the graphics set to minimum or suffer graphical lag (which stops when settings are set down).When this first appeared I noticed that audiodg was using about 30% of my cpu. Took advice and changed my sound settings which got it down to 5% at worst. Now my CPU stays at about 70% during the lag and memory is in the 80% range. So I dont get what the problem is, if my cpu and memory havent hit max it shouldnt lag.

However to do this I have to go into windows 7 screen resolution screen and duplicate the displays though ones 1900x1200 and the Tv is 1920x1080 causing the PC screen to look funky but I can live with it to launch the games.I than have to go into the sound properties and set the default for the system to the HDMI cable and I can play my games on the TV like I want. (about 30 feet away)When done I have to come back and undue each setting to get control back to my PC.
View 9 Replies View Relatedthe problem is stuttering. i get stutters in games, game movie scenes, videos, Internet videos, even as i type this to you know at times what i am typing doesn't appear, it stutters, then the words appear. in games, the stutter is probably every 10 seconds or so and makes games unbearable to play. with movies, the video will freeze but the audio will carry on, then once the stutter ends the video catches up and synchronizes with the audio. in firefox, like i mentioned earlier sometimes what i type doesn't appear for a few seconds, and also when i click on links it occasionally stutters. my laptop is an alienware mx15 which is less than 18 months old and 2months ago i wiped and reinstalled windows. things i have tried so far?
- updated graphics card driver which is a nvidea geforce gtx 420
- i did a disc defrag
- error checking of the hard drive (this got rid of the stuttering for about 10 mins whilst i was playing a game. however, when i go back to the properties on my c drive and look at this option again, there is the shield (2 blue quarters and 2 yellow quarters) usually this means an update, but nothing happens.
This is probably just a stop gap but I was finally able to get my old Creative Audigy 2 card to work with 5.1 surround by using Audigy 4 drivers for Windows 7. I haven't been able to adjust bass and treble yet but I've been too busy just enjoying the music to get around to looking for ways to make that happen. Music sounds better than it ever did in XP or Vista!
It may not be a complete fix but at least it'll get you some sound until they come up with driver for those of us with older sound cards. Be patient as it takes a while for the complete install!
