Enabling Onboard Sound With A Sound Card
I fly MS FSX and I want to be able to chat to ATC with my headphones and then hear the engine noises coming out of my speakers and sub-woofer.
I have a sound-card and my motherboard has on-board sound. I can't find the bios setting to turn it on and I can't see any hint of it anywhere on the computer. Can someone help me get the on board sound going? My computer is homebuilt, I recently installed Windows 7 pro 64bit.

Regular Cataclysmic Sound Failures In Asus Onboard Sound
After installing windows 7x64, the sound initially worked. Then I noticed that during any audio playback the sound would pop and crack regularly. Now on occasion, the audio will work with popping and cracking for a while, and then have a cataclysmic failure errupting in massive static before it stops working all together.  Sound works with popping and cracking again after a cold boot, but the problem repeats every few days. I am using an Asus M2N-Plus SLI Vista Edition Motherboard which uses the C-Media 6501 on board sound-card The problem is not changed by using headphones, or using the case front head-phone jack Attempted to use Vista x64 drivers, which do not work, Neither Asus nor C-Media have released updated drivers for windows 7x64 for this card Does anyone know of a set of drivers that work? or a way to work around this?

FPS Drop Because Of Sound Card / Sound Card Drivers
I've recently upgraded my os to windows 7, and noticed a significant fps drop in all games I've installed. The problem seems to come from the sound card. I've disabled it in device manager and I gained a steady 15-20 more in most of the applications. Any idea what to do? Is it a driver issue or something? I got an Athlon 64x2 4600+, Asus M2N mainboard, 2 gigs of ram, Gainward 8800GS video card, Sound Blaster Live 24bit soundcard. Drivers are downloaded from creative.

Cannot Find Creative Sound Blaster Xtreme Audio Sound Card
My fairly new PC: Core2Quad Q6700 on ASUS P5K (Intel P35) with RealTek HD Audio chip, plus Creative Soundblaster Xtreme Audio internal sound card. I've installed Windows 7RC on a new partition on my HD alongside Vista Ultimate. I've experienced no installation problem, but Win7RC does not recognize my SB sound card at all! So, I can't even update the driver! It recognized the Realtek chip and my external USB mic, but not the sound card that had been installed for audio quality!! To come to think of it, I've had the problem with Vista, with my Dragon Naturally Speaking Pro 10.1 not recognizing the "existence of any sound system" in an administrator account I used to install the software. However, the software recognizes all my audio systems in my other user account (admin) and the software runs smoothly!! Any connection? What's the problem here? Anyone have any idea? Edit: I also found that the stereo mix feature of the Realtek HD audio isn't recognized either. (Recognized in Vista and my old XP)

Sound Blaster Audigy PCI Card Sound Problem
I installed windows 7 home premium today on my computer on a dedicated hard disk. All went fine and did windows updates to all my driver issues. At this point I had sound. I then installed ubuntu 9.10 on a separate physical disk without issue. Ubuntu installed a boot loader (Grub) which recognised windows 7 and I could boot into both OSes (dual boot), both working happily (including sound). I then installed some apps in ubuntu (incl. wine) and now when I boot into windows 7, I don't have any sound. The sound icon is happy, the device manager is happy. I haven't touched the windows disk or installation, yet the sound doesn't work. The sound hardware is a Sound Blaster Audigy PCI card. This doesn't make sense surely. Any ideas?

Issues With Installing Sound Card Sound Blaster Live 24 X
I installed recently windows 7 and i am very pleased, except for when it comes to my sound. It says that i need to install the sound unit, but i whatever i tried i cant get it to work. The icon "No sound unit is installed" is present at my windows bar in the right corner. And when i go to unit"treatment" sorry for my English, it says "sound controller for multimedia categorized beneath other units with an yellow exclamation mark. What can i do to fix this. My soundcard is a Soundblaster Live 24 x external device. And as i said i have Windows 7 64 bits version. My motherboard is a Nforce 4 ultra - d lanpary from Nvdia.

Sound Drivers For Conexant AC 97 Onboard
hardware id: PCIVEN_1002&DEV_4370&SUBSYS_30AE103C&REV_02 which means it's onboard a cheapo xpress 200m board on an hp laptop. Everything else works just fine, but the sound has been missing, I thought AC 97 audio was common. To digress, I have tried auto online updates, backwards compatibility installs with previous vista and xp versions of the driver, and manually installing the driver from an extracted conexant ac97 driver file. Nothing works. Maybe it's because I have a rarer ac97 device? I've tried realtek solutions as well but to no avail. Any solutions?

Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Sound Card Compatibility
I just bought a new pc from Dell. I opted out of buying the SB sound card they had as an option and now I am sorta regretting that. I loaded RC 7100 as soon as I got the machine and after going through this forum I am sorta left with the impression that SB cards don't work with Win 7. Is that really the case? I was looking at an "Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Sound Card" but if it will just cause me grief it's not worth it. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what I can get and not pull my hair out trying to get it to work? The main game I play sounds sorta mediocre with the on-board sound.

Sound Drivers, Creative And Onboard AC97 Won't Work
I have onboard SiS AC97 audio and a Creative Sound Blaster Live! 24bit. Using Windows 7 RC, I can't get either of them to work. They both give a "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)". I have tried every driver that I could find for both of them. Nothing seems to work. Is there are any known bugs that cause this?

No Sound With Audigy 2 Sound Card
This is probably just a stop gap but I was finally able to get my old Creative Audigy 2 card to work with 5.1 surround by using Audigy 4 drivers for Windows 7. I haven't been able to adjust bass and treble yet but I've been too busy just enjoying the music to get around to looking for ways to make that happen. Music sounds better than it ever did in XP or Vista! It may not be a complete fix but at least it'll get you some sound until they come up with driver for those of us with older sound cards. Be patient as it takes a while for the complete install!

No Sound, No Sound Device Detected, Drives Installed
I'm in a pickle with my machine and Windows 7 after this latest update. On startup I get an error from MMDevApi.dll saying that it might not run on Windows or... something else. This also occurs anytime a program tries to use the sound card ie. WoW, Yahoo IM, Live IM, SL, etc. I've updated my sound card drivers to the newest ones. I still get an error that says the device is detected when going to "Sound Devices" in the control panel. Trying to adjust the sounds themselves leads me to the Windows Audio thing... which won't start even from the component list.

Cannot Record Line In Sound, Using USB Sound Device
I've had this problem since windows vista, in windows xp i could record my line in perfectly, without any problems, but now, even if i enabled Stereo mix(tried mono also) it won't make any sound when i try playing some music. Anyony that can help me with this? Also, as stated in the title, i'm using an USB sound card device.

Sound Card Recommendation
I am using Windows 7 Home Premium 64 on a Dell XPS 600. The sound card is a Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme Music. The sound is awful (when I even HAVE sound). Crackling and popping and then stopping altogether. Looking on the Creative site, it seems the most recent drivers are 2006 (I know, I don't have the most recent computer!). If I opt for a new sound card, what should I get?

Sound Card - Where Is SPDIF Out ?
i have a ASUS Mainboard with a VIA HD Sound Chip on board. I installed the drivers from VIA. But it seems like the system didn't find my SPDIF out. The HDVdeck Program from VIA didnt work and i cant see the spdif at the playback devices. Only the analog output works.

Sound Card Woes
I'm having problems with the on-board sound-card on my Asus P5K Pro motherboard. I have had this mobo since christmas and has always worked with XP with out ever having any problems. Last week i installed the RC and initially all seemed to go well. I downloaded the Realtek Vista drivers from the Asus website and installed with the "recommended configuration." This seemed to work properly and i happily continued on my way. A few days ago when i turned on my PC and whacked in a CD i realized there was no sound coming out of the speakers. Upon further inspection i realized there were no sounds coming out from the pc at all. I also realized that the Realtek GUI was no longer detecting the insertion of jacks into the socket. My board has 5.1 audio outputs so i plugged the speakers into the other outputs to no avail. I did note however that the Realtek software did detect the insertion of a jack into these outputs but refused to spit anything out of them. I decided to uninstall the driver and try to reinstall. Upon attempting this it repeatedly failed due to "not having the correct OS." When at last it did start to install it gave me a "realtek driver failed to install" screen. This scared me...... After a day of fiddling around i magically made it work and i was back where i started (not recognizing front jack, ignoring the output of others.) So i decided to put in a old PCI card i found in the rubbish bin It's a Creative labs CT4810 i think. I found some XP drivers and attempted an install. The drivers installed but when i attempted to use that driver for the so far unknown "multimedia audio device" i couldn't find it in the list of drivers. After reading further i started to think that the card wasn't PnP. *Shreek* Can PCI cards be non-PnP? Anyway, i'm unsure now as to the origins of the error and am left audio-less. I'm starting to think it could be a hardware error due to the failure to detect the insertion of jacks and the recent movement (i moved my desk to vacuum behind it) of the PC. The cable to the speakers was also very taught. It is still under warranty (the mobo, not the system, i built the system) so i might take it back. Any helpz plox?

SB Audigy SE 5.1 Sound Card
ok im running windows 7 32 bit, i have a creative sound blaster audigy SE sound card and 5.1 surround sound speakers. the problems are: -when i try to install the drivers from the cd i get a bluescreen -when i install modded Windows 7 compatible drivers my pc just cuts out -when i install the drivers from automatic update i get sound (yay) buy i can't use the config console for my speakers so therefore i can't use my surround sound.

Gaming Sound Card
I am looking for a good gaming sound card to replace XtremeGamer by Creative Labs. Since upgrading to this newer build of Windows 7 I can't get the driver to work and it never really worked right anyway. The beta driver or the Vista ones in compatibility mode. Daniel K people also said to try, they didn't work either. Always will freeze the computer and then I will have to go into Safe Mode and remove the driver to be able to boot again. So any ideas for a good card? What about the Razer Barracuda AC-1 Gaming Audio Card? Will it work with Windows 7?

Sound Card Is In Use Problem
I bought a PC with Windows 7 Home Premium , and realTek sound card. Everything has been working well, including sound, until I tried using my USB headset. On plugging in the headset, I right clicked on the taskbar settings , and disabled the RealTek soundcard, and made the Headset the default communications and audio device. However, when I tried re-enabling the soundcard, and made it default, graphically, it shows that the sound card is in use , but no sound comes out of it. My speakers work well on another PC, and when I insert my USB headset and switch the settings, the headset works fine. Anyone with ideas in what I should do?

How Can I Find What My Sound Card Is ?
I've tried Device Manager in Control Panel, but I'm only given a very generic name. (I just tried to open Device Manager again, but I can't for some reason... I'll edit this shortly.) I tried running dxdiag, and it claims it couldn't find a sound card. I just installed Windows 7 Home Premium. I was previously using Windows Vista Ultimate. I'm at home from school, and I didn't feel like bringing my speakers. So, sound would come from my sound card. I reformatted and installed Windows 7 with a headset plugged in, and I'm only able to hear sound through that. I also hit system lag spikes when playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Sound, during these spikes, becomes a cackling noise. I think I need to update my drivers. If I take out the headset, sound becomes muted because it doesn't recognize my sound card or whatever. I'm fairly certain I need the stickied Realtek HD drivers (I think I've seen the name before), but I want to confirm. Ideas?

CMI8788 Sound Card
I've got an HT Omega Claro Plus+ sound card, CMI8788 based chip, and the drivers that were for vista do not load in Windows 7, they give an error about not being certified drivers. Anyway to disable certification? Or am I just SOL until the manufacturer releases some new drivers.Â

HP Laptop No Sound From Speaker But There Is Sound Through Headphone
I have hp dv1738od and have upgraded to Windows 7, previously Windows XP. Everything seem to be working ok except, for the sound. Window 7 automatically installed the driver, and said the sound card was working properly. But there was no sound through speaker. I removed the driver and reinstall the driver that I got from HP website that work for Window Vista. Installation went through with no problem and Device manager indicated no isssue on sound driver. However there was still no sound coming out from the speaker, only through headphone jack. I read tons of forums, and some has suggested that it may be the jack connection. I tried plugging in and out numerous time, and that did not solve the issue. Sound could be heard for like a sec, when headphone was being plugged out but it goes away quickly. To determine if it was hardware or software issue, i reinstalled Window XP and there was sound through speaker. So for sure it is not the speaker issue.

Problem With Sound Card Driver
Im currently running the Windows 7 RTM, and im having a little problem with my sound driver! it keeps installing a standard driver that comes with Windows 7, and i keep getting this message "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" I have managed to download the latest driver for it, but when i try to manually install it/update driver, it says "the best driver is currently installed" And the second i uninstall it, it installs it again straight away using the standard drivers that come with Windows 7... is there any way of stopping this? This is the computer i have Shuttle United Kingdom - Home The sound card is built in to the motherboard and its a "Realtek ALC880 7.1 channel High Definition audio" Any chance someone can help me stop it installing the standard HD Audio driver when i uninstall it, so i can just install the one i have downloaded?
