i'm using the onboard sound card for my Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Rev 2.0 mobo. The sound chipset is Realtek ALC889. I've updated the latest drivers, but there is crackling/static noise when I play music.Currently I mainly use a 2.1 speaker system. But Ive tried testing it with headphones the static/crackling noises persists. It is not constant, but it shows up periodically. Furthermore, when there is no music/sound playing the noise is not there. This leads me to believe its a hardware/driver issue and not so much a speaker/interference issue.

I just reinstalled windows and installed the latest realtek from here Realtek
I checked my playback devices, and it shows a green bar going up and down indicating that the sound should be working, but i can't here jack.
If i switch my sound in playback devices to my 42 inch flat screen, sound comes threw fine... i HIGHLY doubt my speakers are broken as they were working before i reinstalled windows.

I have just installed a new PC, which has Realtek HD Audio on board. The problem I encounter, is that when using the Realtek HD Audio Driver, I get a "blip" sound before and after each sound, almost as if the speaker port is being enabled and disabled.I should point out, that I still get this blip through my front speakers, even when sound is coming out of rear speakers only (such as when performing a windows sound test).I should also point out, that when using the Windows 7 sound drivers, I do not have this problem - all is fine! Except for the big fact, that my rear speakers are not enabled as Windows 7 drivers insist on driving them all through the same jack port, which is why I need to run the Realtek HD Audio Manager & Driver.
PC is installed with Windows 7 Ultimate
Realtek Audio Driver Version: 6.0.1.5898
Direct X Version: 11.0
Audio Codec: ALC662
Speaker Setup: Quadrophonic
[code]....

A friend of mine re-installed his Windows 7 64 bit several weeks ago. Now, everytime he plays some music on the WMP or watch videoclip on the popular video websites, or either watching a movie on KMPlayer there are some noises every with interval 3~7s and duration no more than 1s, from what he told me they sound like scratching or something. He doesn't experience any problems while playing games.
He is using Windows 7 SP1/64bit,
GeForge 9800GT/GTX
4 gigabytes of ram
and core2quad intel processor.
Couple of days ago he installed VirtualBox to test 1 program compability on XP, when the windows got installed he went to watch a video while drivers are installing and noticed that the problem was gone. Though, if the virtual machine is offline the problem persists, while if its in it's gone. I can't really explain that thing to myself, my brain can't perform such a process. It's like something happening on Jupiter to influence the size of my d...Things done so far: Re-installed the newest drivers several times, tried with couple packets of older drivers, re-installing of old/new video drivers, older versions than DX11, removing all the drivers completely, no change. he recorded 1 minute of the video he was watching with Bandicam, he said he heard the sounds 15~20 times in that 1min of video, I didn't heard anything other than the video sound.
*Re-installing/changing the OS is not an option, as he will have a lot of important data loss.
*He won't pay 35EU for new sound card just because of some assumptions, while it was perfectly fine 30 minutes before he re-installed, nor I will advise him to do so.

I have the following setup:
Windows 7 Pro x64
Intel DP55WG mobo w/ onboard RealTek HD (889)
Driver Version: 6.0.1.6449 from RealTek
MSI Nvidia GTX 460
Just using normal analog speakers or headphones audio works as expected. I can play WoW, Rift, a number of other games, iTunes, play a DVD, whatever - it all works fine and as expected. I can do this for hours and hours with no issues.
When I try to run any TWO or more programs that use audio at the same time (like vent and a game, or a game and iTunes for example); after a random amount of time the audio to the speakers will just cut out - like it's muted. This happens with headphones or normal stereo speakers plugged into the rear analog jack. I have not tested with any other speaker setups as I don't have any right now.
Here is some of the troubleshooting I've done:
- There are no error messages in any system logs.
- The mixer acts like nothing is wrong you can see audio levels playing, adjust sound level, etc but nothing comes out of the speakers.
- If I put the machine into sleep mode or reboot it the sound starts working again.
- While the audio is "cut out" the mic still works (people in skype or vent can still hear me but I can not hear them - I can also "monitor" the mic and it outputs the mic sound to my speakers).
- I've uninstalled, reinstalled drivers. I've tried older drivers and the newest drivers and all the drivers between.
- Tested with the HDMI audio output devices both Disabled and Enabled, no change
- Tested with the Digital output enabled/disabled, no change.
- In the driver tried testing with the "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" checked and unchecked, no change.
- Restarting the Windows Audio Services has no effect or changes the state. Only sleep mode or hard reboot makes it start working again.
- Tried unplugging and replugging in the speakers and/or headphones, swapping them out, etc. no change to the state of the output of audio.

I just got a new PC and I can't get the sound to work. My PC has the following specs:Microsoft Windows 7 (6.1) Enterprise Edition 64-bit Service Pack 1 (Build 7601)
DirectX Version 11.0
CPU Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770K CPU @ 3.50GHz
Mainboard Model Z68A-G43 (G3) (MS-7750) (0x000004E0 - 0x8FF0BC90)
BIOS
vendor American Megatrends Inc.
version V5.0
date 04/19/2012
My system is not muted I have tried to update the driver from both Realteks and MSIs web pages - no luck. I have tried to connect my headphones in both rear and front - no luck. When I play audio - I do see green bars in under the playback tab under sound devices. I do have the Realtek HD Audio Manager I have noticed that when I mark "Disable front panel jack detection" in the Realtek HD audio manager, the headphones appears to be connected in the playback tab, when I uncheck it, the headphones seems to be disconnected in the playback tab.

I Built my computer recently on christmas day. I got all the drivers and my motherboard came with sound drivers however I got the Realtek Drivers for my board since they were not on the disc (Or for some reason did not get installed) But anyways the drivers are all working fine i've had no problems with my computer at all yet however whenever i try to record or transmit on ventrilo (VOIP) with Stereo Mix there is no sound. When i record on audacity with stereo mix nothing is recorded. There is just no sound.
The option is for stereo mix DOES exist and i know for sure that my motherboard has stereo mix. My friend also built a computer around the same time (Christmas break) with most of the same parts. He has my exact motherboard and his is working perfectly fine. The mobo im using is an EVGA X58. To anyone who can help I thank you and i will respond if you need to know any specs.

I received my copy of Windows 7 Home Premium. I skipped the Vista bandwagon, so I was moving directly from Windows XP Service Pack 3 (32-bit) to Windows 7 Home Premium. I opted to install the 64-bit version of Windows 7, as I had no issues when running the 64-bit beta.
As it turns out, I seem to have encountered an issue with my network adapter on Windows 7. Using any speed test site, such as speedtest.net, I get an extremely high ping (500ms +). I have tested another machine behind my router running Windows XP and there is no problem. Also, on the speed.io website, which tests connections per minute, I can only get around 200 on Windows 7, whereas I could get 2000+ on Windows XP with the same hardware.
Strangely, in games like Counter-Strike: Source, my ping is normal and in the 25-60 range on most nearby servers. Also, when running the ping command from the command prompt, most servers return a result lower than 100ms ... which is also normal. So, I don't understand why on speedtest.net, pingtest.net, and dslreport's flash speed test.. I get a ridiculous ping time of 500+ms. Web browsing does seem to be slow as well, as images take longer to load then they should.
I'm not sure whether this is a driver issue, or what. I have tried disabling both my firewall and AV software, so they are not at fault. I've tried 3 different version of the drivers for my NIC. One from the Gigabyte website, and two from Realtek's website (they released an updated version yesterday). My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R (rev 1.1). I have all of my system specs listed on my profile if anyone needs to know more.

so i have a blue yeti, and i'm an online animator/voice actor. whenever i record audio on my blue yeti (or any other mic) i record about 4-6 inches from the mic, and turn the gain down enough that the audio doesn't peak as i yell or whatever. this is what you're supposed to do if you don't want your audio levels peaking and making your recording sound horrible and corrupted. however, afterwards, it means i have really quite recordings. not a problem right? now that it's recorded right, i can boost the volume of the entire clip afterwards right? wrong. i'm not an audio expert so i must be missing something. but why in gods name would the audio distort and peak after it's recorded successfully? it's all there, it's all clean audio. if i turn the volume on my speakers all the way up it sounds crystal clear! all i want to do is do that inside the computer so that when i upload it to Internet people don't have to turn their speakers so far up. but if i increase the clips volume in the computer, it distorts! it sounds awful! why?! i tried in sony acid and audacity and they both do the same thing! i can take sound effects, and recordings made by other producers and crank them up nice and loud, but mine just fall apart!

With Windows XP SP3 I was able to transmit audio which was digital and sometimes multi-channel to my Denon reciever through the HDMI output on my motherboard; I was also able to simultaneoulsy display my computer through that same HDMI connection through my Denon reciever and on to my my Toshibe LCD TV.But when I installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit the HDMI audio was very limited (only 16 bit 2-channel @ 48,000 Hz) and can only select it when the reciever is on (which makes sense, but it's anoying to have to go into sound properties and switch to HDMI if I started the computer before the reciever, I hate technology trying to pretend it knows what I want it to do, it should just be able to do what it's told.) Then, when I turn on the TV this message comes up (which I would see when I was using XP but it didn't change anything)An HDMI-to-DVI display connection has been detected. In order to hear audio on your HDMI based TV or display, you will need to have a seperate audio conecction from you computer sound outputs to your TV or audio equipment. However I'm not using the DVI at all I just want to use the HDMI into HDMI because that's the way it's supposed to work because HDMI is supposed to handle both and I shouldn't need to use another cord when I'm already using one that does both. And so then my sound no longer works but my computer shows on my TV.Whoopdee doo! why can't I have both. HDMI is supposed to support both and when computer/motherboard/OS manufacturers put these technologies on computers you'd think they should commit to applying them flawlessly the way they were intended to be used.I understand this may be a driver issue and I've tried many combinations of the newest & the just HDMI Realtek Driver as well as the Gigabyte mother board drivers and the appropriate ATI/Catalyst driver/downloads.

Starting about a month ago, after six to seven months of my laptop working fine, I've been getting video and audio stuttering whenever gaming or watching most HD videos and after messing around with my drivers I realized that whenever my Realtek HD Audio drivers are disabled my video runs flawlessly, but when enabled both video and audio stutter. I'm using a Sony VAIO laptop so I'm assuming that the sound card isn't easily replaceable. I've tried using the newest drivers straight from Realtek's website and also the outdated driver provided by Sony's website, both of which result in the same stuttering. Sony has also replaced the motherboard once and it did not resolve the issue.I'm currently running Windows 7 with 6gb of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce 330M graphics card.

I will try and make my first post as informative and direct as possible. I am having an issue with installing a NVIDIA Geforce 8400 GS video card into an older HP Pavillion 6040n
Windows 7 Professional x64
Asus P5LP-LE motherboard w/onboard sound
Intel Core 2 Duo 6320 Processor, 1.86 Ghz
Seagate 7200 320GB Hard Drive
4 GB RAM (PNY but I don't remeber the speed of it)
Geforce 8400GS 512 MB graphics card with DVI and VGA outputs (no S-Video, NO HDMI outputs)
300W generic PSU
when I physically installed the graphics card into the PCIE slot and rebooted the computer the sound stopped working. the computer does not see any audio output devices that are installed. when I mouse over the small speaker in the bottom right corner there is a red x over the speaker, like it's muted, and it says "no audio output device is installed" When I remove the card and go back to using the integrated graphics card in the motherboard, the sound works fine. I am using the 3.5mm jack off the back of the motherboard to get to my desktop speakers.I have tried installing the latest drivers from NVIDIA, doing a clean install of the drivers (IE removing the old versions first)I did not let in install the NVIDIA HD audio driver that comes in the 260.99 driver I tried reinstalling both the Realtek R255 sound card driver and the older R235 Driver.Nothing I have tried has worked. Something interesting I have noticed is windows installs 4 generic High Definition Audio Devices. When I see them in Device Manager I delete the drivers and restart the computer, but every time I restart, there is still no sound, and windows once again installs 4 HD audio devices. Why would a graphics card render an onboard sound card inoperable? Would a clean install of windows 7 fix my problem? Did I go to cheap in selecting the 8400 GS? Could this be in IRQ conflict?
