i got a 3 years old machine and all was working great,but now ( this month) i have multiple BSOD . i have recently replace my power supply for a 650 w it worked until i had those BSOD but now only on cold boot*recently reinstall win 7 64 bit home premium to see if it will worked, but no luck. If i IMMEDIATELY restart the computer, it will literally run for weeks without a hiccup.I have replaced nearly every part of my rig minus the CPU and Memory. I've put in a new MOBO, SSD/SATA drives, Video card, Power supply. Flashed the BIOS with the latest version. The only thing left is the CPU.I've recently ran the windows memory diagnostics everything passed fine, but I've bought new memory just in case - will try that tonight.

Also seems like all of my last systems have been having the same problem, so possibly it's some of the hardware I have been re-using, but it is beyond me to figure out and I just need it to stop..Windows 7 x64 full retail, fresh installed in the last 2-3 months, problem didn't exist immediately..Hardware varies from a few months old (motherboard, cpu) to a few years old (video card, hard drives, some older and some newer ram). I have tried with multiple different hard drives with fresh installs of Windows as well as different RAM combinations and configurations.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an ASUS n80vn laptop that is about 3 years old. It came with OEM Windows Vista, but I installed my own copy of Windows 7 Professional 64bit more than two years ago, and there was no problem upon installation.
Lately (for about a month), I have been receiving BSOD either during boot or the log-in screen. The BSOD usually happens only once per day, and I would be forced to restart my computer. No BSOD upon restart. I suspect the problem occurs when the laptop is cold. I have attached the BSOD Dump files collected over the past month.
The only driver change I've had was nVidia graphic driver updates. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the two most recent drivers and the BSOD problem still occurs.
On a side note, I have been getting random freeze-ups too, and this has been happening before the BSOD problem. These freezes occur when I'm doing regular tasks such as web browsing or typing in Word/Excel etc. When my system freezes, there is no BSOD, but nothing can be moved (keyboard + mouse won't do anything). Closing lid does nothing too. Strangely, I have not been getting this kind of freezes when I play games.

I have BSOD on a cold startup everyday. On most time after the first BSOD of the day the PC will run fine for that whole day. There will be two consecutive BSOD on certain occasions. The problem stops for a week after I updated the NEC USB 3.0 Host controller so it seems there is other problem causing the BSOD but now I am not so sure.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI ordered the parts online and put them together myself. At first everything worked fine, I got Windows 7 up and running and drivers were installed without error. Then I decided to try and overclock my i5 2500k, since I have little experience with overclocking in general I googled a little and read up on a few step-by-step tutorials on how to go about with this. I'm not sure wether or not it's something I've meddled with that caused this problem, but in the middle of clicking around in my BIOS my computer suddenly dies. On reboot it halts and crashes after a few seconds only to reboot again before it even gets to the initial boot screen. It keeps going like this for 3-4 consecutive crashes until I pull the power. I open up my case and since my motherboard has a "mem-ok!" button which, according to the manual is used to reset BIOS and allow a safe boot. I press and hold for 5 seconds and it boots correctly and lets me undo any changes I've done to the BIOS. Everything seemed to be in working order, but now whenever I do a cold boot it still halts and crashes once or twice before it does a succesful boot.

I have to do a force shut down with my power button. When i start my computer again it goes fast to the "windows did not boot properly screen" I click start windows normally and it boots super fast. and on every restart it boots fine. View 1 Replies View RelatedMy office system is a Dell w/ Win7 and it's been running fine up until 1 month ago. Then it started this odd behavior. On a cold boot it runs about 5x to 20x times slower than normal, almost as if it's just running on a single core locked at 5%. Boot time to hit splash screen is 2.5 to 4.5 minutes (normal is 30 secs). And once I hit return on my pwd the system continues to run in super slow motion. If I just force a reboot, select Boot Windows Normally from the trouble menu, the the system boots in 30 secs, logs in fine, and runs normally.My boss has told me that other Win7 computers he owns/operates are now doing the same thing.I've no idea what could be causing this. Hearing that other Win7 computers are doing it tends to make me believe it isn't a problem specific to this computer or even this small office network. There are no USB devices other than the mouse and keyboard and we've switched those out. We'd recently installed virus protection software, but we removed that and the problem still continues.
The only other thing I can think of, is that we recently installed a printer driver so the system could print to a Brothers laser printer attached via USB to a computer across the local network. And come to think of it, my system wouldn't even see that printer and allow driver installation until we plugged the printer directly into my system. After installation we moved the printer back, and changed the settings for the system to find the printer across the network. I'll look into uninstalling that driver next time I'm in the office.
Update: New day, new slow boot. This time I forced an early reboot and I got the option to start a Windows Startup Repair. I started that, skipped doing a System Restore and let it run. Finally it came back with all tests fine except the following which crashed: System Files Integrity Check and Repair , Failed , Error Code #0x490 , Time Taken = 541573 ms. So it looks like the test that checks for problems crashed, leaving me to wonder if there might still be some hidden problem. And yet reboots run perfectly normal.
This is on a loptop Meldon E6882, running windows 7, to a LED TV HD. From a cold boot both the laptop monitor and HDMI screen show the windows starting screen .. But the HDMI screen goes blank when the login screen appears. I have tried different screen resolutions. No Luck. I have tried from the 'screen resolution' page to get automatically detect the HDMI - No luck I have tried from the 'screen resolution' page to manually select HDMI. Only offers VGA or component, no HDMI.
I think this maybe a disabled driver as I did a manual disabling of these some time ago in order to try and reduce the boot time. I cannot recall the names of the drivers I have put into manual start (some time ago), nor have I found any info on what drivers are needed for the HDMI. The screen driver is an Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000. I'd like to look at some video on the larger screen...
We are just rolling Windows 7 out as we update machines. so far we have a dozen or so HP's (not my choice)with Windows 7. We are using Win2003 server as our File and Print.The printer causing issues is a RICOH Aficio MP using the latest C5000 PCL 5c driver.Our issue is on every cold boot on *most* machines first print of the day we get Error Message: "Do you trust this printer? Windows needs to download and install a software driver from the\servername computer to print to PRINTERNAME. Proceed only if you trust he\servername computer and the network, and then restart the print job."You add the driver, everytime, but makes no difference. I've never had any problems to the point where I would need to reinstall the OS, however, I've noticed that on cold boots the system runs painfully slow, it will boot up fairly fast on a normal restart tho, like 20-35 seconds. On a cold boot it can take about 1-2 minutes to load in windows, and then once that happens its not so much it going slow as that there is a point during which I cannot click anything or else it will take forever to accomplish.
What I mean by this is, it will load to my desktop and for a period of about 3 more minutes I will try to right click on the desktop and it will do the circle thing for like 20 seconds before giving me the drop down menu. If I right click again right after, it shows up instantly. Same with trying to open up a file within those first couple of minutes. It will take like 45 seconds to open a picture. I have tweaked my windows 7 to startup only necessary drivers and turned off search index along with Aero.
My HDD isn't fragmented and I've got about 120gbs out of 450 available. So its not that bad. Now some of you may say, well its just loading the processes. But I only have catalyst control center loading up as a startup item. And even after it loads. It goes through a wierd 3-4 minute phase in which everything is slow as hell. Then works perfectly fine.
I have BSOD problem only when computer is "cold". example: After night when computer was turned off.
After a few restarts the computer starts normally and I can reboot, turn of and on with no problem until is "warm". When switching off for a few hours BSOD comes back.

View 7 Replies View Related[code] When I boot from it after the "Starting Windows" Screen I get BSOD and it says "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA".This is what I thought was important from the BSOD all the middle text says is disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing, and I have no idea how to do that and no idea if that would even fix this. Can this be caused from a faulty hard drive or is this a problem with the install disk itself.
View 21 Replies View RelatedAfter a bsod which I did not have the chance to see or read which happened at a random time (or so my friend says) when trying to boot to windows right after the windows logo comes up, a bsod pops up and the computer restarts. Then you get a choice to either enter windows repair or start windows normally. Start windows normally obviously returns the same result.
If I choose windows repair it fixes nothing and I end up in a loop unable to start windows. I tried these instructions here Startup Repair Infinite Loop Recovery with no success so I copied the dmp files from command line in windows repair to a usb stick and it�s 344MB! Should I upload to some host and post here or is there�s something wrong, Ive never seen a dmp this big.
I have recently copied Windows 7 to a usb flash drive.The problem is that i can't boot it when i try to install the OS.And because of that i install it from the setup,without restarting the pc and booting it.This excludes "the driver" options when i reach the choosing and formating partition part.All of the partition options(New,Format,Delete..etc.) are grey and can't be clicked.I know that this is caused due the booting problem.Can someone explain how to boot from the usb?When i restart the OS and try to start the instalation by booting the Windows just loads and that's it.I have to install it from the setup.exe
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've got a new copy of windows 7 (32 bit version) I have got 4 GB ram only 3,25 in use (like I had on the XP version, running on the same PC) and after I boot up the PC I just look at the desktop, play with some random games, create and delete folders, do some little stress to the RAM or sometimes just doing nothing. The only boot that works is safe mode and its variants. Things that I've done in the past 7 days:
- I checked RAM integrity - no errors
- Everything is up to date (drivers, everything) - it BSOD'ed even with a fresh copy of Windows 7
- I use wireless if that is a problem, found some errors about it and will post them after this list
- Enabled services and disabled them VIA msconfig (toying around I found out that it WONT CRASH with any internet service on normal mode)
- I checked Windows 7 compatibility and it's 100% compatible
- Tried to update BIOS but I don't think it will solve anything anyways
- Used dozens of registry cleaners (CCleaner and lots; lots more) - still nothing
- Put a second HDD on my machine with Windows 7 same version, it still crashed, but on the other machine the second HDD works great.

I have a laptop with twin HDDs and I have Vista on the C: partition on Drive 1. I created a new partition G: on Drive 2 and, while Vista was running, inserted the Win 7 disc and started installation to G:. All went perfectly and I have retained my original partitions with drive letters and labels, plus a new G: partition labeled Win 7. All seems to be working fine.Now I heard from a geeky friend that BOTH OS should be running on C: and that windows has some clever way of making that work. Is this true - and are there any disadvantages continuing installing MANY apps on G:?

My gpu is nvidia geforce gt 540m. The main BSOD error says: Attempt to reset the display driver and recover timeout failed.
I have another laptop and its a HP 2230s. I originally installed Windows 7 professional 64bit. But I have swapped the ram into my Lenovo ThinkPad. So the HP now has 2GB. I created a new partition and installed Vista Business 32bit on it. When I started the install windows .exe program in Windows 7, everything went well until it rebooted. When I rebooted, windows said something like:

The system cannot boot because of a recent change to files/hardware. (Something like that). Insert your windows disk.
So I just rebooted my laptop with the vista disk inside and installed. After, when everything was working, I wanted to go to the Windows 7 partition to un-install programs and copy some files over to the vista partition, the laptop just booted into vista.
I downloaded the easy BCD editior and visual BCD editor. (in the vista partition), I clicked the auto fix in visual BCD editor. It detected my windows installations. At the boot screen, I can select either Windows 7 or Vista. But when I select 7, the same error message appears.
Then I rebooted my laptop with a USB containing the Windows 7 (64bit) recovery tools. After, I don't have the message again. But when it goes to the starting windows animation, it stops halfway and it gets a BSOD. I tried debugging mode, it worked.
I found out that the larger partition, (Windows 7) is the C: drive. But when I boot into the smaller partition, (Windows Vista), the drive is also C:!. So I don't know what I could do.
I insert the windows 7 disk and repaired my installation, it just boots into windows 7. But when I insert the Vista disk and repaired my installation, it just boots into Vista!
ive been having these BSOD problems for a couple weeks.. they seem to occur only when i start my computer in the morning and do it a lot for the first hour or so, then seem to quit for the rest of the day.. ive changed all drivers and completely reformatted and reinstalled windows too... no luck?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI got a dual boot with GRUB2, Arch Linux + Windows 7 Pro x64.Always used it with no problems, and now the Windows loader can't work.I only managed to read the status value, 0xC0000225, and something like "boot manager generic failure", "a required device is inaccessible".I tried using the repair function from my full retail dvd, but it didn't work as well. I think it's because it acted on the windows partition, while the windows boot is stored in another partition of about 100mb, wich was created automatically during the dvd installation.So I guess the solution would be giving to the repair function the right drivers to let it "see" the boot partition, but how?

i have my old toshiba laptop satellite L745 . windows 7 ultimate(x86) Quad core with 4g ram and AMD radeon graphic cards. Recently I left my laptop untouched for a week because of our school exams. After finishing our exams I rushed going home to play with my laptop but when i try to open it , it hangs up on "starting windows screen" i try waiting for it in a few minute but that screen suddenly shows a BSOD error then my laptop reboot showing me the "Windows Error Recovery screen" with 2 options 1. Launch Start up Repair and 2. Start Windows Normally . I try choosing the 1st one (launch Start up repair) But after loading windows files it just show a plain Black screen with a mouse cursor.

On first start up a message come up first saying no disks found, then when I click onto the bios menu i have AHCI mode enabled and it detects SSD and CD drive absolutely fine. First I tried booting from original SSD with windows 7 already installed. Kept getting BSOD every time I get to windows loading screen.
Then after reading on forums people were re-installing windows back on to the SSD, but when trying to boot from the cd drive(yes its a bootable disc) nothing happens and it just goes to the windows repair screen then does nothing after attempting to repair. i have tried removing the SSD so only the cd drive is visible but then it comes up with the message "reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press any key"

Recently, my computer has been behaving quite oddly. It hasn't been booting up, but hasnt given any error messages. When I try to boot, it will open up to a black screen where the Starting Windows stuff is supposed to appear, but nothing will happen. I'll restart it a bunch of times, and eventually I'll get one where the words Starting Windows are there, but still nothing happens. If it offers me the option to load the repair program, it will open the screen that says windows is loading the files with the loading bar at the bottom, but nothing will load. It takes anywhere from 10 to 30 restarts before i'll seemingly just get lucky and it will turn on.Also, I've been freezing lately while playing BF3. My video card drivers are up to date, along with the other main drivers. Sometimes, I'll get a BSOD if I wait long enough, but it doesnt ususally happen. Also, when starting, sometimes when it says on the boot screen "Verifying DMI pool data", nothing will happen, and then it will suddenly say: Disk read error, press cntrl + alt + delete to restart.This leads me to believe that it's a disk error, which explains a lot of the symptoms i've been having lately, but I just dont know where to start the diagnosis.

The PC was displaying symptons of page hijacking, so I ran MalwareBytes and got rid of 17 objects. Did not make a difference, so I ran TDSSKiller. It found 1 bit of malware but the hijacking persisted. I downloaded ComboFix and ran it in Safe Mode. It gave me some sort of error that was only visible for a split second before it disappeared, leaving only the initial small blue CF box, which stopped functioning, and I noticed that the CF task was gone. This happened 3 times in a row.
I then tried a system restore to about 3 weeks ago. It probably sat on the 'restoring files' screen for a half hour before finally saying 'Shutting Down'. After 45 minutes of (not) shutting down I pressed the power button and turned it off.
A restart brought me to the Windows Error Recovery Screen where I am presented with but 2 choices - Launch Startup Repair or Start Windows Normally.
The 'repair' option takes me to a Windows Boot Manager screen which prompts me to insert the install disk and reboot, indicating that The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible
So I use the CD. When booting from that CD I can see it loading files, then it says Starting Windows, the initial blue sky screen displays for a few seconds - then the BSOD: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA with an 0x50 code. This always happens with this disk.
A different Windows 7 CD has given me the same start up to the blue sky, but with 3 different BSODs. One had Bad Pool Header and the other said An attempt was made to write to read-only memory and the 3rd had the same PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
Only 3 of the 4 choices presented to me at HP opening boot screen seemed to work when I first started this awful task. F11 for Recovery did nothing. I DID use f9-Diagnostics and it passed all the tests. Now, sadly, the only option that works is ESC to change the boot order.
