Oct 24, 2012Right about the time we got the virus out I started to get regular system freezes and BSODs at random times throughout the day. I'm not sure if it's something we did, if the virus messed something up, or if it's some unrelated issue. It's not the memory since I tested it last night and there weren't any errors.It can happen at any time. I haven't been playing any games and the only game I ever do play on this laptop is minecraft. I do play some Hulu and Netflix videos, but these crashes and lockups don't only occur when I'm watching a video. I can simply be browsing the web or working on my webpage and I will get the BSOD or the system will freeze.[CODE]

After a while it started freezing all the time so I decided to clean it up. It had tons of dust that I removed and I even applied thermal paste MX3 to the processor. Everything went well for a few months but now the freezing has restarted. Basically, I turn it on and it freezes while doing small stuff like opening firefox or steam whithin a minutes.
Normally the screen goes black but the lights in the tower stay on and the fans keep working. I have to manually reboot and then it just works normally with no more freezings. I am running Windows 7 64 bit. It crashes basically whenever computer goes to sleep mode and when I try to hit enter and wake up the system from sleep mode I get this blue screen issue and below is what I get.

Nov 16, 2011My computer locks up randomly and the screen turns black and unresponsive, at least once per day, forcing me to do a hard reset.There is no BSOD or Minidump created, although sometimes (maybe 75% of the time) there is a dump file created in the LiveKernelReports folder. The dump files in LiveKernelReports always point to atikmpag.sys. I tried uninstalling all video card drivers and using driver sweeper, and letting Windows use default graphics. I continued to get the same freezes, except no dump files were created at all in LiveKernelReports. I then reinstalled the ATI drivers, and the symptoms persist, now with dump files again pointing to the same atikmpag.sys.this only happens when the system is idle for a while. I never get freezes when actively using the system, but if I return to it after an hour or more, it's just a black screen and I must do a hard reset.I am running Win 7 professional 64-bit full version, 8 gb ram, 1gb ddr5 msi video card.Another strange symptom: After the hard reset, the computer has deleted all of my IE cookies. It also has forgotten the IE window size after these hard resets... very bizarre. In fact, if I make any changes to the desktop -- for example, by moving the icons or re-sorting them by name -- Windows doesn't remember this either. On reboot, it reverts to whatever I had on the desktop before making the changes. This does not happen on a normal restart/reboot. If I do not wait for it to crash, and instead I reboot normally, all of my settings/cookies/window sizes are preserved like you'd expect.
I've tried the following:
- ran memtest86, no errors after 9 passes
- ran seatools hard drive diagnostics, no errors found
- ran Hot CPU Tester 4, no errors found
- reinstalled/reseated graphics gard and memory sticks
- running with a single memory stick (same crashes occur with either memory stick)
- the windows memory and hard drive diagnostic tools, no errors found
- When running Driver Verifier, I get the same freezes, and still no minidump or bsod.
- Disabling all power saving options both in Windows and in the BIOS, like sleep mode, hibernate, etc.
- Updating all drivers that seemed out of date and upgrading bios to latest firmware.
Prime95 and furmark run without issue, and do not crash the system (presumably, because the system isn't idle when they are running). Idle temps (~30 degrees C) and temps under heavy load (about 60 degrees C) are well within the normal range.If I run in safe mode, it does not seem to occur, but I'm not positive because I've never stayed in safe mode for more than a day.

Jul 6, 2012I recently put together a new computer and installed Windows 7 on it. Everything seems to work fine, except when I resume using the computer after it goes to sleep, I get a BSOD. When I wake the computer up, it shows me the log-in screen, but when I click on my user profile to log in a blue screen appears. Also, it only seems to happen when the computer enters sleep mode on its own. If I put it into sleep mode, it wakes up with no problems.

Mar 30, 2012I have a WD 320Gb 3.5inch hard drive that was originally bought as an external drive in an enclosure. A few months ago, while booting, my computer would go through blue screens one after another if the external hard drive was switched on from the enclosure when the computer was started. I never really did anything about that, just left it off and turned it on when i needed it. Mind you, it and the computer still seemed to work fine.
Now i have decided to keep it internally. So, as soon as i booted up after connecting up the same drive, i'm going through these exact same blue screens again. I'm not 100% sure if that is the cause but signs point to it.

Aug 19, 2012I've had trouble with BSODS and screen freezes on and of for a couple of weeks. Sometimes there is no dumpfile and sometimes there is nothing in event viewer. I uninstalled Avast free and the problem was gone for 4 days. I've tried almost everything. Cleaning out dust updating drivers sfc scannow/ diskcheck. I also reinstalled an image from before the problems started I had another this morning but no log I attacked what I've found relating to it. This is a Windows 7 64 bit with 8 gig ram and a NVIDIA GT 9800 video card. It's a HP dt500.

Nov 28, 2012i have random freezes sometimes they are glitchy and rarely bsod all on bootup or up to about half hour in (which also turns of the mouse). also Internet doesn't autoplay playlists and all sugestions next to the video are black. this started a few weeks to a month ago, first it seemed just a minor annoyance but it started to become more often the last few days. i've tried some checks but without success.
also i remember the week before those crashes that twice the screen driver crashed for a second or 2 and then a message popped up about how a monitor driver crash was adjusted, always when i played a certain game that is still in beta so i taught it was the game.

Mar 28, 2012I haven't been able to get my system running stable since a clean install of Windows 7 Professional 64 a few months now. The computer is about 3 years old. Local pc tech shop installed 7 64 Pro on a brand new hard drive (2 months ago) that was tested prior to installing the OS.I've included required reports. I believe my memory has been thoroughly tested and is running well. The only thing I haven't done is uninstalling Avast though not sure why it would be a problem software.

This started occurring after I had just opened a slot in the back that only had access to the ram but didn't modify anything. I can post a picture of that if needed. It seems to occur when I put the computer under a small amount of load. It will happen if I run maybe 4 programs max. Jul 10, 2012a couple of days ago my computer started getting blue screens of death, now sometimes my computer gets a small second freeze and makes a sound like the computers crashed before it fixes itself, if it doesnt freeze, it makes the same sound but blue screens instead and when it happens, the file that apparently crashes is different every time, for some reason the collection program isnt working for me either, it seems to freeze at steps as well when it is running the system info report, nothing else happens and the folder in my documents does not appear, ive had it run for 30 minutes and nothing's happeneds

Dec 19, 2011one day it suddenly crashed while i was watching a movie. it displayed random patterns on screen. kinda like part of the image from the video is on the screen then a black strip and random colors. I restarted the unit to safe mode and left it on and browsed the net and downloaded some big files for how many hours and nothing happened.. there are also times when windows is still loading with the windows logo on screen, it crashes. there are also times when the login screen is displayed and it crashes. it just crashes randomly! so i tried to reformat it. i deleted the partitions and created a new one, formatted it then fresh installed windows 7 ( my previous OS is windows 7 by the way) and started installing the basic drivers and after a few hours, it crashed again...thinking that the driver installed might not be compatible, i tried another fresh install of windows (same execution, delete partition, create, install OS) and this time, without installing the drivers, it crashed again after a few hours... sometimes it crashes immediately after turning it on from cold start!

Jul 4, 2012I get BSOD's on a regular basis, with different error codes. Whenever it does happen I usually have two BSOD's within a few days, then no BSOD's for months and then again two within a few days etcetera. I've followed the instructions of this forum, I placed the system health report within the compressed folder which I uploaded.
I don't know if it has any relevance, but the last few days I also had problems with Windows Media Centre, WMC detected itself that it didn't work porperly. Symptoms: freezing of picture, not getting behind a certain time of the videobuffer. It had no problem with recording, just with playing live tv. Those BSOD's however happen both when WMC is running and when it's not running.

I've left it for about an hour before and still nothing, not real sure what the problem is there either. Right now I'm running the laptop off safe mode with networking and it's working fine, hopefully it's just a driver problem I can fix.
I'm on Windows 7 32bit and let me know if you need any more information.
