Autochk Program Not Found Error After Windows 7 Logo
Aug 25, 2012
I have a Lenovo p580, last night around 12:30am, I was watching a movie on my laptop and it randomly restarted. When it got past the welcome after a millions of beeps, the screen went black, so i hard rebooted it by holding down the power button. Then when the window sign begins to be created by those dots, about the second dot I got the blue screen of death, which I could not read because it automatically restarted and then i went into start up repair which, couldn't resolve the problem.
I tried booting into safe mode and it wasn't working so I thought it was a problem with the hdd. I realised the hdd area was really hot so I turned off the laptop and let it charge overnight. Now the laptop is working fine, I ran a check disk during startup. However now, after the windows logo I have a very quick error which is something along the lines "autochk program not found, skipping autocheck (not 100% sure if those are the corrects words, but skipping and autochk not found is in it".
I have looked at the registry value for autochk and found this
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager
BootExecute REG_MULTI_SZ Autocheck autoch
I ran chkdsk/r attempting to fix a separate issue. And then I noticed afterwards that during the boot process, I would get this message:autochk* program not found - skipping AUTOCHECKThe message shows up after the windows logo and before the logon screen.I can still run windows just fine with no problems what-so-ever. The only issue with it, is that it's there. I just want to make the message go away. I can make it not show up by selecting "no GUI boot" in msconfig, but that only masks the issue.

as usual I turned off my laptop and after a while a turned on again to use my laptop but it couldn't reach operating system and showed error : " OPERATING SYSTEM NOT FOUND" !
I tried all instructions to solve the problem and finally run by windows start up CD to re-install new windows. this time I faced error: " No drivers were found. click load driver to provide a mass storage driver for installation"
I have Window Seven family on my laptop. It goes quite well. but doing some maintenance, I noticed that SFC scannow detected a problem. From the log (sfc detail below) it seems to me that it is autotchk.exe is corrupted, both in Windows and in Windows backup store.I can however do a checkdsk which go fine, and do not detect problem (it seems to often be the case when the autochk.exe is currupted). So it goes well.As suggested on many thread, I redid many sfc scans, reboot and retry (seven times at least) without change. O course I did also many virus and spyware scan, both software and online, an the PC is clean, so it don't seems to be the problemI would like an easy remedy, as I don't want to spend days reinstalling Windows, software and settings, and as everything else seems fine.
1 -I was wondering it the autochk.exe is really to be changed, and if this is the only SFC problem. (I posted scan details)
2 -And if so, is this a way I can just copy Autotchk.exe from another PC running window (32 bits as the laptop, in Ultimate or Starter version (both at hand) and replace it in Window.OR to take it from a friend PC that have Seven Family (exactl like the laptop) And also should I change also both autochk.exe.mui which are in the same file or is it pointless ? Or, if not possible, where and how can I get an clean autochk.exe ?
3 - Or is the whole thing unecessary, and am I better to leave things as they are ?

I recently had a virus-esque program on my computer called win 7 home security 2011. It was a fake anti-virus program that was telling me I had viruses in an attempt to get me to buy their fake product. Anyway, the program is now history but I am encountering more problems that may or may not be a side effect of the virus. When I try to open an application I get an error giving the file location of the application followed by the message "Application not found". I can get around this and open the application by following the file location given by the error message and opening it. It then forces me to choose which program to open it with, in which case I need to tell it to open it with itself...
This is very irritating and in many cases makes opening applications close to impossible. When I'm choosing the program to open it with, it won't allow me to check the box telling it to set the program as the default. Is there any way to solve this issue short of completely re-installing windows 7?
i have Acer Aspire laptop. For vista.i have installled windows 7 long ago.now i am getting error. while booting.Error like "Disk 0".please anyone can help.and i have tried to install windows 7 again but hard disk is not allowing me to install.

[code] So I get the Comp built, and did not have a windows iso yet, so I put Ubuntu 11.04 on it. When I tried to put on Windows 7 64-bit, via live USB, I get to the Install Windows button (very early in the process), before it gives me the error LOAD DRIVER: No device drivers were found. Make Sure the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK.So I can browse for drivers, and I have downloaded the Windows drivers for the Sata and AMD 970 chipset from Gigabyte, but the install windows screen does not pick them up. I hit browse and then find the folder i saved them in and hit ok, yet it finds nothing. My bios have been changed from AHCI to IDE with no luck.
I have a file on my desktop that is called "Awesome." If I go to the properties, it says the file type is "File (.)" If I try to delete it it says "Could not find this item. It is no longer located in (my desktop directory) Verify the item's location and try again. I looked everywhere and searched this many times but nothing works for me. I think I was trying to save a picture as a jpg or something and somehow this happened.
After changing my os from linux to Windows 7 , there are a few media files on my external hd that give the error location not found. It's not a big deal about the files as i can replace them, but i would like to be able remove them from the hd as now they are just empty folders, how would i remove them if every time i click on them i just get that error?
I recently had a virus (windows 7 antivirus 2012) and I removed it safely. Now I am having problems opening programs on my system all around and I suspect it is a registry problem. I could open the programs via "Run as administrator" but that is a huge hassle (my user account has administrator privileges.) Another thing is when I try to open the program and it has the "select from one of the following to open" window, usually when i select a program to open it with there's a bottom check box for "always use selected..." but that is grayed out... not sure what is happening.I tried to create a new user and that new user can open programs fine.
When I log into my computer, I get the following error message " There was a problem starting C:UsersOl-Scurt-DoggAppDataLocaluictaner.dll The specific module could not be found. ". I have searched and searched and searched for this error with no success except for registry cleaners/fixers that of course require my credit card to do the full fix.I do understand what the DLL is and what it does but also know how critical it is to be exact when dealing with the registry. Can anyone give me a straight forward resolution for this issue?
I have a Lenovo T61 running Windows 7 ultimate x32. Every time I plug a new USB device in I get 'no driver found' and it won't install, even if pointed to manufacturer drivers. I've updated windows and all the lenovo software/drivers...
I own an Asus K61IC laptop (Pentium dual-core processor 2.7 Ghz) which runs Windows 7 Home Premium (pre-installed). A few days ago it started to get stuck during some startups at the welcome screen (preceded by a small hang time between you click the user and the password box comes up). Today the problem became serious after it got stuck again at the first boot-up, and I had to turn it off from the on switch. Finally it successfully start from the second time and when it did I searched in the event logs and found 2 errors which happened during the first boot-up: -Zone alarm could not start because it timed out (I'm not too worried because the second startup showed a similar error with spybot) -The embedded controller (EC) did not respond within the specified timeout period. This may indicate that there is an error in the EC hardware or firmware or that the BIOS is accessing the EC incorrectly. You should check with your computer manufacturer for an upgraded BIOS. In some situations, this error may cause the computer to function incorrectly. (I copy/paste this from the event log, if you need the hole thing ask for it) I should mention the computer runs avira free and that I checked using the Asus Live Update that the BIOS is up to date.
my 6 weeks old acer aspire laptop, win7 - 64bit, has started showing the message "fatal error no language file was found".i cannot get into I/E8 in either normal mode or safe mode. safe mode is good in all other aspects, normal mode is hopeless.the message appears in the middle of the page at the same time desktop opens.
I just recently returned from a trip out of town and found when I tried to boot my computer I had a Grub boot error 15, file not found. I've never heard of grub4dos before I began trying to figure out what was wrong with my computer and found that it is used for dual booting. I run windows 7 ultimate x64 and have never dual booted my machine. While my laptop itself is not password protected, I do require a password to get into windows.
get around the required password to install grub4dos, install linux, then copy my hard-drive, leaving it useless when they're done? If not, is there some other way, a virus or trojan, that could cause windows to fail and revert to grub? I did remove my hard-drive, put it into an external case and try to look at it on another computer. In the disk manager it shows that it's healthy, has 465gb avail and the format is RAW.
I keep getting Error code: 0x80070035 The network path was not found error whenever I try to connect to any other computer (running windows 7 ultimate) on my network. I have another computer with windows 7 ultimate that does not have this problem. Firewalls are disabled on all computers.
Computers all ping fine. Can ping by name too. If I try to connect via IP address, I get Error Code: Error0x80004005 Unspecified error
I've just used Windows Update to install SP1 on two more or less identical computers with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. On one of the computers only the following error and warning are showing in the event viewer, from around the time the actual installation started (ie immediately after the download completed):Error - Source VSS, Event ID 12305 Task Category None:Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Volume/disk not connected or not found. Error context: DeviceIoControl(\?GLOBALROOTDeviceHarddiskVolumeShadowCopy18 - 000000000.....). Operation:Processing PostFinalCommitSnapshotsContext: Execution Context: System Provider________Warning - Source Ntfs Event ID 57 Task Category (2)The system failed to flush data to the transaction log.Corruption may occur.(end of messages)Both messages showed exactly the same time. System restore shows that a restore point was created at the same time, which suggests that it did manage to create a restore point despite the error.I tried restarting the computer, and it didn't try to run chkdsk (which I would expect it to do if there were any disk errors, and which has been mentioned on other forums). Disk management shows all disks and partitions to be healthy (before and after the restart).
I have had my system up and running with Windows 7 for at least four or five months. I have four drives in an mATX case. Yesterday, while it was idle, I saw it flash a BSOD and then rebooted. when it restated it displayed the following Error: "No active partition found. Reboot your computer." Which I did several times to no avail. Next, I used the install disk to try to "repair" the partition...seven or ten times, no luck. Also, no drives were listed in the window at repair prompt. So, I pulled all the cables on all the drives but the one containing the system and voilas! here I am writing to you without issue and without three of my drives. I have two other sata drives in addition to my system sata drive. one IDE drive on the system.
Ok, I have a laptop and a desktop. Desktop is currently running 7 x64 and laptop is running 7 x86.
Few weeks ago I was able to access my LAPTOP from my DESKTOP normally by using the Network in the explorer. I was prompted to key in my Username and Password of my LAPTOP and I gained access after.
Now, I have no idea what happened to my DESKTOP. I am able to access other computers but not my LAPTOP. It keeps stating Network path not found with error code 0x80070035. Troubleshooting indicates no problems found.
I do dual-boot with Vista x64 on my DESKTOP and I am able to gain access to my LAPTOP using Vista.
One of the workaround I got for Windows 7 is to create HomeGroup and use my LAPTOP to join it and I can gain access to Network after that.
So, is this a HomeGroup bug and any fix for it?
EDIT: Never mind, I just re-create my password on my laptop and it's fine now. So, it's really weird.
I'm trying to run a DOS program (Locoscript 2.51) in XP mode on a Windows 7 Ultimate virtual PC. This doesn't run - with a message 'error writing file(xxxx) path not found'.Program works perfectly in native XP (on a different machine) and the file is in the same place on both.
(TravelMate 5620) running Vista I installed Microsoft Office 2007 and Outlook worked the first time, but after opening it a second time it gave me an error message, saying that "This application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found. url...
