View 1 Replies View RelatedI have this laptop with Windows 7 as the operating system and with a capacity of 500 GB. My HDD was making loud noises and weird noises so I brought it to the shop and they told me to change the HDD because it might die anytime. So I did a full backup on my external hard disk, meaning that I cloned my laptop. I changed my 500gb HDD with a 240gb SSD. And when I tried to restore my backup files into the new drive, there's an error: "no disk that can be used for recovering the system disk can be found".
So I did some research on the internet and found out the reason of the error: it's because the image created was from a bigger drive than the new drive I put into my laptop. Even though my backup files are only about 100gb, I still cant restore it to my 240gb SSD because the image created was from my 500gb HDD. I am going to copy my backup files into an external hardisk with a capacity of 200gb and then backup from that drive and then I will restore it into my 240gb SSD. Will the backup file be considered as a backup from the 200gb drive or from the original 500gb HDD?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Sony Vaio laptop which I did not originally purchase but traded for my iPod touch. This Vaio has a Windows Vista sticker, but the man I got it from told me he installed Windows 7 Ultimate on it. He did not tell me that it was a Release Candidate version. I found that out after 2 hours of using this PC, when it suddenly restarted. After June 1 it began notifying me of the RC issue, it being expired.
So, this week I finally decided to get rid of the RC version. I purchased a new Windows 7 Ultimate package and downloaded KillDisk (Active@ Kill Disk Hard Drive Eraser. Low Level Format.) to swipe my hard drive clean. I burnt KillDisk onto a DVD and ran the program, which was successful.
Afterwards I bought a new Windows 7 Ultimate package, tried to run the DVD but it now gives me the error "Operating System Not Found".
The BIOS on this Vaio model does not have a whole lot of settings to change, so what do I do???
My system dual boots to either Windows 7 or Vista Ultimate, or, at least it is supposed to. Something happened and now the system just boots to Winodows 7 without giving me the choice to boot to either. When I use F6 I find that only Windows 7 is listed in the Operating Systems box.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi bought my acer machine a little before the time period of the whole " Free upgrade to windows 7 gimmick" and bought 4 new retail version of ultimate for my home computers. 3 of them i put together my self and windows 7 installed with no problems. however on my acer machine i have done a clean install reformatted the drive and installed win7 i get through the whole setup including the part where you name the computer put in the home group password then when it restarts the last time to boot into win7 it gets stuck at the "verifying DMI pool Data" and nothing happens after that.
Things i have tried that didnt fix the problem
1. Enable "Reset Configuration Data" in bios
2. disable internal and external cpu cache
im thinking that acer some how locked the bios to only run windows vista? is that possible?
I own a acer aspire laptop 5100 series which came with Vista pre installed on it.My ex boyfired decided to install Windows 7 Professional on my laptop earlier this year and now I can't seem to get skype working properly like it use to before Win 7. Nobody can hear me and I've configured the the microphone and speakers to how they should be set in order for skype to work but no one can hear although I can hear every one just fine. I have the latest version on skype installed. I was wondering if the issue is because I have windows 7 on here instead of what it originally came with?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a new Sata 3 Hard Drive (500gb Sata 3 Barccuda) for my PC. I've downloaded countless Windows 7 ISO's. I have a LEGIT key. After burning it on ImgBurn, Nero and Poweriso at 4x and 3.5 (Can't go lower than 3.5) It gets to the Language setup after 30minutes or so, Than a futher hour to get to driver selectio, but once on driver selection it tells me "No device driver found", I've tried lots of seperate ISO's and even Vista!
