i bought my acer machine a little before the time period of the whole " Free upgrade to windows 7 gimmick" and bought 4 new retail version of ultimate for my home computers. 3 of them i put together my self and windows 7 installed with no problems. however on my acer machine i have done a clean install reformatted the drive and installed win7 i get through the whole setup including the part where you name the computer put in the home group password then when it restarts the last time to boot into win7 it gets stuck at the "verifying DMI pool Data" and nothing happens after that.
Things i have tried that didnt fix the problem
1. Enable "Reset Configuration Data" in bios
2. disable internal and external cpu cache
im thinking that acer some how locked the bios to only run windows vista? is that possible?
bought a acer with bad screen, replaced only to find out it is password locked. How can I reload windows7 or get pass the password so this unit is operable.
ok so i put on a long password and i forget it and i didn't make a password reset disk and my account is the only one on the computer model fx6802-07c.
windows 7 os anyone know how i could reset the password only.
I was trying to allow other computers to interact on my small router network. As I walked through the steps, I was shown my password, which I wrote down. Now, when I try to reboot, I'm entirely locked out of my computer--the case sensitive password I so carefully wrote down doesn't work. As I say, I'm locked out of my computer. It's asking for some kind of change of password disk, which I don't have....
I am missing a password for win 7 ultimate. I dont have administrator and also cannot just open bios and reset all passwords. It seems that this computer is networked to others and it is locked from outside.
I've recently ran into this problem on my computer. My monitor will not sleep while the computer is locked. If I just let it sit, the screen saver will appear, then the monitor will sleep. However, once the computer is locked, the monitor will not sleep. The monitor auto sleeping was working perfectly fine last week.I have triple checked the Power Options, ensuring the monitor sleeps in 10 minutes (screen saver activates at 5 minutes). I've also looked at the Advanced Power Options setting, and that is set at 10 minutes as well. I have reset to defaults and the problem still persists. I have also tried to set a GPO to see if that would work, nothing either.how the monitor will sleep when the computer isn't locked.I know I could just sleep my computer (I don't want to) or turn my monitor off (this gets annoying after a while).
Edit: What I've done/tried:
Triple checked monitor settings/power options Reset to defaults, then set the monitor to sleep at 10 minutes Changed to a new theme Enabled monitor sleep GPO Restarted multiple times Disabled screen saver My monitor has no sleep settings (settings, not function; it has the sleep function)
I am using the intel i7 2600k processor with the built-in hd3000 video. I tried playing Mass Effect 2 and got an error saying Direct3D could not be accessed because youy computer is locked. I am running directx 11 according to my dxdiag run, run i believe hd3000 does not support this. Is there a way to downgrade to a lower version of directx or fix this issues another way?
I recentley downloaded an alarm clock program by the name of '' Alarm Master Plus '' in evaluation trile. when I shut my computer off, instead of shutting it down I ask for the computer's sleep mode or '' Mettre en veille '' option (in french). The next morning I always find myself in front of the a screen which has two buttons. One says '' Verrouiil '' (locked), and the other one says '' change user '' . When I click on the '' Locked '' button I find myself on my desk with my alarm starting '' Always late
I have my computer set up as a HTPC and is connected to my HDTV. The problem is, my TV only has two HD ports and I have three things to connect to it: TelusTV box, Blu-ray player, and computer. I don't want to have to leave the computer unlocked for all to access, but I'd like it to be as easy as possible for anyone to instantly start playing a disk, preferably without logging into a guest account first.
i have a lg xnote that i got given to me because they didnt know what to do with it. when i turn it on it comes up as "harddisk security" and "primary master" and asks for a password that i dont have. i just want to wipe it or something?
I was waking up one morning to get a quiz done before my Computer Science class. I like to think I'm pretty proficient. But when my computer was going really slow, and eventually locked up, I was forced to do a hard shutdown. Unfortunately, when I went to load it up, it loaded the BIOS, and then it goes to load Windows and poof. Starting windows pops up, but the windows icon never pops up. After about 5-10 minutes, my computer will restart.
Alright, so the first general action is to boot into Safe Mode, but this doesn't work either. I try to boot it up and the greyish screen with "Loading Windows Files." at the top and "Please Wait..." at the bottom. It stops there. Nothing loads up, it just stops. So, I hard reset it again, and THIS time, it says " Startup Repair. " So, I think to myself, this should fix the problem. I load up the startup repair. Loading Windows Files works, then it looks like its loading up and then BAM!
Black screen with a white cursor. SO! I have read up on this error quite a bit, but unfortunately, most of them happen before log in. They say to Ctr+Alt+Del into task manager. I don't have that option because the ctrl alt del doesn't work. So, I break down and try and load up the recovery console from my USB drive that I have on boot. All that does is mimic trying to do startup repair.
(TravelMate 5620) running Vista I installed Microsoft Office 2007 and Outlook worked the first time, but after opening it a second time it gave me an error message, saying that "This application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found. url...
I own a acer aspire laptop 5100 series which came with Vista pre installed on it.My ex boyfired decided to install Windows 7 Professional on my laptop earlier this year and now I can't seem to get skype working properly like it use to before Win 7. Nobody can hear me and I've configured the the microphone and speakers to how they should be set in order for skype to work but no one can hear although I can hear every one just fine. I have the latest version on skype installed. I was wondering if the issue is because I have windows 7 on here instead of what it originally came with?
Can windows 7 be run on an Acer aspire 4810t designed for windows vista? if so how many problems am i gonna run into as far as compatibility and drivers ?
Which is better for an older computer? Vista or Windows 7? I've got a Pentium 4 3Ghz with 1.5GB of RAM and onboard graphics. Vista seems to be a little much for this old of a computer. Would Windows 7 handle the system better?
I would like to start this firstly by saying I went to post this fast, so I probably posted this in the wrong area. A bump to the appropriate area would be nice.Today, I came face to face with the FBI Moneypak virus. Pain in the butt. I was happy to know there was a solution to this, the Safe Mode with Networking solution. But here's the problem. It seems the virus has almost TOTAL control of my computer. The virus auto-restarts my computer when I enter plain safemode, and my comuter freezes when I try to enter SM w/ Command Prompt or SM w/ Networking. It stops loading the files and my computer refuses to boot. All I can do is start normally and see my computer regard me with "The FBI has locked this computer."I would like to state there is nothing on my computer that would be cause for the FBI to fine me. But this seems like the work of someone who knew every possible solution and decided to prevent it.
Lenovo 3000 N100 laptop with Vista on it had all sorts of issues. I cleaned them all up, but couldn't stop it from hanging. Seemingly random. Complete and permanent freeze requiring 10 seconds on the power button to restart.
Eventually decided to move to Win 7 RC. Formatted hard disk completely (with BootIt NG) before installing. Still having the same problem.
Memtest86 reports no issues (after 47 hours).
Chkdsk no errors.
sfc.exe no errors.
Hitachi dtf no errors (although it's a Toshiba drive).
All the regular spyware, adware, malware programs - no issues.
Interestingly, the problem doesn't seem to occur in Safe mode or when performing chkdsk, installing Windows, or anything else outside the main windows environment. This leads me to believe it's not hardware, but some system/software element common to both Vista and Windows 7?
I'm using a Lenovo 3000 N100. 1.73GHz, 1gig ram, 32 bit Win 7, version 6.1, build 7100.
Also, I'm currently trying to run a Windows Update from within Safe Mode With Networking, but it's not working. Should it be?
I know this question has been asked several times, and I've done a lot of research into it already, but I still can't seem to change my folder (in this case D:Movies) to be shared an accessed by my Vista x64 primary computer.
When I go into my Network and access the computer, it lets me view the shared folders that I've set sharing on, but when I actually double click the folder to open it I get this error message:
Windows cannot access XXXXX-DownloadsMovies
Check the spelling of the name. Otherwise, there might be a problem with your network. To try to identify and resolve network problems, click Diagnose. The error code is 0x80070005.
When I diagnose it tells me that the folder is available but my user account doesn't have access. However, I've already disabled password protected sharing, and I've accessed the Public section of my sharing settings and enabled everything that I read in previous posts, all to no avail.
I also read up on selecting the folder, then clicking the Share With.. tab and selecting "Everyone Read/Write", every time I try doing this as soon as I select the Share With.. tab again it's defaulted back to Nobody.
Here's the part I'm not sure could be causing all of this:
This folder, Movies, was originally on my Main Desktop PC (the Windows 7 machine is my new downloads machine) I bought a new 1.5TB sata2 hdd and set it up on my x64 vista (main) and transferred my movies folder on to it, then I uninstalled the hard drive and reinstalled it on my windows 7 x64 (downloads/secondary pc)
So the folder was originally on another computer, but was swapped via my new 1.5 TB hard drive, I'm not sure if this is related as I'm not a guru when it comes to any OS.
Regardless, I really need to get this folder on my Windows 7 machine accessible on my Windows Vista primary as soon as possible. If you need anymore information regarding either of my computers please let me know and I'll gather it as fast as I can,
Can a HDD that has documents and pictures I would like to save, that also has windows vista on it and move it to a Win 7 computer reformat the HDD I want to recover?
I am going to buy a Windows 7 laptop, but I have had experience with Windows 7 and personally hate it, so when I get this laptop I want to revert back to Vista operating system... How do I do it? Can the Vista be downloaded from Microsoft's website, or do I need to buy Vista in a CD?
My computer originally came with Vista. I began to have issues with navigating in "My Computer", as it would often freeze and make it nearly impossible to use at times. I received a free upgrade to Windows 7, which I had hoped would solve my issues. It did not, unfortunately. Is there any way that I could remove all the Vista files from my computer
