Cannot Delete User Folder (Locked) With No Associated Account?
Aug 24, 2012My husband and I just got a new desktop, I originally planned on sharing a user account but since we're both in school I figured to have our own user accounts just to keep our files more separated and everything. So I created a second user account for me. I then realized that since he uses MY iTunes account, it makes sense that we use a shared music folder. Somehow I effed up my folders, the Public Music folder in particular. The only way I could see how to fix it was to restore it. Well that fixed the music folder problem, but it restored the computer back to before I had set up my own user login. No problem, I went back in and re-created it. Now my problem is that the user accounts are just fine, but the user folder from my first account is still in the the C drive under "users" but technically there is no user account that's attached to it. And of course, the folder is locked. I tried to delete it, but got a popup saying I was about to delete a system file so How to I remedy this situation???

Jan 21, 2012I have recently updated my hdd with a clean windows 7 install, but had the old one on a secondary hard disk as a back up. I now need to delete these files to save space on my data drive, but am unable to delete the system and windows files as they are owned by TrustedInstaller.
I discovered how to take ownership of these directories, but now the UAC is telling me that I need permission from myself to delete the files which I own!
Is there anyway to get round this without shipping out my data and doing a format, which I don't want to do as I always seem to miss something important..

Now, when I try to reboot, I'm entirely locked out of my computer--the case sensitive password I so carefully wrote down doesn't work. As I say, I'm locked out of my computer. Sep 26, 2012I've recently ran into this problem on my computer. My monitor will not sleep while the computer is locked. If I just let it sit, the screen saver will appear, then the monitor will sleep. However, once the computer is locked, the monitor will not sleep.The monitor auto sleeping was working perfectly fine last week.I have triple checked the Power Options, ensuring the monitor sleeps in 10 minutes (screen saver activates at 5 minutes). I've also looked at the Advanced Power Options setting, and that is set at 10 minutes as well. I have reset to defaults and the problem still persists. I have also tried to set a GPO to see if that would work, nothing either.how the monitor will sleep when the computer isn't locked.I know I could just sleep my computer (I don't want to) or turn my monitor off (this gets annoying after a while).
Edit: What I've done/tried:
Triple checked monitor settings/power options
Reset to defaults, then set the monitor to sleep at 10 minutes
Changed to a new theme
Enabled monitor sleep GPO
Restarted multiple times
Disabled screen saver
My monitor has no sleep settings (settings, not function; it has the sleep function)
Acer Computer Locked To Vista
Nov 8, 2009i bought my acer machine a little before the time period of the whole " Free upgrade to windows 7 gimmick" and bought 4 new retail version of ultimate for my home computers. 3 of them i put together my self and windows 7 installed with no problems. however on my acer machine i have done a clean install reformatted the drive and installed win7 i get through the whole setup including the part where you name the computer put in the home group password then when it restarts the last time to boot into win7 it gets stuck at the "verifying DMI pool Data" and nothing happens after that.
Things i have tried that didnt fix the problem
1. Enable "Reset Configuration Data" in bios
2. disable internal and external cpu cache
im thinking that acer some how locked the bios to only run windows vista? is that possible?
Direct3D Could Not Be Accessed Because Your Computer Is Locked
May 9, 2011I am using the intel i7 2600k processor with the built-in hd3000 video. I tried playing Mass Effect 2 and got an error saying Direct3D could not be accessed because youy computer is locked. I am running directx 11 according to my dxdiag run, run i believe hd3000 does not support this. Is there a way to downgrade to a lower version of directx or fix this issues another way?

Mar 1, 2011I was waking up one morning to get a quiz done before my Computer Science class. I like to think I'm pretty proficient. But when my computer was going really slow, and eventually locked up, I was forced to do a hard shutdown. Unfortunately, when I went to load it up, it loaded the BIOS, and then it goes to load Windows and poof. Starting windows pops up, but the windows icon never pops up. After about 5-10 minutes, my computer will restart.
Alright, so the first general action is to boot into Safe Mode, but this doesn't work either. I try to boot it up and the greyish screen with "Loading Windows Files." at the top and "Please Wait..." at the bottom. It stops there. Nothing loads up, it just stops. So, I hard reset it again, and THIS time, it says " Startup Repair. " So, I think to myself, this should fix the problem. I load up the startup repair. Loading Windows Files works, then it looks like its loading up and then BAM!
Black screen with a white cursor. SO! I have read up on this error quite a bit, but unfortunately, most of them happen before log in. They say to Ctr+Alt+Del into task manager. I don't have that option because the ctrl alt del doesn't work. So, I break down and try and load up the recovery console from my USB drive that I have on boot. All that does is mimic trying to do startup repair.

How To Delete Domain From Computer Name
Dec 28, 2009Some time ago after installing Windows 7 on my computer, I added a domain name (don't ask me why - I was just fiddling around ). Now, I cannot delete it. From my dos commands, when I do a pathping, I get Rick-PC.mydomain.net and I want to get rid of the domain part of it since no one else has that domain.
We all log in here on our computers not from any domain controller. We share an Internet pipe and a simple file server.
I have tried going in through Computer|Properties|, under computer name - 'Change Settings' under "To rename this computer click Change" [Change], and under [More] where it states a DNS suffix, it is blank.
