Dual Display 1 Not Displaying Except On Startup; Both Display In Linux?

Sep 22, 2012

Windows 7 64 turns off the monitor 1 signal after startup. At login, it powers off monitor 1 and powers on monitor 2. Windows 7 behaves as though dual display is working even though monitor 1 does not display. It's the same for single display, the monitor will not work on cable 1 except at startup. Both 'Extend these displays' in Windows Screen Resolution and 'Extend' in the Nvidia Control Panel is selected. And changing which one is primary does not turn on monitor 1. Nor does switching the position of display 1 in either (ex.left/right/top/bottom).GeForce 8400 GS; Dual Monitor Solution 59 pin (DMS-59) to 2 VGA adapter -tried two of these adapter cables.atest Driver: 306.23 - installed a clean reset install of the latest Nvidia driver released last week.Same Resolution: 2 of the 4 monitors I have tried have the exact same 'recommended' resolution (1280X 1024), both 60Hz, and even chose 16 bit color for both instead of 32 to reduce resources.

Linux worked: Dual display worked immediately when I tried it in Ubuntu 10. So, it's not the hardware. It works in Ubuntu 12 too but not properly -it won't transfer windows across displays. My Windows 7 64 is an upgrade from Vista 64. One person in another forum with the same problem resolved theirs by reinstalling Windows 7. But another got the same problem only after a fresh clean install of Windows 7 64 with the same GeForce 8400 GS and DMS-59 when it had previously worked in Vista. Move Context Menu Items Into A Cascading Context Menu?

Mar 17, 2012

Okay, I'm not sure if this can be done as easily as I'm hoping. What I'm wanting to do is move already existing context menu items into a cascading context menu to organize and reduce clutter. For instance, I would have a cascading menu named "Scan with" and inside it would be avast! Internet Security and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.On a side note, does anyone know how to remove the following context menu items?Computer- Show on DesktopControl Panel- Show on DesktopImages- Set as desktopbackground- Print Rotate clockwise- Rotate counterclockwiseMusic/Videos- Add to Windows Media Player List

Add Sub Menu To Context Menu

Mar 16, 2012

Just having a tidy up and "optimisation" session...was wondering how easy it would be to make a sub menu to put similar items in.

For example I have microsoft security essentials and malwarebytes context menu entries. How can I put them into one sub menu so they only take up one slot on the main context menu?

Windows 7 Start Menu?

Jan 25, 2012

I unfortunately used Perfect Uninstaller to remove SQL Server 2008 R2 and Visual Studio 2010. After reading the forum I know it was a mistake to use this as it probably infected me.I used Avast to locate the viruses on my HD and then removed them with their program. So, then I tried to re install the SQL Server and it installs successfully but when you go to the start menu, then click to expand the folder it says (empty) under the folderI also re installed Visual Studio 2010 which also completed successfully and when you click on that folder in the start menu, there are items there but they are shortcuts that look like documents (have the document icon), and you cant launch Visual Studio.I so do not want to reformat my hard drive for this to work.

I also ran the unhidefolders.exe from this site but it did not correct the problem.

Any one have any ideas how to fix this? These are the only two programs that are like this on my start menu, the others are fine and work correctly.

How To Customize The Menu Bar In Windows

Dec 12, 2012

I can't seem to find the way to customize the Menu Bar, the one right above the Command bar. When I right-click on it, it gives me only the "lock the toolbar" option. It has the usual suspect buttons now, "File, "Edit", "View" etc, but I want to add Cut, Copy, Paste, Delete etc.

This was a 30 second process on Win XP

No Boot Menu For Windows 7?

Apr 29, 2011

I have Windows 7 and XP installed on separate partitions of one drive. I also had a 2nd hard drive, for backing up data, which I think has died so I disconnected it. This machine used to automatically boot into Windows 7, but now it goes to XP. There was nothing installed onto the 2nd drive so I have no idea why disconnecting that would change anything. I've checked, and the Windows 7 files are still available on the working hard drive.Previously, if I wanted to boot into XP instead of 7, I would go into the BIOS and change the boot order of the 2 hard drives, and then it would automatically boot into the other OS.One other thing I remember, is that when I had the Windows 7 loaded up, it showed the Windows 7 partition as being the C drive. When I have XP turned on, it shows the Windows 7 partition as being D drive and XP as being in the C drive.

Windows 7 Install Menu Won't Appear?

Sep 7, 2011

Basically I'm trying to do an install on a partition.

1. I tried using a DVD to install Windows 7 and it would go through "Windows is Loading Files" and then the "Starting Windows" icon appears.

2. After that the install menu is suppose to show, instead the background appears along with the mouse but the menu doesn't.

3. I thought maybe it was a problem with the file or disc. So I tried using another file of Windows 7, and I tried using another disc but still stuck at the same spot.

4. Next I tried to install off a flash drive and still same thing happens, the install menu won't appear.

I'm not sure if it's called install menu but basically it's the screen where you select "install now"

Windows 7 Boot Menu?

Aug 30, 2011

I recently installed Windows 7 from a USB drive (16GB) instead of the disc. One of the issues I've encountered after was that in my Win7 boot up, I'm taken to the boot selection menu, which is usually reserved for multi-booting, or crash recovery. The options shown are...- Windows 7 Ultimate- Windows EMS Setupand towards the bottom of the screen some type of diagnostic option. I can't remember off the top of my head.Is there any way I can remove the setup option from this menu? I would like to boot straight into Windows without timing out, or having to select it manually.

Change The Windows 7 Folder Menu Look?

Nov 14, 2011

I recently went from Xp home 32-bit to Win 7 home 64-bit and there is one thing that its annoying to me I would love to change but I do not know if it can be changed or how to do so if if it can.

Now to be very specific I linked to what i would like to have changed. i would like to change that to this look:

see that folder with the green arrow under the favorites menu. that is what I'd lvoe to have back again.

i do not like this whole my computer->c:->Program files-> winamp-> skins(that is an example) and to go back have to click on on the previous folder name. It would be nice to have that button again. so i can move back to the previous folder easier and faster. as well as the back button so i can click move quicker between folders.
