My best friend inadvertently reset my statistics for Spider Solitaire; I don't have a perfect score but have played a great many games. I know what the statistics were as of last week, and would like to restore them. In Windows XP, I could edit the Registry, but do not know whether this will work in Windows 7.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a case where the task is to alter 250+ HP laptops with OEM factory image before firstboot. The purpose of this is to be able to use the preinstalled image of Win 7 Pro x64 on the laptops instead of using a generic VLA installation image (don't ask why).
Is there any way to modify the SetupComplete.Cmd or any other pertinent scripts/reg keys that the Windows OEM Preinstallation Kit or sysprep is using or any custom HP firstboot scripts so the bloatware and custom HP settings (except drivers) are not being installed or applied?
basically I just got a new computer, and would like to transfer my minesweeper records from my old computer to my new one. Both are running the same Windows 7 x64. The reason I want to transfer is because I became RIDICULOUSLY good with my old laptop, and will never come close with my new one (different mouse styles). I mostly played easy, but I became damn good at it. I had a 95% win rate over 10,000 games, which is ridiculous considering the number of no-win games. I also had my top 5 times at under 2 seconds, with an extremely rare one-click win top time of 0 (shows up as 1) seconds.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron 620 with windows 7. When I first got the machine I copied some stuff from an old hard drive on to the new one. I created a partition for the old stuff called "old disk". Recently I realised I was hardly using the the second partition so I decided to merge the two. I couldn't do it though. First I shrank the old disk, then I was trying to extend the c drive but it didn't work. I used the windows disc manager and also a third party program. Anyway, long story short when I turned on my computer this morning I saw BOOTMGR is missing, press control+alt+delete to restart. I'm not sure what to do. It looks like that file got misplaced or the partitions got messed up. Windows won't boot. I have no Windows 7 boot disc, there is no repair your computer option in advanced boot options. I have a laptop running Win 7, maybe I could get the right files off it or create a system recovery disc. The trouble is the laptop has no dvd drive.

It works great connecting to a network license when i set it up initially using admin account outside of a domain. But as soon as i sysprepped the pc and join a windows domain and login as any user (whether they have admin rights or not), spss v18 (pasw) takes about 5-6 minutes to load - which is not at all acceptable. In fact there is no splash screen or anything to warn users it is loading, and just appears after several minutes...I've checked domain firewall settings (even disabled firewall), but still no joy.However, once spss has loaded after several minutes, any other users logging in afterwards get a quick spss load. Its almost like the first login on the PC from cold takes forever, any reason for that?Again this only happens when the PC is in a domain and being sysprepped with spss on it.
View 3 Replies View Relatedmy computer was getting too hot i went into the BIOS and changed a few things like turning off the auto-controlled fan sensors, FSB i put down to 200 and the CPU voltage I changed to 1.0Volts. I started up windows again. This time though, the option for "hibernate" had disappeared. So i looked up how to put it back on. and changed the power settings to "never" allow "hybrid sleep". So now i have the option to hibernate again. But the strange part was this. When I put my computer to sleep now. It apparently shuts down fully. (no more blinking light) then i turn it on and it re awakes from sleep. It's actually nice to have it this way. I tested it to see if i could disconnect the power fully and then still restore it back from sleep. Sure enough it lets me disconnect the power for up to 5 seconds then i plug it back in and it will still restore back from sleep. I guess my question is. Is the computer using even less power now to keep the information on the RAM. I read somewhere that on average your computer uses about 6 watts while in sleep mode.

When introduced a CD Rom into the drive, it has all the autostart functions for movies, pics, documents, but instead of starting the games directly, It allways ask me to open the file, movies or pics, but the game never starts automatically as It used to do in the past Windows versions, and in Windows 7 BEFORE SP1. It's imposible to play games that require the insertion of the disc into the CD Rom Drive, for the same reason.Im running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and have a LG Super Multi RwDVD +R DL Light scribe multirecorder.
View 1 Replies View Relatedok so i have a problem thats been driving me insane. my toshiba F50 was working totally fine until suddenly during games my GPU started overheating quickly during games (Was not doing this before) i noticed that my fan didnt seem to be spinning as fast as before. i cleaned it still no avail, tried riva tuner and ntune and all of that jazz and all of them have the fan control options greyed out? (cannot use them)i noticed that when i start the laptop the POST test on the fans guns the fan to 100% speed so i know its capable of doing it. it seems like the fan doesnt know to speed up when it gets hot and it keeps shutting my system down and i reallllly dont feel like damaging my GPU. i tried rolling back my drivers and running the latest drivers.

I have been having some ongoing issues with my PC. The latest is that it will restart itself consistently whenever I am playing any game from Shogun 2 to Starcraft 2 to Skyrim to League of Legends. It does not BSOD, it only restarts itself whenever I am in game. Sometimes it does it right away as soon as I start the game, other times it goes for twenty minutes before it restarts.My PC is an Alienware AURORA_R2, Processor is Intel Core i5 760 @ 2,80Ghz, 12.0 GB RAM, 64-bit Operating System Windows 7 Home Premium and Service Pack 1. The games' setup were run on Windows 7 targeted to an external drive, and I'm trying to use the same drive with the Windows 7 games installed on Windows 8 right now. So do I have to reinstall them on Windows 8?
Note that the Windows 7 Compatibility Mode for the .exe files didn't work.

But now, I can't play most of the games.. The error message shows that there's the problem with my graphic card, and keep asking me to change the resolution and color depth. I didn't do anything with resolution and color depth, therefore no need to do anything. I'm currently using the "Realtek High Definition Audio Driver" and I've tried to upgrade to new one.
