How can I get all the fonts installed in win 7 over to my virtual environment? I have copied my font folder over there, but I still cannot see themI am absolutely desperate after this upgrade to Win 7! In have an urgent deadline using PageMaker 7 and I need to see the fonts there. Please, no abuse regarding the fact that I use PM. And my new pc can definitely handle the toll on memory and resources

View 4 Replies View RelatedThis week, I encountered the following strange problem for which I haven't found a final solution so far, though I have found some bandaids. But having a complete solution -or at least a reason why this problem occurs- would be great:I have a working installation of Windows 7 Professional x64 in UEFI mode. The main disk, SSD #1, contains the following partitions (using GPT): ESP, MSR, system, data. An additional disk, HD #2, with a single data partition (using MBR) is also attached to the system. With this setup, everything works fine.Now, after adding another disk, HD #3, to the system -my old system disk (bootable, using MBR, one active primary partition and an extend partition with three logical disks)- Windows will no longer boots completely: The boot process begins, the Windows logo is shown. Then, a message is shown in text mode "Windows is loading files" with a loading bar. After a while the boot process stops and I am dropped into the EFI shell. After removing the offending HD #3, Windows boots normally again.
I tried removing HD #2 and only attaching HD #3 together with SSD #1, but this yielded the same problem. Using SSD #1 by itself works fine though. Booting from a Linux live-cd works without problems. All disks and partitions are found and can be mounted. There, I erased the disk signature from the offending HD #3 and now Windows was able to boot and also found all disks and partitions correctly. But after a reboot the same problem reappeared
I'm moving from an XP machine to a Windows 7 machine. I want to take a bunch of fonts with me, but Explorer in Windows 7 won't let me actually look at what files are in the font directory; all I can see is their characteristics, provided by Control Panel. Will it work to just copy font files into that directory from the XP machine? Or is there some additional voodoo to get them installed?

Maybe others are missing also, but I can't tell. Everything is Italic and/or Bold.So my questions are:

I received my laptop yesterday - Core i5, 4GB RAM, Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I proceeded to install some apps from Microsoft and Adobe. Installation went fine and the apps started without problems. As soon as I saw the long list of fonts in Word, I wanted to remove as many of them as I possibly could. Brought up Fonts panel. Only 10 fonts - 10 ancient, bitmap fonts. What!? I saw and selected many fonts in Microsoft and Adobe apps. The fonts are indeed there, but they are simply not shown - no Segoe, no Cambria, no Corbel, no Constantia, not even Arial and Times New Roman, nothing.I got nervous and decided to restore Windows all the way back to the starting point.Today, I created the recovery DVDs from the factory partition. Rebooted from the DVDs to re-image C drive. Set up Windows and created my account. Windows 7 came up fresh. I went straight to the Fonts panel to check. Horror - the same 10 bitmap fonts, and nothing else.The factory-installed Windows 7 has problems showing fonts? What should I do now?

I am trying to install 32 barcode fonts (type .ttf) using a batch file. Everything that I have read says that you should just be able to copy the font to C:windowsfonts and then add the appropriate value to the registry at HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionFonts. My batch file does both of these things, however the fonts still do not show up in the font manager (or applications). They do show up if I browse to the fonts folder using cmd so I know they are where they should be. Is there something that I am missing here? These fonts need to be installed on every computer at my company so manually installing them isn't really an option.

The top line of text is from IE9 and the one below is from firefox both from the same computer. Any idea why the top one is a little messed up? I can honestly say I only noticed it on this one website and only the headlines. I'm using a XFX Radeon 6950 video card using the latest catalyst drivers.

View 9 Replies View Relatedcan't seem to find a way to permanently fix it. The problem is that Windows 7 doesn't display Japanese fonts and instead just displays squares. I've tried deleting the font cache and letting Windows rebuild that. Worked for about 2 restarts and then the fonts weren't being displayed anymore.I've tried changing the system locale (for non-unicode programs). That fixes it but I get yen symbols instead of forward slashes in file paths, as well as other symbols being replaced. Creating a new user account seems to fix things but I'm the only one that uses my computer so having another account and having to select my own account on login is annoying. I have the Japanese keyboard added as well as Microsoft IME.I've found that just restarting a few times normally gets the fonts to display correctly but most times that I boot up the fonts aren't displayed correctly.

And before someone mentions language packs and the Ultimate version of 7, no, I don't want to change my input language. I would just like to display Japanese. This can, and has been, done in the professional version.
A couple of months ago I was working on a logo design in Adobe Illustrator CS5 (I'm a graphic designer) when the power in my town cut out for a moment. It shut the computer down, and since then I noticed that it takes quite a long time for the machine to boot up... 5 or more minutes.
Also since then, every time I buy and install a new font it does not keep the font installed. I have to continuously reinstall them. Anything installed prior to that day is fine, but new fonts since then just won't stay put.
I'm using a Dell Studio XPS with Windows 7 Pro.
My Windows started to display wingding fonts.Idk how to explain but I always get 'Font '?' cannot be found' when started my laptop. Almost all text are wingding. And when I check in Fonts i got 3 fonts left. The problem is I got no other PC to copy the other fonts. Looking for zip files of all fonts?

After doing a clean install but saving files in 'Windows.old' Wingdings 2 & Wingdings 3 fonts have disappeared. They aren't in the the fonts folder and I need them. PC started acting inappropriately during searches. Press Window Key, press W key to get Wordpad and it would show things like Calculator, VLC Player or Irfanview. Or press Window Key, press I for Internet Explorer and it shows Notepad, Paint or Word.
Vista SP1 (Service Pack 1) was the last Windows Service Pack I am aware of that could be added (slipstreamed into the installation media) to the Windows Install DVD.Will I be able to "slipstream" Service Packs into my Windows 7 Home Premium DVD? Will I be able to purchase new DVD media with the new service packs added?

However, once that is done, I want to connect my old HDD (which was Windows 7 Pro) and get the images and stuff off of it, so I can format it and use strictly for sotrage. What should I do to "add" the patches (those KBXXXXXXX files) from Windows Update to ISO. Is there a way to "put" .NET Framework 4.0?
I guess that "add" is very relative term as I suppose, that the new .iso file can be created at the end of the process leaving the old .iso as it was.
What I mean I've seen terms like Windows Automated Installation Kit, imagex, sysprep, OOBE, but I can hardly figure how they works.
Now there is a huge problem. I had really difficulties with understanding stuff during reading numerous articles which were telling how to make similar things (or just my guessing told so). Here are some wild guesses:
1. Editing the original .iso file with some software, thus creating the new iso.
2. Making fresh installation of Windows 7 (whether by Virtual Machine or on real hardware). Enabling audit mode, but then I don't quite get it about Out of Box Experience (OOBE), set up the things I want to and by imagex(???) create the .iso of it?
3. Creating Win PE which will be (????) a background for "typical" Windows Installation?
Does this problem have something common with unattended installation?
