I've got problem on my laptop since build 69XX, now I'm on RC and problem is still here... Power plan settings doesn't contains Max CPU usage option and computer runs at full 1,6GHz on any power plan.

I recently upgraded to Windows 7 Proffesional x64. I used the Asus CD to install all Asus stuff. Even the ones I don't need.
My notebook as two graphics cards. The default Intel Onboard card and the more powerful 1GB nVidia GeForce GT425M 1GB video card. Before the upgrade (which was a clean install) when I played a game (left 4 dead2, call of duty: black ops) the notebook automatically switched from the Intel to the Nvidia graphics card. But it doesn't anymore. I have read that my notebook used Nvidia Optimus technology to do this.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a i7 860 desktop (8 gb ram) which tends to freeze on one of the data applications that I run. Using the 'performance monitor' I discovered that the freeze occurs when the 'frequency' goes above 100%. At no point does the cpu utilization exceed 15%. Several calls to the vendor have failed to resolve the issue or even educate me. The question I have is what is this 'frequency' and two, why does it cause the application to freeze while the 8 cores are relaxing?

My native resolution is 1600x1200 but when i change my resolution to 1600x1200 it says 'frequency out range'. I have intel g31 without other graphic card.Then i installed gma driver it shows complete list of all resolutions but i cant set any resolution above 1600x900.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have been having a lot of problems with my turtle beach transmitter blocking any wireless signal coming into my room, which is really odd, anyway after a few messages to the company, they have told me to changed my router frequency from 5ghz to 2.4ghz and that should solve the problem.Now I have sky Fibre, and have one of the Sagem N routers provided by sky.I have gone into the router settings and I cannot find anywhere to change a frequency.I thought the router would have been n a 2.4ghz frequency anyway

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhenever I switch user accounts the computer will start the switch and then lock up with a display message that says no signal on the monitor. It happens if the computer has been running for hours or only a couple of minutes. I have to shut the PC off and leave it off for 20-30 minutes. I can then restart and enter any user account. But if I try to switch user or logoff and pick a different user the whole cycle begins anew.

I have two (don't ask ), and i'm using the better of the two, with a 2.0GHz AMD Athlon 64 'Clawhammer', 40GB IDE HDD, 512MB RAM (2x256) and 64MB of video RAM. I would ultimately like to upgrade the RAM to the 2GB max., but that would cost 60, which I don't have to spare at the moment. A friend of mine recently upgraded the RAM in his laptop from 2x512MB to 2x1GB, and offered me the 2x512MB sticks. Obviously, my first concern was was it the right type. Off the top of my head, the ZV5000 takes SODIMM 333MHz RAM. I enquired, and my friend said the RAM he has is 600MHz (from what he could remember).If they are the right physical size, would the difference matter/damage the laptop?

I have checked in the BIOS and the frequency was set to auto and the voltage was also set to auto, I have set these to 1066 and 2.10 respectively but when I checked with CPU-Z it reports frequency 534.9 and voltage 1.80. I made sure I saved the changes before i exited the bios

View 9 Replies View RelatedHave been getting BSODs more and more frequently over the last week. Can't think of anything special that triggered the behaviour though. It mostly happens when the computer idles and I'm doing other stuff, and doesn't seem to relate to computer load etc.
Did a bit of digging myself and used WhoCrashed to identify Comodo Backup and Daemon Tools as possible culprits. They are both uninstalled now. Installed drivers for the bluetooth which were missing and giving an exclamation mark in device manager. After that no exclamation marks or errors there.
Today I did a full memorycheck with Memtest86+, which passed all runs.
Got another BSOD couple of hours ago (0x00000124), with no lead from WhoCrashed on the root cause so now I resort to asking the gurus.
I use windows 7.When I turn on laptop (acer Aspire 5742) cannot connect to internet until I switch user and log in again. Soon as I touch any browser icon the rest of computer stops responding as well. It's only me on computer. Have virgin media security/ spyware/ virus protection. Tried CCleaner. After I switch user everything is fine.Additional info; On 16th October had great difficulty getting my emails from Yahoo. Sometimes sign-in box appeared without my security signature and different style of writing for browser remembered log-on details.

I just bought the 3 unit upgrade which contains both the 32 and the 64 bit discs. I have an AMD dual core that will process the 64 bit. I installed the 32 bit version. Now I wonder, can I go back and install the 64 bit and if I do will I lose the extra install or will I still have 2 left on the 64 and the 32?

This is the setup - One direct lan connection from router to A, then another lan on A is connected to a switch. B is also connected to a switch.
On A, I have allowed other network users to connect thru this computers connection (for the lan card which is connected to the router).
The other lan connected to the switch remains unidentified, in fact it gets APIPA with IP as 169.254.82.6.

I know you need at least two drives to perform any RAID functions. When I tried to switch over the SATA drives in the BIOS from RAID to ACHI, windows failed to start. Is there some proceedure first that I need to do before I switch them? Like a driver or does the hard drives have to be switched on a clean install of windows?

View 4 Replies View RelatedJust a home user. Mostly gaming. Home oriented stuff includes Office XP (2002), and Quicken. The other main software I use is Adobe Premier Pro CS3 video software (includes Encore, the DVD writing program), and Visual Studio 2005.
My system, isn't the latest, but newer stuff isn't a lot faster yet:
Intel core 2 extreme X6800 (2.93ghz)
Intel D975XBX motherboard, 2GB 667 mhz 4-4-4-10 ddr2ram.
ATI HD4870 (PCI Express) video card, 512 MB ram
Sound Blaster X-Fi Plantinum
4 Segate 7200.12 500GB sata drives, paired into two striped virtual drives via BIOS.
1 Seagate ??? 250gb IDE drive, used only for boot up.
All drives have multiple partitions.
Windows XP SP3 is installed on a partition on one of the striped sata drives.
Windows XP X64 is installed on a partition on the ide drive.
The second pair of drives are used for swap files, temp files, and backup.
There's also a USB drive I use for backup.
Each instance of OS is used to backup the "other" OS partition, and also I use X64 for for some 64 bit programming with Visual Studio 2005.
Other than one version of Halo, I haven't seen any games that don't run on Windows XP. I read that most games play faster with Windows XP than with Windows Vista, and Tom's recent article seems to state that Windows 7 isn't faster with gaming than Windows Vista.
So bottom line, is there any point in switching to Windows 7 (or replacing my XP X64 with Windows 7)?
